Meredith is working for PBS? I thought she was retired?

She still does some stuff, but only in a limited capacity. She still goes on The View once in awhile.

Given that it starts Monday and will last for the week, I'm gonna say yes. I'm sure more details will emerge.

Will we hear an announcement about if Harry will wear a wedding ring before the wedding?

Most likely it will be announced before the wedding whether or not Harry decides to wear a wedding ring or not. It was announced before William's wedding that he would not be wearing one.

A 5-part special on PBS ? That is getting out of hand and a little bit too much for the wedding of a foreign prince who happens to be 6th in line to the throne and probably will never be king .

Prince Harry is the very popular son of the late Princess Diana (who was loved by the US media) and he is marrying an AMERICAN!!!!! Of course the US media would have been interested in one of their own marrying into the world's most famous royal family. Even more so that she is biracial, divorced and and an actress. This unique pairing is fascinating to people.

What does any of it have to do with anything? It’s a momentous occasion and there is a demand. It’s quite simple. Not sure what is getting out of hand.

I'm surprised about the commemorative coin for Harry and Meghan's wedding. Harry is sixth in line to the throne. Did the Royal Mint do this for Charles and Camilla and Edward and Sophie?

Harry's place in the line of succession has nothing to due with it. He is extremely popular and if you thought the global press would shrug him off just cause he 6th in line, then that was an error.

I meant that it is excessive coverage that is not justified or needed, especially in a public network which is not commercially oriented and should be concerned with more relevant public issues, or with culture and education.

I guess there IS general interest, otherwise these specials wouldn't be happening. There's always the choice of not to watch. But I'm betting many people will tune in and watch.

Obviously PBS disagress! In the end, PBS wants people to tune in to their channel too. In addition, PBS always show British royalty related programs and d documentaries.

I'm not sure if it's considered excessive if there is still a demand to satisfy. And PBS will look at things from a different perspective than say CBS or ABC, which will mostly focus on the pop culture aspects of it. And really, an American woman marrying into an actual reigning royal family is a rare and momentous occasion. On top of that she's the first biracial woman in modern history to marrying into the most famous royal family on the planet. She might not be marrying the heir, but he's senior enough that they will be part of the core royal family for years to come. Not every king have cultural or educational relevance either. So I'm seeing why it would matter if they are in the direct line to the throne.

You do know that this wedding is an historic occasion, right?

Well, BBC did deem it as of national importance. But I guess that's not important enough.

The only surprise would be if the American media and press weren’t covering it. Look at the titles of some of the books, ‘An American Princess’, ‘A Hollywood Princess’. The draw is more about Meghan being American than anything else

Even Edward and Sophie’s wedding had an audience of 200 million people and was covered by BBC and CNN
