Unless the Queen gives him a position in a different unit, like she did with William.

I would think that's what his Marine appointment was for.

So from what I'm reading the Household Guard is going to line both sides of the steps of St George's (staircase party is the term I'm seeing used)....that is going to be gorgeous...to see Harry/Meghan come down those steps!
Richard Palmer:
Members of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment will form a step lining party at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle as part of the wedding. The State Trumpeters and a travelling Escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment will also provide ceremonial support.

It's private in the sense that it's not a state occasion and they aren't bound to as many restrictions, but this is obviously a public occasion.
I'm not familiar with the military. Can someone explain to me what's a staircase party?

So does it just mean they'll be standing on the sides of the stairs?

Yes, it’s going to be beautiful indeed.

Yes and I cannot wait to see that! I don't know if they will do any type of salute or draw swords as they come down, not sure of the customs of the British military etc.

I think so. I wonder whether they will hold their swords high to form an arch so the bride and groom walk out underneath. I think Camilla and APB had that.

The military will line the staircase. William had one at Westminster Abbey except they lined the entrance as there is no staircase per se

I think if he wears his blues and Royals uniform he can use swords. Not sure it’s a tradition the marines use.

The Marines in the U.S. do...but they may be different in the U.K.

Maybe they do win the U.K. as well. I’m only guessing. They’re probably just figuring out the logistics of it

It isn't uncommon for soldiers from one's regiment, [or colleagues from one's unit in the Police Force] to 'cross swords' and form a 'Sabre Arch' in Britain, but i've never seen it done where there are lots steps down from a Church door...

I think we will see some foreign royals at the wedding.

There’s a protocol officer who works at the palace to handle this sort of thing.
There will be a representative from Greece. Probably a couple of the Duke of Edinburgh’s German relatives. After that it’s difficult to say.
Harry has no relationship with any crown heads of Europe or the Middle East.
Charles does though. Space is limited and 600 seats fills up pretty fast when you’re a royal.
Just a wait and see.

I would expect to see one representative from the Greek Royal Family, and one each from the DoE’s sisters’ descendants. Other than that... it’s been made clear that this is a private, not state or semi-state wedding. If there are any foreign royals, I wouldn’t expect more than one couple per house, and only reigning houses. Even then, I’m not really expecting it.
