Frederik, Mary and Family on Summer Holidays: 2005-2008, 2012-2023

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Same here, but I'm sure once the arm is given the time needed to heal and Mary and Frederick feel she's ready, they'll start slowly easing Josephine back into the Stables/Riding Centre.

Poor little Poppet...I hope it was a straight forward fracture and it heals w/no problems. What rotten timing for this to happen though. Right at the start of Summer Vacation. While Josephine will be able to do some of the things they usually do, anything on or in the water is out because of the cast.

Love they signed her sling. Slings can be kept. Casts, not so much due to the smell and I speak from experience there.

Actually they have casts now that can go in water. Great for kids who break an arm during summer vacation time. ?

Really? It's been awhile since my last Orthopedic Surgery where the traditional cast was needed, the other times were walking casts thankfully, so did not know that. Hopefully Josephine has one of those so she doesn't miss out on all the Summer Fun. :)

Whatever the newest most cutting edge tech is Josephine has it no doubt :)

Aw, poor little thing  Looks like she's taking it in stride – like a woman – which is great. What with all the family gathering at Gråsten later this month, I won't be surprised if her cast is overdrawn with messages and little drawings at the photo opportunity :D – perhaps she can even talk QMII into drawing a little something on it.

Yes, I saw this comment and thought it was spot on:

Our Josephine looks so sweet in that picture, maybe even a little proud :) Something to show of in Kindergarten after the summer holidays. Take that brother Vincent :D

Exactly. They're great. My son had one of those because we left for a holiday in Spain one week after he broke his little arm and he could go to the pool everyday without any problems.

A picture of Frederik, Mary, Christian, Vincent og Josephine on bike going for horseback riding the 10th July:

I agree – once the initial shock over the fall had subsided and she had been around the hospital, she must have felt pretty badass getting to wear a cast others can draw on and she can show off to her friends :D I distinctly remember that feeling when I broke my arm when I was around Josephine's age, it was very big :ROFLMAO:

Poor Princess Josephine, but lovely to see her siblings names on her sling.

Wish her a speedy recovery. Such accidents happen but she'll hopefully heal well.

Some lovely pictures we have got so far and seems the weather has been in their favour.

A Danish woman Gitte posted yesterday this picture on Facebook and it has so far recieved more than 18.000 likes. She don't mentiones where it is taken, but it looks like it could be at the Dybbøl Historic Museum which the Crown Prince Family visited last Friday (a perfect plage for a family outing btw) :)

"A big thanks to the Crown Prince for taking the time to have a picture taken with my sister who has Down Syndrome. That moment will she live on for a very long time."

BB last week covered M&F biking with their children on their way to the staples:

And based on that and a couple of questions I've been asked I have a few comments.
The Royal Lifeguard have sentries at Gråsten Manor. - Just as they have outside Kancellihuset when M&F are in residence there.
That's popular with locals! Partly because of the weekly changing of the guards with regiment's music corps present which is a big crowd pleaser. Partly because the guards detachment is predominantly selected from guardsmen who come from that part of the county, so parents, grandparents and girlfriends are of course descending in droves on the manor to see their son, brother, boyfriend (and sometimes daughter) doing sentry duty. :royalguard::photo:

Gråsten Manor is a pretty large estate and the staples are located a few hundred meters down the access road leading to the manor, across a road and to the left.
A riding instructor from the Guards Hussars usually rides shotgun when members of the DRF are out riding. Partly because PET officers are not required to be able to ride horses (they do escort on bicycles instead) but mostly because the riding instructor and his horse has a calming effect on the horses say M&F ride.
Even though Mary has her own horse I doubt she rides it very often and Frederik simply borrow a hussars horse and that means the horses are not used to M&F, so a familiar human (who may very well be riding a dominant horse. Cavalry mounts are not like normal riding horses, they tend to automatically follow a horse ridden by an officer or NCO) reassures them. - So without being able to read the mind of horses, I suspect M&F's horses, when figuring out who is going to ride them, classify M&F as another pair of hussar recruits - and sigh quietly... :p

Frederik looks pretty sweaty to me. Perhaps he was running or cycling?
From Gråsten to the redoubts at Dybbøl and back would be a nice little ride for him.

Probably running behind 4 kids lol
And it looks like he was wearing his maroon color pants that he looks so well in

is that a cow skin in the background? would that be part of the Dybbøl Historic Museum

Hardly. Dybbøl Historic Museum is about the two Schleswigan Wars 1848-1850 and 1864.
So wherever Frederik was perspiring I don't think it was at Dybbøl.

