I think it represents one of the princess warriors popular in comic books for the younger teenage girls. It also might remind of Sailer Moon.  Thank goodness Diana's fashion sense greatly improved from this time.

I LIKE THE DRESS THE JEWELERY.. THE TIARA... HER FACE CHANGE ALOT THREW THE YEAR.. SHE WAS SO PRETTY BEFORE SHE GOT MARRIED AND THE FEW YEARS IN TO... AND RIGHT BEFORE SHE DIED SHE STARTED TO LOOK BETTER AGAIN.....
