I use a lot of American lingo and I haven’t been there before. Perhaps the Mail’s informant is British.

Or waiting for the premiere of Celebrity Big Brother on Aug 16 to see if Sam comes on the show so they make up stories as filler.
What's disturbing are Dad's statements in interviews that Meghan would be better off if he died. While that may be a ploy to guilt Meghan into contacting him security forces may think Dad is not of sound mind and it may not be safe for Meghan to be around him

I thought it was made known that she was turned down for that’s show. Why folks still talking about her joining?

Nothing has been credibly verified either way with Samantha's appearance in the lineup for CBB. There's really good reasons to believe she wouldn't make the cut and really good reasons why the producers would want her in the house.
We won't know until the first episode airs on August 16th, I believe.

It looks like the press has decided to play rough with dad

This could have be sanctioned by the palace because of the connections. But it looks like the press is turning on the family Markle.

Today Samantha tweeted to the Sun, " Knock off your crap losers! All I said about Trevor is that he's a lovely man,.. quit making up stories to sell your papers!"
I think she got a letter from Trevor’s lawyer. She was also freaked out about Daily Fail's story yesterday.

Very classic move by someone inexperienced with the tabloids. What she's tweeted to the Sun is just going to egg them on to go after her more and more and more. They got a rise out of her and that's exactly what they want.

I wouldn't be surprised. She actually somewhat defended Meghan as well by saying that the Daily Mail was making up stories because Meghan would never say what they claimed. I think most know that the DM is full of it, but Samantha saying it is interesting.
I do wonder if she nervous about lawyers. Trevor is minding his own business and is getting married. Samantha dragging his name into her drama likely caused him to call his team who contacted her.

Think about it: who has the wherewithal to tie up hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not more) to have a 'team of lawyers' available to 'contact someone'? Even one lawyer (on retainer, they wouldn't lift a finger otherwise in a case like this) would require a substantial retainer.
Were Trevor connected to some studio (say) with a pricey production in the works that he was connected to, okay. In that case studio lawyers might be in the mix (big maybe) but sometimes it's easier to just quietly let such liabilities push off and hire someone new. Trevor would be a fool to get involved in any of this from any distance in whatever way. JMO. He's keeping clear, as would anyone in the business. Slippery slope that can easily backfire: if anything in this business, one must be seen as discreet and focussed. No one wants to deal with loose cannons or opportunists. (Unless serious box office is in play. Money does talk and makes substantial allowances, usually). JMO.

I think Sam backtracked on Twitter because Trevor's lawyer reached her and told her to clean this mess up about my client or he will sue you for libel and defamation. Sam made thousands from the tabloids but that money would have been eaten up in court costs and attorney's fees. No lawyer is going to represent her for free. Sam would also be subject to cross examination; she won't be able to spool off like she does in interviews. Her inconvenient truths would be part of the record and public. Finally if she gets a judgment against her it could be for future money.

I've deleted a number of posts. This thread is not about royal reporters, or the coverage Meghan and Harry receive from the media and the tabloids. Let's keep this on-topic, which is Meghan and her family. Further off-topic posts will be deleted.

I don't think it would cost that much for a cease and desist letter to be sent to Samantha from Trevor's lawyer. He hasn't said anything and probably was not too happy about being dragged into this mess.
If you were implying that the BRF's lawyers are involved in Trevor's business, protecting him, I doubt it. They have bigger fish to fry.

No. And I never imply. I usually say exactly what I mean. I do think people make more of what is going on 'behind the scenes' (among regular sorts of people) than actually takes place. Might happen in a television drama. Real life? Not so much. Not worth the money that would be needed. Tabloid stuff is usually ignored, though there are the rare occasions when a top-tier actor will decide to sue. Always interesting when that happens. JMO.

For someone that backtracked and stated that she just said that Trevor was "a lovely guy", she sure seemed to have a whole lot other things to say about him in the original statements. I sincerely believe it was Samantha trying to draw Trevor into the mix and somehow, someway, its backfired on her either by Trevor or the tabloids or both.

Having a lawyer send a simple cease and desist letter doesn't seem to be that expensive, and perhaps Trevor might appreciate not being pulled into Samantha's one sided drama against Meghan. Her talking 'for' Trevor, and these 'news' might not be that well received by work colleagues. Being seen as a bitter blabber mouth producer, who might threaten people with exposing them, might not be the best. Sending Samantha a legal request to stop making stuff up about him, or he will take her to court might be worth the cost.

I would imagine that with the business that Trevor is in, he does have a lot of contracts drawn up that need to be gone over by lawyers from time to time. That's the life of a producer in the business. A simple cease and desist from his people to Sam's person (publicist) or even Sam herself speaks volumes.
Whatever Trevor did or didn't do surely hasn't been made public and that right there tells me that he's not going to be drawn into Samantha's crusade against his ex-wife. Trevor, like Meghan, has moved on with life.