The area consists of remnants of and restored redoubts: http://www.graenseforeningen.dk/sites/default/files/pictures/GF Dybbøl1864 02.jpg
The mill seen here is Dybbøl Mill and it was used as an observation post and as such shot to pieces prior to the Prussian attack in 1864.

A view of the area from the air: http://www.graenseforeningen.dk/sites/default/files/albums/dybboel/Luftfoto_Dybb_l_Banke.jpg

The weeks prior to the storm of the redoubts was genuine trench warfare: http://filmcentralen.dk/files/filmc...-dybboel-grantnedslag.edit_.jpg?itok=mxAkUbQv

:previous:thank you Muhler.
This is why its great to have Danish members on this tread, to get more background info. :flowers::flowers:

Judging by his belt and pants I don't think he was running or cycling. Either way great picture ;)

:previous: You are welcome. :)

Rain perhaps? A sudden shower?

Now we know where Frederik was photographed. In LEGOLAND where he and Mary and the children last Thursday was a private excursion (and thankfully apparently the press didn't noticed it :flowers:)

Article and picture:
http://www.udeoghjemme.dk/skaebner/det-smukke-liv/moedet-med-frederik-brittas-store-dag

-We were in LEGOLAND and we did noticed that the Crown Prince also was in the park with his family. They enjoyed themselves in the same way as everyone else, and we really didn't wanted to disturb them, says Gitte.

-But my sister is sometimes a little more impulsive so she went to greet Frederik.

- And he was just so friendly and nice, says Gitte, who asked for permission to take a picture of the crown prince with Britta. A desire which Frederik smiling said yes.

Britta is very interested in the Crown Prince couple and their family and follows them closely. So it was a great experience for Britta to have spoken with Frederik himself.

And we have the first delightful picture of our Crown Prince family receiving the Gråsten Ring Rider Association today. They all look so lovely and as you can see in the picture Josephine is in top form despite her broken arm :flowers:

So MANY wonderful pictures of the Crown Prince Family! I don't even know where to begin....
Total cuteness overload

Vincent is as brother Christian; such a gentle and mild boy and with such a cheeky, boyish and charming look in his eyes at the same time. Two real boys. Josephine goes so much in older sister Isabella's footsteps and is such a charming little sunshine princess with glorious smiles and facial expressions and dance steps and these two are clearly the two entertainers in the family.

Very charismatic children and it's a fun age they have right now to observe them.

They are such a lovely family and I truly enjoy all the hugs, love and loving embraces. A great little future king family we have us there.

Maybe Josephine is telling the press how it looked when she fell off the horse? :D

Oh well, what you don't do for your younger siblings. Mother and Christian send each other a sympathetic glance

A 38 pic gallery from Jyske Vestkysten with more to be released later: jv.dk - Lokale nyheder - Sønderborg - Se billederne af kronprins-familien i Gråsten

Notice Pic #10. A horse was nervous and Mary put her arms out to protect Vincent, who don't seem to have noticed anything. As the gentle soul he appears to be, he is enjoying the flowers.

There were some 300 riders in the procession, representing various riding clubs and associations and marching bands and each of them brought flowers for the M&F family. - So that amounted to a lot of flowers!
Josephine, who seems to be upstaging her older sister, appears to have appointed herself as the one in the family responsible for accepting the bouquets.
I think Josephine had a field day! People, not least girls, dressed up. And regardless of her mishap, she doesn't seem to be afraid of horses. - Perhaps it had nothing to do with horses at all, but instead the accident just happened near the stables?

Muhler-Tak for the link. BTW is this taking the place of the typical Grasten photoshoot? Lovely photos of the CP family, village, and kids on bikes/ponies yesterday.

Good to see Prince Gustav and Carinna there too!

No, the yearly photoshoot takes place next Saturday, so there will be more to look forward to.

I read an short article in Jyske Vestkysten saying the tourism had gone up big time in the town of Gråsten, due to M&F being there. Many hoping for a very real chance to see M&F in the lanes around the manor. So the locals are pretty pleased in every way.

Yes I noticed that too. She is certainly not scared by horses at all. Fortunately. She on the contrary, hardly can get close enough to them. Great to see. I have always seen her as a little mini-Mary going to spend just as much time riding when she gets older as her mother did. But it is just a feeling.

And then she does not look the least troubled having her arm in plaster. Fortunately. But I remember it with my own son too. Children quickly learn to move with an arm in plaster. One weeks efter my son broke his arm he wanted to climb in trees with his sisters :p

So many lovely summer pictures of the CP family, they look to have a lovely holiday at Gråsten :)
