Princess Isabella's confirmation: April 30, 2022

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I shall look forward to that. That and QMII's birthday.

We really need something - anything - to celebrate this year!

Looking forward to it as well. She turns 15 on the 21st, exciting times for Isabella.

(..)

Yesterday, the DRF released editorial information about Isabella's confirmation next week: * Advisory for editors: HRH Princess Isabella's confirmation *

Sounds like the exact same procedure from Christian's confirmation. The Crown Prince family will arrive – presumably walk from the Chancellery House to the Fredensborg – and presumably meet QMII at the front stairs. After the service, the family will pose at the garden stairs and subsequently official pictures will be released.

Thanks for the information, I look foward to this.

Will the Scandinavian Royals attend? I guess Queen Mathilde will, do you think her youngest daughter will come with her?

:previous: The confirmation collides with CG's birthday on the 30th, so it's probably unlikely with Swedish attendance. The Norwegians don't have any official engagements scheduled so maybe they'll be there?

I hope at least both Princess Alexia of Greece and Denmark and Queen Mathilde will be there. I doubt Mathilde would bring any of her children but when she and Philippe visited Denmark in 2017, she did mention that Isabella had been to Belgium so maybe she has met Eléonore, so perhaps it's not completely unlikely.

According to German media - and our messageboard - Mathilde was tested positive with COVID. I don't know how ill she is or how long you have to stay in quarantine, but would that not make it impossible for her to attend the confirmation?

:previous: That would depend, I suppose, on when she was tested positive and when she is free from symptoms. In Denmark, the current recommendations are that if you are symptom-free four days after testing positive, you can end your self-isolation.

Thanks.
I hope she can attend it would be lovely for Isabella. Some of Mary's family should be there also, maybe both sistersas it has been sometime since they have seen the children

As far as i remember she has no swedish royal godparents as Victoria is a godmother of Christian.

:previous: Indeed, but the Scandinavian royals usually attend each other's big family celebrations. For example, Victoria, Haakon and MM all attended Isabella's christening even though none of them were godparents, so not unlikely to think they'd receive an invitation to her confirmation as well.

Could be but it would be a bit odd if the future Heir had such an intimate confirmation (yes i know because of Covid) with not even all of his grandparents present and now the confirmation of his sister would be a much bgger affair.

The Fredensborg Palace Church was also the venue for the Confirmation of Prince Christian?

Indeed but I also don't think it's entirely fair if Isabella and the twins would have to scale down their confirmations just because Christian's happened to be marred by a worldwide pandemic...

I'm sorry that John Donaldson is not present at Isabella's confirmation. But I hope he's okay.

This quote is from an article in BT, about her trip to Bangladesh:
Desværre kommer min far ikke. Jeg er lige fløjet ud til ham, men han er ved at være en ældre herre
"Unfortunately my father won't be coming. I've just flown out to him (in Australia) but he is becoming an elderly gentleman."

- I imagine age has caught up with him and he is now too frail to handle the very long flight.

Mary and Frederik have posted some lovely photographs of Isabella and family through the years in anticipation of her confirmation tomorrow.

These are just wonderful!

It is Isabella's confirmation tomorrow, and as far as I can tell, there will be no live coverage on the public service channels. But I should be very surprised if BB and probably BT as well will cover it live, with one camera team each.

Isabella, as you may have observed, is a girl. The first teenage princess in DK for some 60 years. As such there is a good deal of interest in her, but by the public and by the media.
The fashion editor for the women's weekly Femina, has been talking to the gossip mag, Se & Hør about Isabella:
https://www.tvguide.dk/nyheder/2022/04/ekspert-faelder-dom-over-prinsesse-isabella
The editor, Louise Rasmussen, says: "When a Princess dare show that she is not always following the norms, but dare break them by putting her own personal touch on her style and does not let herself become dictated by old traditions, it shows an independence and a curiosity, which many of us know from ourselves, and in that way she is getting more at eye-level with other teenage girls.
I certainly think she inspires young girls and perhaps even other foreign princesses. Certainly in showing the world that you as a princess can be into fashion and dress in wild colors and that you can combine the blazer-look at special occasions, with the baseball cap-look on a day to day basis."

- Pleading incompetence and ignorance in regards to teenage fashion, I have no comments. ;)

Were the confirmations of Princes Frederik and Joachim as low-key as the confirmations of Prince Christian and Princess Isabella?

Please feel free to move this question to the appropriate thread.

In a sense, yes.

Because we only had one public service channel back then. So the coverage would have been limited and aired in a segment on the evening news.
Otherwise it would have been photos in magazines and newspapers.

Per this BB article it seems they will he following the events all day on their webpage and their FB page. They will be reporting from the location

From around noon. That's in less than four hours from this is posted.
I'll provide a running commentary.
The weather is dry and sunny, albeit not too warm, so good photos coming up.

Queen Mathilde is there.

We'll see from the official guest list published later, whether other royals will attend.

Thanks Muhler! Wonderful to hear Queen Mathilde is there! There was speculation about her attending given her being positive for covid recently.

Checking the BB website, they're all over this confirmation.

Photos of the guests have been posted.

Okay, the family walked from Kancellihuset to the main entrance of Fredensborg Palace, where they were received by QMII. Here they briefly posed for the photographers. And now they will will continue with the actuall confirmation. They will walk from a side entrance to the palace church, and we won't see much of that.
But at 13.00, that's in an hour, the family will again pose for the photographers, when the confirmation is over. - And then the private celebration of Isabella will start.

BB will again send live from shortly before 13.00.

In the meantime get ready for loads of photos.

Let's go through some of the guests: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongeli...til-prinsesse-isabellas-konfirmation#143234-1

Preben Kristensen and Ellen Hillingsøe
Preben Kristensen is the husband of Mary's hairdresser Søren Hedegaard.
They are also personal friends of M&F.
The Hillingsøe family are old friends of the DRF, with Ellen Hillingsøe being an inner circle friend of M&F.

The Estrup family. Don't know about them.

The Fleming family from Valdemar Manor.

The Heering family, with Peter Heering being the godfather of Isabella. Inner circle friends.

Wasn't it like this at Christian's confiormation too? Wonder why they never use the direct entrnace to the Castle Church as it is on the Way from Kancellihuset.

Probably to please the onlookers. By going this way, they will pass close to the place where members of the public are standing. - And the photographers get more time to snap away from all angles.

The BT coverage: https://www.bt.dk/royale/live-nu-bliver-prinsesse-isabella-konfirmeret

Photos and videos.

The friends are arriving: https://billedbladet-prod.imgix.net...op=focalpoint&auto=format&ixlib=imgixjs-3.4.0
Looks like a very chatty crowd!
Poor Frederik, his ears will be ringing for the next few days. :D

Hmmm... they look pretty uniformed. Perhaps it's the choir?
It is the choir.

Nice weather, so quite a crowd has showed up.

As mentioned before BT has a live blog, if you wish to congratulate Isabella or her family or have a question you wish to ask, you can do so by hitting this text: Stil spørgsmål (ask question) in the black beam to the upper right.

Don't worry about asking in English, the reply will probably be in Danish, but I'll be around to translate if your question is published.

https://www.bt.dk/royale/live-nu-bliver-prinsesse-isabella-konfirmeret

You click on Stil Spørgsmål.
Then you are required to submit a username.
Click Næste = next.
Then you write your text.
And hit send.
