If I'm 100% honest I think the writing's already on the wall for the long term future of the marriage and I wouldn't be overly surprised if, at some point in the future, we see the family welcoming Harry back to both the family and the duties of a full time working member of the RF. However, it would be terribly awkward (and maybe even impossible?) to remove his title now and then give it back when circumstances have changed. I kind of feel like HM, the PoW, and the DoC might be hedging their bets and planning to allow the title to remain in case this plays out the way that I and many others believe it inevitably will. And, if they allow the titles to remain for now and later on find that they're being used in a highly inappropriate way (for personal gain, etc.) they can always be removed. I guess I'm just really saying that it's easier to let it ride for now and remove them later if need be than it would be to removed them now and then later try to reinstate.

Styled refers to the HRH, titled is the title. So, her title is Duchess of Sussex. Her style is Her Royal Highness. The Queen can the remove the style, i.e. the HRH at any time. The title, i.e. The Duchess of Sussex, must be removed from both she and Harry by an act of Parliament.
Thank you! So maybe the style should be removed - possibly - not the title. I don't care if this happens or not, but I do not think they deserve security when not acting on behalf of the Queen

My two cents- Harry isn't going to be stripped of anything. He was born an HRH and that's what he'll stay. People also forget he's a wealthy young man in his own right. Diana's will provided amply for both of her sons
Then if he wants to be financially independent, and he's wealthy through Diana, then there's no need for Charles to fund he and Meghan, especially if the article I posted above is correct.

How can someone WITHOUT British citizenship possibly be considered a "British royal"?
I guess in the sense that she's part of the British royal family by marriage? So, calling her a 'British royal' is a convenient shorthand, if not 100% accurate in the legal sense?

I'm sure if they could have made Meghan a British citizen before or on her wedding day, they would have. Alas, that was not the case, and now she is living outside the UK, the process will only be delayed further...

Goodness gracious, Meghan really needs to stop her "friends" from talking. There's now an article making the rounds purporting to have comments from her friends about her finally being able to breathe, how leaving the RF was a matter of life or death because her soul was dying, etc. And the wording of the article is very clear about the fact that she's done. She left, she now has free reign, and she didn't want Archie around that toxic life. It even clearly states "she will continue making surprise visits and and wants to feel embraced by her community."

If this is even remotely true then she needs to get a grip on her friends immediately because I suspect this type of thing would very seriously and negatively impact her negotiations with the RF and this is really not great publicity because it smacks of the me, me, me entitlement that Meghan's already getting so much flack for.

Or they could have and didn't because there were reservations and they wanted her to go through the process to see if she'd actually follow through. Just a thought.

The Guardian newspaper is today reporting a review of protection for Prince Andrew is recommending scaling back his security following the announcement he is stepping down from official duties. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...de-of-security

I suspect this may set the precedence for Harry and Meghan.

If Prince Harry and Meghan originally planned to move to the United States, why did they not put this in writing in the first place?

I really cannot see her bothering to continue with the process of obtaining British nationality - she has no love for this country, or its systems, and I doubt she will ever live here again..

I agree but......if it’s so toxic why does she want some of their “bread and butter “.

You mean this article? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ermission.html

I had no idea the DM is seen as believable now. Or is that only because Meghan is the subject.

Oh for pete's sake... her friends, they have diarrhea of the mouth and they aren't doing her any favors...at ALL. If they're just being her mouthpieces, like Bradby, then she has no right to keep Archie from his family - and if Harry agrees and doesn't bring the sweet babe to see his family or just doesn't visit, period (based on that Spectator article, all is not well), then that's on him as well.

Precisely. Why not just go ahead and admit that she wants out instead of this whole cat and mouse game about part time work, collaborating with the Queen *insert eye roll here*, geographic balance, and appreciation of the royal tradition into which their son was born? I realize that it's all trying to keep up the appearance of wanting to be half in and half out so that the perks don't all dry up and disappear but for heaven's sake, tell your friends to zip it until you've signed on the dotted line.

That is the article I mean and that is why I said "purporting" and "if." Who knows if there's truth to this or not but frankly, it doesn't sound outside the realms of possibility for Meghan and her friends. Let's not forget that People article or the likes of the Clooneys and Jameela Jamil or whatever her name is running to her defense publicly.

I do not know which article your post refers to, but read some questions concerning Doria's influence and what came up my mind spontanously than was( only suggestion o.c) all these persons I know who are deeply in to this Yoga stuff (I did it myself but only for my back's sake) and consider it almost a kind of religion are somehow different, maybe some if you understand what I want to point out?
If Doria and Meghan are really in that much into Yoga as it has been reported,
this step back does not surprise me. Those people I know have done "similar" steps like leaving the country to some "healthier" places , cut relations to " toxic" people aso
I do not want to blame anybody or Yoga as a method but only was thinking if this maybe had some impact, too. Maybe another piece in this puzzle.

Well, if this if true, she may have wanted her friends to speak for her. I believe they’ve done so before. She’s saying it’s a toxic environment- that’s her defense for this mess. It’s probably the excuse for the horrible way this has been handled. She “couldn’t” wait to do this properly.

That said- a part of me thinks she should speak for herself if that’s actually how she feels, and she wants her incredibly negative feelings publicly known. She can own it. If this is true, of course.

True or not- it sounds over the top to me. Your soul is dying? Life was that hard? Um- okay.

That being said- technically all she’s said publicly is she wants to not be a full time royal. It wouldn’t stun me if the reality is she’s basically or entirely done though. But who knows.

She came back to the U.K. for about 30 seconds- visited the patronages that got blindsided later in the day, moved her dogs to Canada, didn’t bring her son to the U.K. even to see family, and is doing work in Canada.

If I wanted to demonstrate a continued interest in the U.K., I’d have stayed for a bit. At least through negotiations with the family. Maybe actually doing work in the U.K. too. At least make it look like I still cared. Because from an optics POV, looking at her actions- I’d say it appears she doesn’t. Actions speaking louder than words and all. That’s speculation. Maybe she intends to do exactly what she said on the website, but I can’t say it looks that great to me right now.

If I remember correctly they wrote about spending time in UK and North America. So it could be US or Canada, or both.

I don't want to speak for you or put words in your mouth but I believe that what you're referring to is the same thing that was brought up countless times over the last three years or so. Some have referred to both Meghan and her mother as both "California girl free spirits" and "hippy dippy." I suspect that this is the type of culture you're thinking of and you're right in that the culture around those labels is thought to encourage things like leaving toxic environments, cutting out negativity, etc. Again, I really don't want to speak for you so maybe you mean something entirely different, but that's my guess as to what you're referring to.

In the statement put out by The Queen this week she said they would spend time in Canada.

By the way, I agree with this. It looks like all that language about collaborating, etc...was lip service - and spin. Don’t listen to what they say, watch what they DO.

Edited to add...sorry, I thought you were referring to my post. I don't have a link for the other article you're referring to.

Thanks anyway.

I do agree- some of it sounds Meghan- esque to me. It fits some of what she said in the interview. I forget the exact words- but not enough to survive or something- needed to thrive. She made it clear she was miserable. But- all, some or none of this article could be true.
