They are strictly speaking not allowed and that's why non-DRF children have their faces blurred.

I’ve never understood the decision making process behind whose faces get blurred vs whose don’t in these sorts of pics, especially with kids. If the picture you’re taking is completely above board than why does anyone’s face need to be blurred? Why is the blurred out kid entitled to more privacy than, say, Josephine? It all seems very random.
|
I'll venture a qualified guess that I'm next to absolutely certain about :
They are blurring the faces of non-DRF children, because taking pictures of children in a public place without the consent of the parents is guaranteed to result in the magazines losing hands down should the parents sue the magazines and photographer for breach of privacy. The parents could also choose to report the magazine and photographer to the police as this is almost certainly a breach of the criminal code as well. - So they blur the faces and now their privacy is "respected".
The magazines will defend themselves with M&F (and their children) being high-profiled public persons and that there is a certain public interest in what they are doing in an otherwise public place.
The magazines are here going to the very edge and probably standing with at least half a foot across the line!
Because that argument has been used before by the magazines when photographing say local DK (adult) celebs on the beach. They lost. - The privacy laws also applies on a public beach.
They are of course calculating on the DRF rarely if ever reacting to such photos.
Let me try and illustrate the law:
If I come walking down a pedestrian street, minding my own business and otherwise not standing out, and you step up to me and take my picture, without asking me for permission first. Then I can demand that you delete that photo on the spot. If you refuse and if you on top of that upload the photo of me on say Instagram. Then I can sue you and I will win!
Because I have not done anything to justify you taking pictures of me.
- If I had covered myself in blue paint, singing: "Dogs have naked ears." Then I must expect people to take my picture, and my lawsuit would be dismissed.
However, if I sit in my front garden, if full view from the street, and you take my picture, then it becomes a criminal offense. You will get a stain on your record and I will get a compensation. Especially if you publish my picture!
- Unless I sit there in my birthday suit or I kick the dog. Then it's justifiable as a documentation for you to hand over to the police. And the police only!
But if you publish the photos of me being indecent in public view (i.e. naked) or kicking the dog, then you commit a crime.
The laws are very strict!
A mother who published a photo of a man who masturbated in front of her underaged child and published that photo as a warning to the public was fined. - It's for the police only to publish photos of people who are suspected of a crime, not a member of the public. Not even when the person in question is in the process of committing a crime!
That may be changed in the future, but that is the level of the privacy laws here in DK.
So yes, I can safely say these photos of M&F are not legal.

Thanks, Eya.
Yes, the island of Samsø is very lovely. I went there often as a child.
Frederik is in these days attending the sailing championships, which takes place in Aarhus Bay, and he seems to be using Dannebrog as a convenient base. (Good practice for the drew as well, before going to the Faeroe Island later this month.)
Considering that Mary and certainly Christian as well have a keen interest in sailing, it's only natural he should have his family around, before the schools begin.
I have made a map, showing where M&F went this summer, as far as it is known. (Big file!)

It looks as if the CP family are having a rather idyllic summer holiday! I'd always thought of going to Denmark more in the winter but it seems like a beautiful summer destination, too.

It's really great that they feel comfortable to vacation in their own country (and just the Grasten holiday but enjoying all kinds of different places).

It's nice they choose to spend so much time vacationing within Denmark, and travelling to different regions as well. Together with last summer's Dannebrog trip, I think it's a conscious decision to introduce the children to more of Denmark and I'm happy for them.

Mary also travelled to Croatia, and the entire family spent 3 weeks in the USA before Graasten, Skagen, Tisvilde, Fredensborg, Samsø and now Aarhus.
Not bad for a holiday!

The pictures are great, thank you all!
And the map is so helpful, mange tak Muhler! I hadn't realised that all the places were so far away from wach other. Great that they were able to see so many different places in Denmark in their holidays!

That indeed sounds like a busy but fun holiday.
I didn't know that their first holiday destination was known. Where did you find that information?

I didn't realise that they'd been to the USA too - Mary and her family have been quite the holidaymakers this summer!

Wow a gorgeous little church. The crown prince family must be wowing residents all over the island. Albeit in a very casual low key way.
Give the islanders something to talk about for many years to come.
What a nice way to spend the summer. To get to know the hidden gems of your own country.

They get to know their own country better but they also provide unofficial free publicity to every area they visit. There are several places in Denmark that are now on my to do list because of the various trips Mary and Frederik have taken over the years, including these casual holiday trips. I hope they continue trying out new places in the years ahead if for no other reason than when I do finally make it to Denmark I’ll have my itinerary all planned thanks to them!

"Friday night, the sailed on unofficial sailing with Dannebrog around Denmark.
The trip has brought the family to Aarhus, Samsø, the South Funen islands and Lolland.
On the first day of the trip, among other things, visited the moesgaard museum and the cloisters museum of art in aarhus, climbed the highest point of the journey, so closer to canals dug by Vikings
Here's the snapshot from the days."

What a great great way to show their children their country and coutrymen, from the big cities down to the smallest islands. Huge respect
They have the best weather. Full sun and 25-32 degrees. I can imagne it must be a lovely cruise, and Dannebrog.. she is beautiful, right?
The photos are all taken by Crown Princess Mary by the way.
Very natural and good, and how lovely aren't the children?

Thank you polyesco.
I love the photo of Vincent and Josephine on the Dannebrog - Josephine's little smile is too cute, she turned around just at the right moment!
I wonder if Frederik is doing some of the sailing since he was in the navy and IIRC also has a personal interest in sailing. I can imagine they have a captain but it would be fun to think that Frederik was sailing himself.
