Great photos of Christian and Frederik.
When does the school year begin?

I wonder if I should feel sorry for the people at the Daily Fail as their article really showed how very different the two women are. Kate and Mary are nothing alike.

:previous: They know that. :whistling:

But any article with a foreign royal being compared to a BRF member is guaranteed to attract comments.
That many of those who comment don't seem to even have read the article doesn't matter...

IMHO it just provides "clickers" with the opportunity to bash the women who are being compared.

More pictures of Frederik and Christian sailing on August 28 during the Dragon Gold Cup 2016.

You nailed it.

They know exactly what they are doing at DM.

Yesterday, Frederik participated in the sailing championship, this time without Christian as he is in school. Monday, Frederik did not participate, as regent he held the official audiences at Christiansborg Slot. The sailing takes place about an hour from Copenhagen.

Prince Henrik has been in Denmark since (at least) Monday. Odd that he doesn't want to attend the 70th birthday celebrations in Greece.

Perhaps he's got flu? :p

Alas, I guess many such requests are declined.

Perhaps especially foreign requests. There has to be some sort of higher purpose for a protection I imagine.

I think it is rude for the children to be rejected like this

I understand when it is an association of adults who are asking a patronage but they are children, is it not their work to help children or handicaped persons. ?
The princess would have only send a card for the end of the year and a little help sometimes and the children would have been happy.

It is desappointing from the court of denmark

Mary is the Princess of Denmark not of Tasmania, where she is expected as her duty to be patron, an active patron of many organisations; cards at the end of the year don't cut it! It's a serious business.

Had she accepted I daresay every club in the land would be clamouring for the same!

Its sad for the team but a bit hard for the Royal Court to do much about as they are so far away. I guess they could have send a picture or something, Mary could have been asked to sign a card for example so at least it seemed to had more involvement than just a reply from their staff. If the Royal Court was really creative Mary could have made a video wishing them well and saying she would support them but couldn't be their patron.

Yesterday , Frederik attended a concert at Tivoli of one of his favorite bands. Frederik had asked to meet the band and they posted a picture on instagram.
According to the article Mary's brother John Stuart was with Frederik to the concert .

Kronprinsen hemmeligt til Dizzy-koncert i Tivoli

the Donaldsons have always been discreet but it's nice to read that Mary's brother is in town.

Marys brother, John Donaldson, is in Denmark and enjoying some family time with his little sister, Frederik and children. (..)

Perhaps many from the Donaldson family are in town as Mary's father could celebrate his 75 years birthday some days ago? Maybe they all have celebrated home at Mary and Frederik and children :)

The other very well-known forum that follows Mary and Frederik was named - and quoted - in a double-page feature about the CP Couple in one of this week's Australian magazines.

And it was a well-balanced article about Frederik's "restlessness" as his Royal duties get more demanding - not an article about negative internet coverage of them.

I wonder if TRFs will get the same spotlight at some point?

Where does the time go? .... :)

Today, it's exactly 13 years ago that Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik presented his love and fiancée, Mary Donaldson, for all of us.

And in the next month - 14th November - can the Crown Prince couple celebrating their copper wedding.

Several Danish media celebrates the day with lovely galleries, greetings and pictures from the couple's engagement - on the October 8, 2003:

ADDED:
This week's Billedbladet is completely dedicated to the CP couple's US trip with a very contagious frontpage! The magazine also highlights that i's today 13 years since their engagement and that the next month the couple can celebrate their copper wedding:

Indeed it is. :)

I'll deal with the US visit later. Busy weekend!

Don't know how it is in your countries, but here in DK the copper-anniversary, i.e. 12½ years of marriage is usually celebrated with a party for family and friends.
The next big party being the silver anniversary and then the golden anniversary.

A nice little tradition is that there mostly is someone playing at the party and at regular intervals the bridal waltz is played and that's a signal for the happy to stand up and kiss to the general cheer.
And of course the bridal waltz is danced and as tradition dictates while the family slowly close in on the happy couple until they can't move anymore.
Here at a golden anniversary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbrcBbFq05k

Another must, at least at silver and golden anniversaries, is that family and friends gather outside the home of the happy couple and wake them with song and if possible music. The couple appearing and night gowns, pretending they haven't been awake since dawn...
http://vibekestendorf.dk/wp-content/uploads/IMG_6057b.jpg
Then the guests are invited in for morning buns and cake.
http://www.ruths-hotel.dk/typo3temp/pics/a2493d77a7.jpg
A, more or less, homemade portal is inevitably placed over the front door, naming the happy couple and how many years they have been married.
https://www.shop74.dk/images/%C3%86resport-Tolne-Skovpavillon-UD20-p.jpg
http://a.bimg.dk/node-images/445/4/2200x/4445961-.jpg
Some more elaborate than others...
http://www.festen.dk/images/content/upload/imag0805_3e3e.jpg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55VQNTsJvhY

But at copper anniversaries the portal is often only half, as you can see here:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mtzX5SWPXy0/T9r1FB1lcHI/AAAAAAAADK4/mtrQacwI0_8/s1600/juni2012+(184).JPG

It's the same thing at the silver anniversary - perhaps with a little fewer kisses.
But I've rarely been to a silver anniversary where this sung hasn't been played or song: Sølvstænk i dit gyldne hår - Strands of silver in your golden hair.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zapgzYi7iKE

And just as often at golden anniversaries: Tak er kun et fattigt ord - Thanks is but a poor word. - Which is actually a beautiful song about a man expressing his love and gratitude for his wife over a long marriage.

Indeed, thanks is but a poor word to express my delight in this post about Danish nuptial nuances! I shall look forward to the various expressions of the Crown Prince Couple's copper celebrations and wish you all a happy weekend. For us in Canada it is Thanksgiving Monday and I do give thanks for the fun I have with this forum!:flowers:

Thanks Muhler, interesting to read! In Germay, we do have a list naming all wedding day anniversaries and even in-between days (like 12 1/2), but we only really celebrate 25 and 50 (for younger couples, 10 years would be special). So people may know about 12 1/2 years (its called parsley wedding, copper is 7 years) but they do not celebrate it.

I remember well in the generation of my grandparents and maybe parents friends and family coming over and putting up a portal but this is only in more rural areas, not in the cities. I remember my grandmother being horrified since their golden anniversary got some coverage in the local newspaper and she hated the attention.

Thank you Roskilde for the wonderful galleries
And thank you Muhler again for all the information
What a nice anniversary tradition, I like the decoration over the door, half way. :flowers:
