Crown Princess Mary as WHO Patron will travel to Moldova from November 23 - 25, 2016.
She will travel together with WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr. Zuzsanna Jakab. The visit will "focus on regional challenges in relation to vaccination, maternal and child health as well as anti-microbial resistance". The aim also is to "gain a deeper understanding for WHO's work and challenges in the European region".

Thursday, November 24
9:30 Visit to the Public Health Institute
10:30 Visit to a vaccine stock, Vaccine Cold Chamber, the Public Health Institute.
12:00 Working lunch with members of the UN country office in Moldova
14:00 Visit to the Mother and Child Institute
17:00 Visit to the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Crown Princess Mary will make a speech and meet graduate student at the School of Management in Public Health
19:30 WHO dinner
Friday, November 25
9:30 Visit at a health centre that offers vaccination of children

I understand Moldova is one of the most backward and under-devoloped parts of Europe. Not least in regards to general healthcare and infra-structure.

Yes, unfortunately Moldova never thrived after the fall of the Soviet Union. It has few natural resources and relies on energy from Russia which has left it highly in debt. The mortality rate is poor and unfortunately tuberculosis is rampid, because of lack of funding.

Moldovians has nothing else to export. The country was/is known for its wines. There were fruit orchards too. I am not sure if they still exist.
Overall, the visit is for appearances' sake.

When Mary today visited the vaccine storage in the capital all of the country's leading TV stations were present with reporters and cameramen.
The Crown Princess answered so friendly and smiling to the questions that the local journalists expressed how sweet and down to earth they think the Danish Crown Princess is.
Crown Princess Mary gave an interview after seeing the vaccine warehouse, which mothers and children especially have good use of. With using of a very fast-speaking interpreter was the Moldovan questions translated into English so Crown Princess Mary could answer, and then Mary's answers was translated to local journalists.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was awarded the honorary title Doctor Honoris Causa of USMF.
At a special event at the Medical University of Moldova's capital recieved Crown Princess Mary an honorary doctorate and wore a special dress with matching hat.
Mary went humblyon stage wearing the hat and cape and began by saying that, as she was wearing this particular dress, she felt like her father John Donaldson, who is mathematics professor

The little baby girl fell in love with Mary, and Mary couldn't resist her and her soft baby hand. They held each others hand in a good time while Mary talked to the mother about vaccines.
Before departure from the clinic to the airport Crown Princess Mary was interviewed by Moldovan TV. Mary expressed that it general had been a positive experience to see how dedicated the country's health sector is working to improve the situation of mothers and their young children.
it was last event for Mary during her 3-days visit with WHO in Moldova. With a short flight home must Mary have landed back in Denmark already and can hold Friday evening with husband and children
