The gala dinner in Portugal will be black tie as shown in the picture above of King Baudouin's state visit. Will Queen Mathilde wear the laurel wreath or the Wolfers tiara as she wore in other black tie dinners or, like Queen Fabiola, will she opt for no tiara ?

Pity that queen Fabiola is only half in that last photo with Philippe .

The Dukes of Bragança should also attend the gala dinner.

Most likely he will. The Duke recently attended the Spanish state visit dinner.

D.Duarte and D.Isabel, Dukes of Bragança were present at the banquets of the state visits of Spain and Holland. So it is very likely that they will also be present at the state visit banquet in Belgium.

At the recent State Visits from Spain and the Netherlands the Gala Dinner was white tie so i hope for this State Visit it will be too.

I am very much surprised about this 1984 photo and the then dresscode as portugese state visits, both in and outcoming, are usually always white tie and orders (the ony republic I can remember to do so these days besides Iceland and Finnland)!

That is a nice surprise.

The duke of Anjou was dating Mathilde's sister (now Marchioness Pallavicini) for a few years in the early 2000s.

How nice to see the Duchess of Cadaval wearing her family tiara again. It's rare to see her in a tiara, and the last time she decided to borrow on from Cartier instead of wearing her own.

Is there a picture available online ?

Thanks. The messages on the board you linked speculate that it is Queen Élisabeth's tiara borrowed from Cartier. Are they wrong ?

The tiara is a Cadaval tiara. Duchess Diana wore it for her Wedding.

Queen Mathilde is wearing typical golden heart-shaped earrings from the Minho region in the North of Portugal, a lovely gesture. I believed they are named Coração de Viana (Heart of Viana) after the central city of the area: Viana do Castelo.

Well, at this State Visit she certainly wore the beautiful Cadaval tiara. I think that it's the first time she's seen wearing it after her wedding.

But at last year's Red Cross Ball (see my link above), it does look like Queen Elisabeth's Cartier tiara. Afaik, it has never been confirmed, so it might have been a copy.

Nice that they went to Porto, I don't think my own king and queen made it there. I hope they understood more of the modern art in Serralves than I usually do ;).

It seems that the lunch was held in the former stock exchange.
