Yeah, Diana has been gone on for a long time now. Naturally the news of the anniversaries have died down, but her memory lives on.

May she rest in peace. But above all, may her memory remain alive, without more strenous and useless debates about her. I wish people would keep in mind that she's gone. Forever. She is not coming back a deserves respect as well as quiet.

I so remember where I was when I heard what happen- I was at the beach at Ocean City MD for Labor Day weekend and it came on the news late in the evening. I remember staying up in my hotel room watching CNN. Totally the opposite of first watching Diana at the Royal wedding getting up super early to watch it.
William is probably giving George and Charlotte an extra squeeze today.

I will always remember Diana. She's really been on my mind over these last couple of years, but I know the ones who really miss her are her families and friends. I hope she's up there having a good time and looking over her family she left behind.
Yes, Diana's memory deserves respect and I hope everyone will continue to honor her memory with kind acts towards people and support charities that help those in need.

I was sitting at home on Saturday n ight when the first news bulletin from Paris flashed on. At first the reports were that her injuries were fairly "minor" but something told me to stay tuned. Finally very early in the AM, the tragic news came on. Like so many others I was numb with shock. It's hard to believe it's been 18 years since that awful day. It's wonderful to see her legacy being carried on not only by her sons but by many others who were and are being inspired by her. RIP, Diana.

We were in another state visiting family....we had turn the news on not long after the crash happened, the media were still saying she was alive at that point. I stayed up quite late watching....it was hard to believe.
Watched her funeral ....so sad for those boys. Harry's card 'Mummy' caused a lot of emotion.

My case is boring: I woke up in the morning, turned the radio on and heard the news. Deeply shocked I watched tv with all the Breaking News and special reports. I have the same age as William and it was for me like a nightmare.

When I went to bed, the news was that there had been an accident and Diana was injured. I figured that she'd broken a leg or something like that and so wasn't worried. When I got up in the morning, I turned on CBC radio to get the news and I heard the announcer introducing a radio documentary: Death of a Princess. The really strange thing was that, although I was saddened, I wasn't truly shocked. Perhaps my reaction was rare in that way.

August 31, 1997, was my wedding day! We hadn't heard about the accident because we were at the rehearsal dinner until midnight and then went straight to bed. The next morning my mother woke me up and said, "You've got to get up and get ready. And Princess Diana died."

At 11 last night I said to Mom it was 18 years ago I was in my Cousin's Living Room, watching CNN and hoping and praying the news that came at 2 am wouldn't come. We were on our way to take me back for my second and final year in College and had stopped at Cousins in Peterbourgh to break up the trip. How on Earth I managed to not wake anyone up is still beyond me!!
As some know, I count myself among the lucky to say I met that amazing Lady. I will never forget her, nor all she did for for the Disabled Community, as well as so many others. Many have forgotten just what those first pictures of Diana shaking hands w/out gloves on w/HIV/AIDS Patients did for Educating the World you really can't catch it by touching someone w/the Disease. Those pictures did more than any of the Multi Million Awareness Campaigns ever did at the time.
She was a very special Lady who is very much missed. May she Rest in Peace.

From The Royal Mint:
"#onthisday in 1997, Princess Diana of Wales tragically died. In 1999 The Royal Mint struck this £5 coin in memory of the Princess. It features a portrait of the Princess of Wales with the dates 1961 and 1997 and was designed by David Cornell."

I was in my bedroom mending something (it was morning) and my son came in to tell me that a report had come in over the radio that Diana had been in a car accident in Paris and was being taken to hospital. It wasn't long afterwards when he returned and said Diana was dead.
It was the most tremendous shock to me, Diana was so vital, so alive, that I couldn't take any of it in just then. I don't think I moved much from the TV news for the rest of the day. The world really went into mourning over the next 24 hours, and not just the English-speaking world. I still miss seeing her.

I remember Aug 31 1997 like it was yesterday but I prefer not to commemorate or even think about it.
I stick with the happier memories...her radiant smile, the good times with Prince Charles, her lovely outfits, and the early, crazy "Di-mania" days when the engagement was first announced.
