The Fail reports that Markle relatives insist that Tom Markle will escort his daughter down the aisle in spite of his leg injury. I'm not even bothering to link that, but I hope he does. On that big moment in his daughter's life he will be a source of support and a bond with her homeland and a dozen other things. And I hope he meets Harry within the next few months.

We don't know. Is she any more likely to have peonies then any other flowers out there???

The only thing we can likely count on is myrtle. As it is tradition in the BRF to include it in bouquets. It has been since the time of Queen Victoria.

Peonies are her favorite.

The flower that first came to mind for me as far as the bridal bouquet goes is the Forget-Me-Not. That is a flower that has a special meaning for Harry as it was used in naming his charity in Lesotho "Sentebale" and was very much included in the display Harry helped create for the Chelsea Flower Show one year.

Do you all think Trump will get an invite? I hope not.

I doubt it. It’s a private family wedding.

No. It won't be able to accommodate a sitting president's security detail. All guests invited will be invited as personal guests of the couple and their families. The Obamas might be invites simply because they are friends with Harry and have worked with him on different things, but their security detail is far less now that he's not in office anymore.

This is not a State wedding so Heads of States will not be invited. If it were then the current POTUS would be on the guest list.

Its not a state occasion. Heads of state are invited to weddings when they are state events. William and Kate only had heads of commonwealth countries.

Obama and Trudeau if they are invited are not invited because they are or were heads of state/government . But because they are personal friends of the couple.

Peonies are her favorite.

We know she likes, maybe loves, them. That based on an Instagram post from a bouquet she received. May be a stretch to call them her favorite. But they are a common bouquet flower so wouldn't be surprised if used.

Agree Osipi :flowers: Would be a wonderful way to include his mother in a way. The charity was named that to honor the memory of the two mothers, both Diana and Seeiso's mother Mamahoto. Both women had a lot in common. Mamahoto was known as 'the mother of the nation' and did a lot of work helping vulnerable children. I think both mothers, Mamahoto died in 2003 (charity founded in 2006) would be proud of their sons and the work they do in their mothers' memories.

I truly hope Seeiso and his wife will be in attendance. Shocked if not.

Since it's not a state wedding, then it will not televised, nor will there be a carriage ride to BP or a kiss or the balcony I assume?

Darn!

It will be televised. There won't (most likely won't) be a kiss on the balcony since they are getting married at St George's.

Not being a state wedding have nothing to do with any of the other things. I believe the royal correspondents said that Jason Knauf confirmed it'll be televised at the BP briefing. There will be a carriage ride through Windsor. Nothing at BP or kiss on the balcony as it's not going to take place in London. However, we could get a kiss on the stairs outside of St. George. I'm hopeful seeing how naturally tactile they are.

Seeing as the wedding is at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, that alone cuts BP out of the picture. It most likely will be televised though. Edward and Sophie did not have a state wedding and it was televised. :D

I think you misunderstand what a state occasion is. Have you seen the weddings of William and Kate? Edward and Sophie? Andrew and Sarah? These were all televised. And none of them were state occasions. In the UK, the only weddings that are State occasions are those of the monarch or the heir. So the last state wedding was Prince Charles. Before that would have been the queen.

There will be no ride to Buckingham palace or kiss on the balcony. Why? Because they aren't getting married in London. They are getting married at Windsor, at St George's.

The reception is being held at Windsor Castle, not Buckingham Palace, so no carriage ride or balcony kiss. They said the ceremony will be televised.

A carriage ride might still feature at Windsor, there is a route they could follow and maybe that’ll be what they meant by “including the public”? But texankitcat is right, the ceremony will absolutely be televised but no balcony appearance or kiss as Windsor doesn’t have a balcony for the purpose.

Watching them in Nottingham, I'd be very surprised if they DIDN'T kiss publicly on their wedding day! And more than once, I'd wager.

It will be televised, like Edward and Sophie. I think the likelihood of it NOT being televised would be smaller than a split atom.

I want Meghan to have as much as possible. If the reception is at Windsor Castle is a carriage ride still possible?

Yes. Take a look at Edward and Sophie, and even photos of Autumn and Peter, who got married at St George's. There was a carriage ride involved with both.

Trudeau is not a head of state, he's a head of government. Canada's head of state is the Queen.

If the Obamas are invited it will be because of their personal friendship with Harry and Meghan. If the Trudeaus are invited, it likely is because Justin Trudeau is the head of one of HM's governments. I actually wouldn't expect the Trudeaus to be invited if the PMs and/or GGs of the other Realms are invited. Meghan having a personal friendship with Sophie Gregoire Trudeau won't make inviting one of the PMs of a Commonwealth realm, but not the rest.

I've edited and deleted a number of off-topic comments. As long as you don't get political, it's fine to discuss whether the Obamas or Trump (or any government official) will attend the wedding.

Sorry, head of government. :ermm:

But no, if Meghan chose to invite Sophie and her husband to attend, it would not be because they are heads of the government. It would simply be as personal friends of the bride. Unless either of the couple has a personal relationship with any other PM that I am not aware of, there would be no requirement for them to be invited to the wedding. This is a private family wedding. They get to invite who they choose.

It's like arguing you cant invite Obama without inviting Bush and Clinton. Note when William and Kate married they caused a stir when neither Brown or Blair were invited to the wedding. They were the only former PMs not invited to the wedding. Why? Because the others were not invited because of their position. They were invited because they were members of the garter, and all members of the garter were invited.

Invitations to the Obamas and Trudeaus would be extended Inspite of who they were, not because of who they are.

I think I've missed something: Mr Markle has a leg injury? :ermm:

I do wonder who the designated child wrangler will be in the wedding party of PH and Meghan. Won't be Kate---even if George and Charlotte are involved I don't see her being expected to provide the same favor that she offered her sister, especially with a newborn in the background.

So......an older junior bridesmaid like Lady Louise? Do Meghan's American or Canadian close friends have daughters of an age that would work? Have to admit I would love to see Louise in the wedding party.

Meghan is godmother to Benita Litt's 2 daughters who are both under 5 .
And the there is Jessica Mulroney's 3 kids who are 7 and 4 (her sons are twins)

I wonder if we will see any kids from Meghan's mother's side of the family. We don't know as much about Meghan's relationship with any on that side.

Can't tell if she isn't close to any of them or if they are just keeping mum.

Well, the guests will be getting plenty of potassium, if true.

I would love to have banana bread cake at any wedding - what a lovely surprise... it's so moist and yummy.

But I still don't get how people knew the banana pic Meghan posted on instagram was such a "tell". Can someone clue me in? Do bananas mean something royal? I've been confused for a year, lol.

No, it’s not a tell. It’s just that was posted when they were outed. Right before the racist and sexist stuff got out of control. Harry was in Toronto at that time too, so people just have generally read a lot into it.
