I also think so. English as a medium being offered in various European Universities is pretty ordinary.
Wherever his decisions will take him, I support Nikolai.
Countess Alexander might have freaked out upon learning this good news.
Congrats again, Nikolai!

Great news! I don't doubt he'll be happy with his own choice.
BT implied that the court initially refused to comment as it was a "private matter" Good on Nikolai for taking matters into his own hands then.

How is Nikolai's English now ? I believe I never heard him speaking English.

Why would she freak out? Why her? And why freak out? It's what all of them hoped for I assume.
Or is it another expression that is positive to you and has a slightly different connotation to me?!

Was his subscription and him quitting the military also a private matter? Sounds as if they don't really know what to do with their highnesses (the non-royal ones).

Well done Nikolai! I hope this means that he'll be more comfortable with this particular path.

As far as I know 'freak out' doesn't always mean 'extremely upset and angry' but also 'extremely surprised.'
I love this family so much. I wouldn't say anything bad about them.
Nikolai deserves much praise for choosing a path of his own. I love him to death!

Or even so happy and excited about something that one "freaks out."

That's what I guessed. But why do you think especially Alexandra got that excited and not Nikolai himself?
Does Nikolai know that you love him to death (I would warn against it )?

Nope. The DRF's communications department is just a mess. It has been for as long as I've been paying attention to them but it seems they've really been struggling in the last couple of years and especially (although definitely not exclusively), as you say, regarding Joachim's family.

Interview (*) with Nikolai in Billed Bladet #35, 2019.
Written by Henrik Salling and Trine Larsen.
Nikolai celebrated his twentieth at his mother's house, with close friends and family.
"The day is to be celebrated quiet and peacefully (i.e. no fuss) and there will be BBQ'ed in the last good summer weather."
On a day to day basis Nikolai reportedly lives in an apartment at Amalienborg with his girlfriend Benedikte Thoustrup.
In connection with his B-day, new portraits were published, made by the photographer Steen Brogaard. And for once Felix is not there. There is no special reason for that. Felix simply couldn't be there when the session took place.
Right now Nikolai has started at Copenhagen Business School.
"I'm still toying with the idea of a foreign study. To take the fifth semester at a university abroad (here meaning far abroad, not Europe) would be a huge experience for me."
Nikolai speaks German, English and French.
He will have to make a living for himself.
He will not receive an apanage.
So what he will be up to is watched with interest by the press.
"In 5-10 years I will have finished my education and is placed in a job somewhere. Where? Time will tell.
Three wishes? That would be health, a good education and then garnishes with a bit of luck."
(*) This is not an interview as such. I suspect strongly that one of the BB reporters happened to meet Nikolai somewhere, whether by accident or not, and they chatted a bit.
I suspect it was Henrik Salling he met, because that reporter has covered both of Joachim's families for at least half of Nikolai's life and as such Nikolai know the reporter pretty well. Presumably well enough to accept being interviewed on the go, so to speak.
It's no secret that BB allocated specific reporters to specific members of the DRF and over the years build up a close professional relationship with each other. In the case with Trine Larsen and PH it evolved into a friendship.

Muhler, you are awesome!
Nikolai and Felix are to watch for. It's lovely to see him answer very comfortably and straight to the point on this interview.
I never doubted this Prince to be very intelligent. May his relationsip with Benedikte Thoustrup last long. Which family is this girl from?

You are welcome.
She is the daughter of an affluent businessman from my part of the country actually, but I don't know much about the family though.
But I believe they must be respectable otherwise I think the relationship would have ended and there would have been no chance of her being allowed to move in at Amalienborg with Nikolai.

It's been quite moving hearing Trine talk about Prince Henrik in the BB podcast. It's evident that she cared a lot for him.
