Very well deserved, in a very difficult year for everyone, he proved himself worthy and to be the king his country needed.

IMHO a well deserved accolade for King Phillipe.

As one, of the men of the year 2020, well deserved. I don't think it took him 60 years to finally become an adult, but well if you think so. I feel he has done a very good job as King, the Head of State, husband and father. 2020 a very difficult year, he rose to the occasion. I think for him everything, as a man who is a bit shy he outshone everyone.

Still waters run deep.
Philippe is never going to be a mega outgoing man but he has understood what his office meant and he serves his people to the best of his ability, no matter what.
And the Belgian people has seen it and is behind their king for that reason, they know they can count on him and his family to lead by example during difficult times.

A lot of people seem to like the King, it's a good sign.

The king -in his car- unexpectedly ended up in a demonstration tonight (that turned violent). See last picture in this (Dutch) article.

The news just showed that there were riots after a protest against the death of the 23 y/o Ibrahima B. who died 1 hour after his arrest this weekend. Windows were smashed and things were set on fire. A police station was destroyed.
Rather sloppy that the security detail of the king did not take a different route home & drove right into a demonstration. After the car of the king drove onto the Liedtsplein'la place de Liedts in Schaerbeek, the square was cleared by the police, to which some protestors responded with violence. The car of the king was not a target and no objects were thrown at it.

One major problem is that Belgium has several police agencies, so communication between them can go astray. And that seems to have been the case here.
