What a dreadful situation for Meghan to be put in. However, she strikes me as a very strong and dignified lady, and I have no doubt she will get through Saturday with a smile on her face, however sad she may feel inside.
And the Royal Family have changed in the past years - let's hope we see them wrap their arms around Meghan, make things as easy as possible for her, and welcome her into their family. I'm sure Prince Harry will be thinking of her above all else, and I'm also sure Camilla will prove a very pragmatic, calm and reassuring voice in this difficult situation.

I'm really sorry for Meghan and don't believe the latest story about 'trying to brush up his image' (there would be far better ways to do it than have yourself photographed in the same type of clothes in staged pictures faking some nonsensical preparation) nor the story about the heart attack (which is hurtful to people who truly suffered a heart attack and barely survived - and even more so for those whose loved ones died of a heart attack).

I'm among those who think it a realistic scenario that Harry might never meet his future father-in-law although my guess would be that KP is working hard trying to convince mr Markle to show up for the wedding as him not attending is considered worse optics than going through the motions although by now most people would know (and if they don't it will be discussed while Meghan enters the church) about his betrayal of his daughter and future son-in-law. So, I'm not sure that is the best for the couple. Probably best if Meghan just had her mom for support on her wedding day and not the stress induced by forcing her father to join her.

The entire situation is so incredibly sad all the way around. But what's worse is that this just adds fuel to the fire for those already throwing around so much criticism of Meghan and of Harry's choice to marry her. Even though every royal or even every famous wedding has it's detractors and those who would purposely try to stir trouble, I feel like this wedding has just been surrounded by so much drama and negativity and criticism right from the start. There's been so much criticism and skepticism of Meghan's background, her family, her race, the fact that she's American, her divorce, her profession. I just really feel like she must be feeling like she's bringing nothing but embarrassment to the BRF. I know that in her position I would, at this point, seriously be questioning my own suitability to join this family. Not that Harry or any member of the BRF are making her feel this way but I imagine there will be plenty of comparisons to Kate's family, the "eyerolls" coming Meghan's way from Beatrice and Eugenie, etc. Yes, those are all tabloid stories, etc., but I imagine that they start to have an impact after awhile. I can't imagine that poor Meghan isn't having a serious case of the "maybe I'm not good enoughs" right about now.

Said earlier, what next, but in the name of God......

I’ll add, good riddance to bad rubbish.

My father died shortly before my own wedding and the husband of my best friend, someone I had also known a long time, escorted me in. I will always adore him for this.

Poor Meghan. My wish is for Prince Charles to escort her----because he did not have a daughter of his own to honor this way---and because it sends the message that SHE IS ONE OF US NOW to the regrettable Markle clan.

This whole situation lands on the doorstep of Samantha Markle. Badly advising her father.

This make me so upset that Meghan has been put through this.

In a different thread, its been reported that Charles and Camilla landed by helicopter at KP today. To me, it seems that both Charles and Camilla may have come by KP to be part of a support system for Meghan and Harry amid all the turmoil they've been going through leading up to the wedding.

It would be sweet if Charles could walk Meghan up the aisle should Doria not do that honor. It would be a definite shout out that Meghan is family and that they have her back and support her when she needs it.

As time passes, it gives more and more credence to the statement Harry made around the holidays about Meghan now having the family she's never had before. The Markle side has turned out to be a three ring circus.

Yes; I also remember how many called for PH to apologize.

And I admire Prince Harry so much more because he was man enough to stand by his words and not apologize for what he said! Just goes to show....there was a lot going on that we, as outsiders looking in, knew nothing about.

Disagree Dman—she might offer to take the fall BUT he knows better. Looks to me that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

It shows that Harry has grit, and is a man of character.

That would be lovely. I hope it happens. Doubt it will, but I’d be pleasantly surprised and happy if it did.

First I think that Meghan has a target on her back and it is her family that is trying to destroy her entire life. For Sam to admit that she was the one that staged this entire thing with her dad to get those pictures shows just how far she will go to hurt and embarrass Meghan and tear her down. Sam is so blatantly jealous of Meghan and her life and successes that she will do anything to cause trouble for Meghan. This is not going to be over once the wedding is done, oh no, Sam will target Meghan for life now in every thing she does and I will eat my hat here if Sam stops after the wedding.

