Yes, and I think it would be quite stupid of Marie to start a fight with the future queen.
I think those comments are quite annoying, just like the comments about a rivalry between Alexandra and Mary were. They make both sides look bad. And I would like to believe that these women are on a much more mature level.

I'm surprised to see how many speculation about the relationship of Mary and Marie are going around in this thread.
Maybe the best would be to wait a bit until Mary and Marie had time to get to know each other and will show each other together in public during official events.
Until then everyone should stay relaxed and see them as 2 totally different women.
I never expected that there would be so many people who talk so badly about Marie.. My first impression of her today was quite a good one. She and Joachim looked really cute together and it was lovely to see the Prince supporting his future wife during the inteview.

But at the same time in this instance since it is a second marriage maybe it is better for the sake of others that it was kept a secret. However, still a little annoying to me that it was kept quiet.

It was kept quiet because Folketinget (Parliament) was on holiday. As long as they're on holiday, I don't think there are councils of State. Without that, Margrethe couldn't have officially given her permission for the couple to wed. Formalities, but it would be rather odd to announce the engagement and then fail to get the queen's permission...

Joachim - Alexandra (Hong Kong) - Marie (France)
Frederik - Mary (Australia)
Margrethe - Henrik (France)
Benedikte - Richard (Germany/Prince)
Anne-Marie - Constantine (Greece/King)
Frederik IX - Ingrid (Sweden/Princess)
Knud - Caroline-Mathilde (Denmark - Princess) - male children from this marriage married Danish commoners, and lost their rights to the Danish throne.
Christian X - Alexandrine (Mecklenburg-Schwerin/Duchess)
Frederik VIII - Louise (Sweden/Princess)
Christian IX - Louise (Hesse-Kassel/Princess)

The commentators before the press conference called him one of the more hard-working members of the royal family, and seemed fairly impressed with how he had turned Schackenborg around from being a not-so-profitable farm, to finding a niche for the products.

isn't it a lovely one? i suppose that in the same fashion that mary and alexandra are (were) addressed as HRH princess mary elisabeth or HRH princess alexandra christina (when she was a princess), marie will be referred to as HRH princess marie agathe. quite an adorable name and even nicer title!

I've always loved "Odile" as a name. Congratulations to the couple.

Does anyone know when Marie will have her first official engagement for the Danish Royal House?
Is there something mentioned in the calendar already?

I don't understand this either Why not assume that they will both end up greatly relieved that the other one is there to pull her share of the work done by the royal family - and possibly become really good friends too?

Most Danish commentators are guessing May - a popular month for royal weddings in Denmak - and the April weather here is usually rather capricious. At least one historican also guess that the wedding may take place at the chapel at Møgeltønder. I am not sure about that; even if this wedding will be more low-key than Joachim's first at the palace church at Frederiksborg the wedding party will be of some size I guess. Perhaps they will use the chapel at Fredensborg - where Isabella was christened this summer.

Sometimes I must really smile about the "feelings" here - I do so love speculations myself but on what information are these feelings based? We've as far as I remember only seen pics from one occasion where Mary and Marie were together. Is that enough to already believe there is a catfight coming up?
Maybe some people here should send me pictures from only one of their family occasions (with all people involved smiling) and I will tell about my "feelings": if they enjoy the company of their relatives or if they go shopping together or if they wish for a funeral in the near future.... LOL! What an idea!

For finally there is another girl with similar experiences - why should Mary not be really happy to have a new sister-in-law?

But in May Crown prince Frederik turns 40. I also think that they will use Fredensborg as it would be strange if he would marry a second time at Frederiksborg where his first marriage took place.
How big is the church at Schackenborg, and how much space is at the Castle there for the Ball afterwards.
