Kamikker til Christian - Kamikker for Christian.
Written by Anna Johannesen.

As you know Christin was on the occasion of his first day at school presented with a pair of kamikker (boots) sewn by Sofie Elisabeth Andreasen from the hamlet of Narsarmijiit and a traditional anorak, used as national attire for men, sewn by Rita Ottesen from the hamlet of Qaqortoq, both located in southern Greenland.

Christian was presented with the gifts by second deputy mayor Thomas Ezekiassen and as you can see from the pics it took place at Amalienborg.
Afterwards Christian posed with his parents and an approvingly looking Isabella, wearing his new Greenlandic national costume.

Thomas Ezekiassen said to our reporter: "We didn't expect Prince Christian to wear the kamikker on the first day to school, but (we) hope he will use the present at other occasions. Perhaps we'll see him and his parents in Greenland next year. At least now they have been invited".
However, M&F cannot say when they will be going to Greenland with their children.

Thomas Ezekiassen added: "The little girl (Bella) will naturally also get a present later on, but that may be something completely different".

- My guess is still on a Greenlandic female national costume.

Thanks for comments in this thread and the others Muhler. Always makes for delightful reading. I am looking forward to the day when the whole family will go to Greenland just to see the children in their costumes and to see the response of the Greenlanders (hope that is the correct word).
