For once, I have to agree with Curryong. If Meghan had said anything juicy about the royal family, they'd have at least hinted at it in the teaser. No talk show would pass up that opportunity for extra ratings.

I think that is a very fair point, the only teaser has been about climbing into the back of a car. There will probably be more talked about before it is televised than after. Then we will moan that it was boring.

Another clip released. She talks about how Eugenie, Jack, and obviously Harry came to visit her in Toronto and they went to a Halloween party with her friend right before their relationship leaked.

Also spoke about how Archie (dinosaur) and Lili (skunk) visited Ellen this year.

Very cute.

Celebrities don't expect taxpayer-funded security for pseudo-"tours" or think it's appropriate to use meaningless foreign titles in American politics.

Sophie (the Countess of Wessex) was at the Cenotaph on Sunday, representing Her Majesty the Queen for Remembrance Day, with the other members of the boring Royal Family. Something Meghan did once, exactly, before deciding it wasn't for her. She's also been working with her patronages for months, and picking up the slack that Oprah-interviewees left behind.

Meghan has done what level of work by comparison, exactly? Especially if it didn't call attention to herself?

Not everyone finds her interesting. Let alone "exciting". I can think of a few other words...

Exactly my point!

It's so lovely to think of Harry, Eugenie, and Meghan enjoying a night with no one realizing who they were and just being themselves.

While I didn't watch the Lifetime movie about Harry and Meghan myself, someone on Twitter pointed out that one of the clips from the Ellen interview and one of the stories in the movie seem... very similar.

Meghan on Ellen:
So I had this very old Ford Explore Sport and at a certain point the key stopped working on the driver's side, so you couldn't get yourself in through the door so after auditions I would park at the back of the parking lot and I would open the trunk and climb in, pull the door shut behind me and crawl all over my seats to get out. That's how I would come to and fro.
Fictional Meghan in the movie:
I'll tell you when I first started auditioning I was so broke. I couldn't even afford to fix my car. So when my locks broke and then the clicker stopped working, I literally had to climb in to the front seat of my car via the trunk.
Now I'm wondering if this really happened and the Lifetime scriptwriters got to know that detail, or it's another case of Meghan's truth not being close to the truth at all... Since it seems to be a pattern for quite a while now.

That does seem like such a specific scenario the movie writers would probably only come up with it if Meghan had talked about it somewhere before. Being a successful actor with a blog, that's not unreasonable.

Now whether the story is true... who knows.

I believe Meghan told the car story years ago, so the Lifetime movie was using a real story.

Here’s another segment from the Ellen interview where Meghan pull a street prank.

In other news, Paid Leave negotiations hit a bit of a roadblock because of Meghan’s involvement.

The talks hit a speed bump after it leaked that Gillibrand had given Meghan Markle the private cellphone numbers of senators in the hope she could pressure them to act

Some members considered that a breach of protocol, leaving them skeptical about future negotiations

Meghan told that car story back in her Suits days. It is not new information.

There are people who would love to see them disappear into a hole in the ground. However, DailyMail and other tabloids just can't seem to let it go. They don't have to publish articles about Harry and Meghan, but they can't help themselves. Why? Because people are interested in Harry and Meghan. Articles about them sell newspapers.

Is anyone aware of what Countess of Wessex is doing? I'm sure she is a nice person, but no one cares because she is exciting as watching grass grow.

Well in terms of lots of British people it’s more that they dislike H&M for the commercialisation & misuse of their status. Entirely understandable really given that the crown is part of British culture & identity. Flag & constitution in the US, monarchy in the UK.

It’s this natural & justifiable antipathy towards H&M that papers like the mail exploit. It’s not so much an interest in them as individuals really as the fact that they wind people up. That’s good copy & gets the clicks.

That reality, aversion to H&M among large sections of the British public, won’t go away anytime soon.

The Countess of Wessex by the way is exactly the sort of support that the crown needs. The only person who matters is the sovereign. The rest are a supporting cast & an uncontroversial dullness is just what the monarchy needs in order to survive (or should that be thrive?).

Believe me. In the UK context this makes perfect sense.

Ellen just ended. It was a very wholesome episode. Meghan talked about the kids. Archie adjusting to being a big brother but enjoys Lili. He dances a lot. It is also pretty clear that Meghan and Harry spend time with Ellen because she mentioned seeing the kids quite a bit.

Meghan did a prank. It was funny and the vendors were good sports. It ended with them highlighting a single working mother who donates her time to children by braiding their hair. Ellen donated $20K to her and Meghan matched it.

Good news for the mom!

Kirsten Gillibrand showed extremely poor judgement not so much in giving out her colleagues' numbers without mention — that was just inappropriate — but in actually thinking that Meghan would be able to persuade them to do anything, imho. What planet is she living on? :nonono:

I fear I disagree. To some American viewers maybe, who are used to such worshipping and to this kind of television show. But these hysterical shouts and jumps when meeting a celebrity - a deity to the audience it seems- can seem rather curious and unhealthy to outsiders. The unrational adulation for a group of spoiled, detached and overpaid famous nonentities strikes me as madness.

