And the front of this Dumfries House looks just like the Highgrove facade, doesn't it? So the Duchy has bought this house to restore it/save it?

Prince Charles Gives 20m To Save Sleeping Beauty For Nation (from The Herald )

A total of £20m has been guaranteed by The Prince's Charities Foundation, with a further £25m put together by a plethora of trusts and heritage bodies: The Monument Trust provided £9m, The National Heritage Memorial Fund £7m, the Scottish Executive gave £5m, The Art Fund £2.25m, The Garfield Weston Foundation £1m, Sir Siegmund Warburg's Voluntary Settlement gave a further £250,000 and the Dunard Fund gave $250,000, (£125,000).
The deal, driven predominantly by the prince, includes the crucial purchase of 66 acres of land in the Cumnock area near the estate: this will now be developed into an "ideal village", which may resemble the Prince of Wales's Poundbury village in Dorset. The sale of its houses will go some way to recouping his costs.

I agree with Charles on this matter, as you drive through the Highlands now, you see kit houses being built. Back gardens, crofts and agricultural land purchased and these cardboard like monstrosities being thrown up willy nilly. They all look the same, with no character, unlike the original Highland cottages.
The people erecting them, with their 1 acre of land then see themselves as 'country folk' and dash out to buy a pony or two 'for the kids', a couple of dogs, etc, etc. They then set up a committee to change everything they said they admired about the Highlands. :bang:

This 'writer' disagrees

Does anybody know why this engagement was not mentioned in the Court Circular? I thought the Court Circular was meant to publish all official engagements by members of the royal family? If it doesn't then all those statistics produced at the end of the year to show how many engagements different members of the RF can't be trusted.

Well, the Clarence House engagements aren't always printed in the Court Circular. I always rely on the Prince of Wales website for news from the CH team. Also, I don't think The Times version of the Court Circular is ever as complete as the Royal.gov.uk version. I think The Times cuts out a lot of things because they have limited print space. Majesty also cuts out even much more than The Times to save on space. It's a nice picture, BTW. I like this informal feeling, a nice change from the usual "how do you do" pictures in the State Rooms.

The worst thing that I had in Scotland was the lamb kidneys one morning at Culloden House Hotel which close to Inverness, because they had not been watered, so featured a certain "haut gout"... Brrr.... But the rest of the food there was lovely.
Poor you, although Culloden House Hotel is a nice little place. :flowers:

How many charities does he have?

The Prince of Wales is Patron or President of more then 400 organizations, you can find the whole list here.
However, apart from those organizations, he supports many other charities.
