Moonmaiden 23, I didn't say that there was no private interaction between Harry and Charles. If I were a betting person, I'd say there was. Especially with it being his never previously met Granddaughter Lily's first visit to England and first birthday too.
A smile, a nod between the two would have been nice to capture.

At this point, Netflix has been mentioned by so many people that aren't the Sussex's as if it's true that I need it to be. I'm going to be very sad if it doesn't happen.

Yes, that was reported. It was also reported after the initial news of the visit got out. Then a bunch of reports came out saying they said Charles but some said it was after the meeting, some said it was before the meeting, some reports said he was late and he had to 15 minutes but the crux is all of these came out after it was already said they met with just the Queen & that even her aides didn't know the meeting was happening.
The only thing that was confirmed was that the Sussex's met with the Queen and that was confirmed by the Sussex's themselves. Sure, they Charles could've met them as they were leaving after coming back from church that day but I don't believe the Sussex's met with Charles on purpose or planned to meet him. Their meeting, the only planned meeting was with the Queen.
Now, the report that they let met Charles yesterday? That I fully, 100% believe.

I was a little shocked they weren’t at the concert.
So they go to Trooping…no lunch.
St Pauls…no lunch.
It’s a little like the people, who go to afters of a wedding. Not that I am moaning. This should all be about the Queen.

I am not shocked at all. It was made clear to them that they could not be "half in, half out" and they are the ones who opted out.
If they were still working royals, living and raising their kids in the United Kingdom and serving the British people, they could have played a prominent role in the Jubilee.

Perhaps that was the terms and conditions offered to them.
The couple are a highly polarizing figure and the more they are seen the more they take the spotlight.
I'm inclined to think that their scanty appearance was/is intentional.

Fully agree. They have publicly been put in their place, there was no other way. Everything else would have caused endless discussions and deflected from the essence of the jubilee. They are out, not only on paper but in practice. I bet it was the deal they they could be present at the cost of absolutely no self promotion.
I am pretty sure too that they have met behind the scenes, all of them. But while the public is happy that H&M chose to attend while accepting their place, the public would been happy too about a little sign of appeasement between the brothers. But there was none and I assume, there is none in private too. The Queen will have been happy to have met Lilibet and will be on warm relation with the Sussexes, maybe Charles not so much, maybe William even less.
We can't forget, Harry's memoirs will come later this year and it won't be pretty. Nobody pays so much money for books that tell the public that they are one happy family.

I think that H&M may well prefer to have it like this. It fits their narrative: they are very close to the Queen, they only came to the UK to see and honour the Queen, the rest of the RF (esp C&C and W&C) are the baddies and H&M would not spend time with them.

It doesn't really seem like they've spent very much time with HM either. Even yesterday Zara's story was that she was going to be spending the day watching the racing on TV and relaxing. And given her need to rest I doubt she'd want to spend hours with an exhausting 3 year old and a 1 year old even if I'm sure she was excited to see them. If they wanted to actually spend time with her then it would have been better to stay a few days after the celebrations. Maybe they will, although there are rumours that they have already left. But no confirmation.

Other people who aren't working royals were at the lunch and the concert. I know a lot of people see Harry and Meghan as attention grabbing, but there's always the option of them preferring to stay out of sight because they know what the result would be. It's other people and the media that are intent on putting them in the spotlight.

If there is a rift I'm sure this is very helpful. A surefire way to mend past hurts, no matter who caused them.

The thing is the non working royals, ie family were at the extended events.
The balcony and the seating at the Cathedral reflected the working royals but other than that everybody attended.
Maybe they didn't want to attend. I cannot believe they were not invited to the family lunch after the Trooping of the Colour, but who knows.

It's actually the exact opposite of that. They've gone to the official portion and (allegedly) abstained from the social portion.

There's no rule that says she couldn't watch the racing (or the concert for that matter) with H&M without having to spend the entire time with the kids

Which non-working royals were at the Guildhall reception? I thought that was an official reception held by the City of London for working members only.
The concert , I agree, was a social event.

The York girls and their husbands, Peter Philips, Prince & Princess Michael were all present at the Guildhall reception.

OK, in that case, I agree it is odd that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited. I doubt they were invited and chose not to attend.

This report is from the Fail so to be taken with a bucket of salt, but…
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...e-Cottage.html
Harry and Meghan celebrated their daughter Lilibet's first birthday in Windsor yesterday with a 'relaxed' birthday party —with royal second cousins invited to the festivities.
The couple held an informal garden party at Frogmore Cottage, on the royal estate, with a birthday cake, balloons, party games and picnic snacks, it is understood.
The little girl's birthday party was open to Zara and Mike Tindall's three children, Mia, eight, Lena, three, and Lucas, one, as well as Savannah, 11, and Isla, 10, daughters of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly.
(Charlie Straubenzee (believed to be one of Archie’s godparents) was also there with his brother Tom.)

The time for the Sussexes to visit with HM, Charles or honestly any of the family members was going to be limited this weekend due to the very busy Jubilee itinerary and the time needed to travel to all of the events. Even if HM been well enough to attend all of the scheduled events, she was going to need some down time to rest in between activities.
Hopefully the Sussexes are considering a trip to Balmoral this summer, so they can spend some real time with HM and Charles or any other family members they wish to see.

And their presence is undoubtedly spoiling the occasion for the monarchy’s natural supporters. Just read comments in publications like the The Telegraph for confirmation of that.
|
It may surely be a fact that some supporters of the monarchy don't like Meghan and Harry for the move they made to quit being working Royals and move to the US. But for others they are surely a part of the modern monarchy because they went away from the job, but are now there for Harry's grandmother and as a support for his father. It simply is no longer one opinion for the monarchy and one against it when it comes to the Royal family and their way of life (and maybe it never was, come to think of Princess Margaret's life) and maybe it is really better that the people of the UK start to think of the difference between Catherine and Meghan/ William and Harry and how each of them live their lives. For to be honest - there is only need for William and his wife and children nowadays and people realize it would be unfair to press Harry's family into the Royal corset when there is not really a place for him there.
But - let's just wait what his life will be with Meghan in the future, right?
BTW - could Meghan be pregnant again? Okay, this is a speculation but if not, I wonder who had dressed he...

I would not draw the conclusion that H&M were not invited, they may have chosen to not attend.
As I said earlier today, I think the limited appearances suit the H&M narrative that they are only in the UK to support and see the Queen. The rest of the family, especially C&C and W&C are "baddies" in the narrative spread by H&M, and they do not necessarily want to be seen too much in public with them.

^ I agree with that, people are down-playing their support but a few people started to like them because they left or at least support their reason for leaving.
I highly doubt they've been put in their place. And they didn't need this event to do it, the Palace has already made it clear at position H&M. In all honesty, the public got to see how important they are to The Queen. But let's not forget, Harry chose to take his family away, after the year review, they chose not to comeback, when asked about his father & brother, he side stepped them.
I get people want them to publicly punished and made a fool but it's pretty clear, this was much just as their choice.

I honestly believe this. I mean, if someone spilled, just proves one of their points as Daily Fail is one of their 0 engagement outlets. But seeing as this pretty much obvious, I think it's guess-work on the Fail's part.
I went and read the article and The Sun was also mentioned, another 0 engagement outlet. So, someone spoke or it's guesswork on their part but it's not hard to believe.
I do find it funny that in this article, the mail mentions Charlie but failed it to realize it was him in the article about Harry riding his bike.