This 'all celebrities are friends' narrative/obsession by these celebrities themselves and the boulevard press is also quite puzzling. Don't they meet people outside that circle or are they stuck in some sort of celebrity-zoo?

Although the -lovely- woman who received money will be helped by it, to hand it out on television for your own glory is in very, very bad taste. Even more so at is done by very wealthy people who probably move heaven and earth to avoid paying their fair share of taxes but who do want to get applause when they are throwing a crum to somebody in need.

But I may not be the target audience for this as I found this show unbearable to watch for years, which is no fault of the Duchess. The Duchess herself was gracious and fortunately seems to have moved on from the topic of her family-in-law.

I have only seen snippets so cannot really comment, other than the prank which I found cringeworthy but that had nothing to do with it being Meghan I would have had that opinion regardless of who was on the show. I just do not find that funny, it is very dated humour. Not my cup of tea as they say.

So far those that have seen this show haven't made any mention if Meghan actually got serious and talked about the future. Where she wants to go, what she plans on doing and any word on Archewell at all?

If there wasn't, it sounds to me like it was a very superficial thing to watch. Glad to see that Archie is a ginger but that's not really surprising seeing as who his daddy is. :D

Osipi, I think you keep hoping for things here that ain't necessarily so.

She talked about her paid leave advocacy, apparently. (And donated 20K, so clearly they have no money worries or cashflow issues.) So I guess we can say that's what she's currently focused on.

Ellen is not really the serious type of show. It's more lighthearted stories and jokes... and of course the bullying accusations

I have to say that Ellen isn’t my favourite talk show host by a mile. Nevertheless, it’s a bit of light entertainment, not everything has to be serious and deep.

It looked to me like two women who get on well together chatting and having some fun. And I was very glad to see that Archie is a ginger, though different to his dad who was more coppery haired when small. Happy to see that Meghan still actively supports paid maternity leave. And I am sure that the single mum appreciated the gift of 40k from Ellen and Meghan. It will certainly help her pay a few bills.

I watched the interview and it was lighthearted - I actually enjoyed it too. Nothing controversial, just light entertainment. Pretty standard for the Ellen show

I have to agree. Watching Meghan drink out of a baby bottle was so uncomfortable. The whole prank just felt a bit mean spirited on Ellen’s part. But that appears to be Ellen’s type of humor. She seems to enjoy embarrassing her celeb guests.

Sadly I have to agree.

The baby bottle, along with the other ridiculous antics, reminds me of the old TV special "It's a Royal Knockout."

:previous: You read my mind.

And if Meghan is not VERY careful she is going to end up being Fergie for the millenials...with a better wardrobe.

Someone should emphasize to the Sussexes that talk show hosts are NOT their friends. They are in it strictly for ratings and in the case of Ellen, making you look as silly as possible. In fact, the more famous the sillier.

Remember Ellen having Michelle Obama push her around the drugstore in a shopping cart?

What's even worse are the celebrities willing to play clown for Ellen... probably to emphasize how "relatable and down-to-earth" they really are under all that fabulousness.:whistling:

Two observations:
Red hair runs on both sides of the family, and Archie's red hair can be from the Markle side.

I was not a fan of the prank, but in the early part of the skit / prank, I thought Meghan had good comedic delivery.

Ellen

I was surprised she went on Ellen, for two reasons.

1. Ellen has been accused of bullying, and this is her final season. Her star power is still great, but in decline. If I had to guess who Meghan would choose, it would have been Hoda on the Today show.
Kelly Clarkson is a rising star in the interview show format and May have been a better choice.

2. Ellen’s skits or scare tactics with her guests are often uncomfortable and ultimately embarrassing.

I’ve only seen ads for Ellen’s game show, but the premise seems to be the same…have a laugh at someone else’s expense. I suppose it follows in the genre of America’s Funniest Home Videos, which is successful but often cringeworthy.

I much preferred Ellen as a stand up comedian as she could be self deprecating.

Anyhow, Meghan didn’t seem to mind, and maybe that’s because they’re friendly in real life.

But, I worry those images of her squatting and drinking from a baby bottle will be memes for a long time whenever someone doesn’t want to take her initiatives seriously. She put her image at risk in this way. Harry’s interview with Cordon had that awkward bathroom scene but you couldn’t take an image of it…I think, actually and ironically, Harry may be more PR savvy.

She puts her image at risk??? From my point of view, that ship has long sailed.

This woman is still a British royal Duchess at the end of the day and drinking milk from a baby bottle etc is ridiculous behaviour for someone who still uses her title daily. Whether some people want to admit it or not this does degrade the Monarchy as she is the daughter in law and sister in law of the next two future Kings.
