A summery:

Mathilde arrived with the baby to talk to the press. Philippe said his wife should also say something because after all she did all the work, and is the 'central figure', to which mathilde replied that that wasn't completely true, "Emmanuel is the real star".

Mathilde said that she's overjoyed with the new baby, "as you can se he's a firm little boy, he eats very well and last night he slept 7 hours" then she turned to Philippe and said "let's hope it stays that way!".

She said Elisabeth and Gabriel are both overjoyed with the new brother. Gabriel is very generous, and wants to share all his toys with Emmanuel, but Mathilde gets a little frightened when he starts hovering his toy tractor over his little brother's head. Philippe added that Elisabeth acts very resonsably towards Emmanuel.

They said goodbye to the hospital staff and the wellwishers that came to greet them, and then it was off home, to the castle of Laeken.

yes I think he doesn't want her to touch the baby! well, if I had a baby I also did not want a stranger to touch my baby..

The couple was asked wether more children would follow they replied "One thing at a time. We've got 3 children now, which is already quite a lot and we'll also see what our children think about it themselves".

One of the journalists asked if he could hold the baby! Philippe replied that he hadn't even had the chance himself to hold him today and that he's a jealous father ... so the journalist got the point I guess

They said goodbye to the press and Mathilde waved Emmanuel's arm to them, very cute!

A few other remarks from the press conference:

- Mathilde said she had a perfect pregnancy, she was able to perform her official activities untill the end. The delivery went well. "Every mother knows what it's like, and each birth is different, it was a comletely natural birth".

- When asked who she tought Emmanuel looked like most she said he looked like a mix of Gabriel and Elisabeth as babies, and since Elisabeth looks so much like her father, she thinks Emmanuel looks a lot like Philippe too.

- When asked wether, in case it was a girl, she would have been called Emmanuelle, Philippe said no. He likes it better as a boy's than a girl's name ... and said sorry to the women who are called Emmanuelle

- When Mathilde was in hospital Philippe also visited some of the other patients. "A lot of people don't have it easy and we noticed that our happiness can sometimes also bring some happiness to other people, which warms our heart".

I am curious if anyone knows if PM is thought to breastfeed her children? Is it very common in Europe? In America it was not very popular but has become moreso in the past 15 years and is now encouraged by many OB/GYN doctors.

I'm not certain, but I think she does. Royals normally don't take their little babies on overseas trips, but Philippe and Mathilde took Elisabeth on the trip for Maxima and Willem-Alexander's wedding. I suppose she did this because she was BF. The same reason, I suppose, that Mette-Marit took Ingrid Alexandra to the Jordanian royal wedding.
