Whilst I can imagine the Sussexes visiting Africa at some point, I highly doubt they will undertake any major tour whilst Archie is still a baby. Perhaps this is a visit scheduled for next autumn and the media misreported? Still no confirmation from the Palace so I'm just going to wait and see.

Yes, it's very interesting that there has not been any confirmation. I got all excited, because I love royal tours, but I guess we're in wait and see mode.

Omid is has even posted about it and he is usually very cautious about these things.
It makes sense really...they both love Africa and we know Harry for sure has ties thru various charities..IIRC so does Meghan.
I am thinking it will be hard for them to leave Archie if we are talking 2 or 3 weeks. If it was just a week I'd lean more toward he's not going...but 2 or 3 weeks..I wonder if they will do like C&D did with William in Oz..keeping him at a specific location and then popping in and out to see him.

Yes, Meghan worked with World Vision on their clean water project in Africa. She made a trip to Rwanda for the program.
Harry and Meghan have been to Botswana twice together. One trip including Meghan visiting one of Harry's wildlife projects. And I believe she has visited Sentebale there as well.
Meghan was involved in issues like women's menstral health as well as education and empowerment of women in poverty stricken countries. We saw the education focus in Morocco. I could see them being able to find a way for her to touch on them when they were in Africa. Between Sentebale and the Commonwealth universities which Meghan is a patron of, there are many possibilities.
Harry of course is Patron of African parks as well as Sentebale of course.
If they do bring Archie, the leave him one place and visit makes sense.
Again if this is true.

Nice to see it confirmed. It is said to be happening in October for around 2 weeks per ITV.

I would be more concerned if Harry and Meghan also toured Angola and took Archie with them.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Meghan incorporates local fashion on this tour. It would be an enormous coup for a local designer if she wore their clothes.
I’m also very curious how they’ll handle the logistics of a 5-month-old baby on tour in Africa.

I think they meant it would boost the local economy because local ladies would buy hats to attend events where the Duke and Duchess would be present.
Anyway, I believe it was supposed to be a joke and not to be taken as a statement of fact.

Maybe they expect the crowds to buy hats to wear while they wait for them at each walkabout?

The quote from the High Commissioner was about the locals having a hat & dress buying frenzy not Meghan.

Well, I'm looking forward to this tour. So far, it seems only South Africa is confirmed. Do we have any ideas about other countries that would be visited on this tour?

Surprised the palace has let this announcement get away from them - another PR misstep.

Agreed, whoever was supposed to put out the information let the ball drop. Very sloppy.

It does seem that the High Commissioner jumped the gun as no one else has come out and confirmed rest of the trip yet. Perhaps he thought he could talk about it as some news outlets have gotten wind of it.