Tom Sr needs to crawl back into that dirty hole in Mexico and not rear his head again for what he is a huge betrayal to his daughter that can not be forgiven ever. He lied, he sold pictures, he posed for pictures with the media, he broke every vows of being a good father to his child......Shame on this man and his other children for I hope Meghan will never have anything to do with her dad again......yet he is not the worst dad...he just needs to crawl back to his hole and stay there!

Harry never having met this man has always seemed extremely odd to me. Why would they not have got together, even before the engagement, in total privacy? It could easily have been arranged.

Unfortunate that this issue has been allowed to fester until 4 days before the wedding. Surely all this could have been locked down before now? Like it or not, this is going to overshadow things enormously.

I would like to see Charles walk her up the aisle, I'm sure he would be more than willing to do it having walked one of his goddaughters up the aisle (from memory her father was still alive also).

Eh... it could also be the onset of dementia in Mr. Markle. So I'm going to hold my tongue on pronouncing any damning judgements.

Quite, I hope that in the future Ms Markle can be part of a family that values her, and treats her PROPERLY..

Right you are wyevale, the Royal Family have opened their hearts and arms to her. May that happiness continue...

Poor poor poor Meghan....at least she will escape them and live in another world....

Charles and Camilla visited KP this morning. I'm glad they are supporting them.

Their helicopter landed at the field close to KP and they were picked up. I haven't seen any reports that they paid a visit to H&M.

Right now, thinking of Meghan, I am reminded of a quip attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt. "A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water."

Both Meghan and Doria are strong, capable and accomplished women and they will pull through this and come out on the other side of the wedding with beautiful memories. The rainbow that will result from the aftermath of this terrible storm trying to put a pall on the wedding will be the gift of knowing just how much support, love and caring those actually close to Meghan have given her in the lead up to her wedding day.

Photos of their arrival. (Poor Camilla).

Article says they are staying at Kennsington Palace in the run up to the wedding - (I can't understand why, they already have a London home.)

I think it is a given now that her father is not reliable. Let us assume that KP convinced him to attend the wedding after all. Who knows what he might do on the actual wedding day ? What if he has a change of mind on the eve of the wedding and doesn’t have the courage to show up ? It is too much of a risk if you ask me.

I remember a day or so ago when Rudolph questioned the pics and got some flack...I wondered too as he did but said little. Well Rudolph, hat doff.

Kensington Palace, Day 97:

W: "George, are you still not willing to be a page boy?"
G: "No!"
W: "Why not?"
G: "Don't like people watching me and don't like 'tographers!"
K: "Where did he get that idea from :whistling: "
W: "There won't be that many people, George, only about half of who watched ours."
K: "So only about half a billion then!"
G: "I can only count to ten..."

Just my lighthearted reasonsing why we haven't yet heard about the junior wedding party!

On a sadder note, I am so sorry for Meghan what she's had to put up with from her family, except for her mother of course, who seems a very dignified and strong woman. I too hope Prince Charles walks Meghan up the aisle, because if she goes by herself, it will just look sad. Not that anyone needs to give a 36-year-old woman away; she's quite capable of giving herself!

I think they are overreacting. So what if Tom Sr. doesn’t show up ? It is not like Meghan has ever been close to him anyway. Maybe she is worried about being embarrassed because brides in the UK are expected to be given away by their dads, but we live in different times and, honestly, nobody cares.

The news about Harry blaming himself is troublesome too,. He admitted having had mental health issues before, feeling guilty about what happened to his mother, etc. if it is true that he is entertaining ideas that he is somehow cursed and that everybody who comes close to him ends up being hurt somehow, I would be very worried -about him.

I don't get it either!
It's not like Clarence House is far away.
Why would C&C need to stay at KP?

And Nottingham Cottage has only two bedrooms; I figured Doria would be using the spare.

Unless C&C stay with William and Kate?

Yeah that makes no sense. They have Clarence House, so why would they stay at KP for the week? I think the DM is just making stuff up.

Maybe Meghan really wanted him to walk her down the aisle. I see no reason to assume this wasn’t very important to her personally. I don’t think it’s fair to say Meghan has never been close to her father either. I’ve seen no evidence of that.
