Lovely photos - I'm assuming Charles & Camilla are staying at the Castle of Mey as they usually do this time of year.

I love the highlands in August & September - half of my family live up there & when I visit, going to highland gatherings is one of my favourite things to do. Prince Charles always looks very relaxed & happy there & no doubt he remembers many wonderful times walking, fishing & picnicking with his beloved Granny.

I imagine that for Charles, his time in Scotland is like stepping into a whole different world and he can breathe easier, relax and just be. It doesn't surprise me one bit that its his favorite place to spend his downtime at.

As a ‘high church Anglican’ I’m very pleased with this. Good on Prince Charles. Newman was one of the leaders of the Oxford Movement.

But of course he abandoned the Oxford Movement and the Anglican Church when he crossed the Tiber.

Reading about Charles' upcoming visit to the Vatican for the canonization of Cardinal Newman and having watched Charles over the years and his interactions with different faiths and their different people, I keep remembering the rumor that went around back then that Charles would like to change things so that he could be "Defender of Faith" rather than "Defender of the Faith".

Defender of the Faith is a long held title held by the monarch of Great Britain and to be honest, I don't see Charles changing that but I do believe that he practices that all faiths are important to their people and he honors and respects that. Actually, to me, that makes him a good example of being a man with respect, tolerance and acceptance of his neighbor regardless of what their religious leanings are. He practices what is preached. ?
