Well, Mary is not exactly on the cover (main story way) there is a small bit at the bottom of New Idea about Mary and her "Baby Shock". I think my mum is getting that issue of New Idea today :) .

Mum got Womans Day. It has really big colorful pictures from Bornholm. I was indeed shocked as the title suggested in Womans Day that Mary is pregnant with baby no.2.

This week's New Idea and Women's Day. They both say Mary is pregnant with baby no.2, the New Idea's reasoning behind this is that Mary has worn two outfits she wore last year when she was pregnant (althought we didn't know) with Christian, and "she is not known to wear an outfit twice"!!

tinLy, the rough jist of the story was that cracks are starting to appear in Mary & Fred's marriage, and that Mary is homesick and lonely. And it brings up the "Nordic Imelda Marcos" thing on several occasions. They say that Mary is facing the heat about the blowing the budget alone because Fred is constanly away yatching. The closing line of the story is "Mary is yearning for the time when life was a whole lot simpler".
I doubt Mary would want to trade what she has with Fred and her beautiful baby boy for a simpler life!

This thought had crossed my mind, briefly, too but it's probably the usual tabloid story telling rather than fact. As for Mary not being known to wear the same outfit twice; don't these journalists read The Royal Forums!? One look at the 'Mary recycles her clothes' thread would soon prove them wrong.:)

It's the 'silly season' for the media right now or, as we say in Danish, 'cucumber season'. Except, isn't it always the silly season for the hard-core German gossip mags

Are you referring to the last cover posted? What does the cover in post 39 or its article say about Mary?

I'm not German, but as far as I can make it out the headline says 'Luxury scandal' and continues to say that the beloved and picture-pretty dream princess is facing still more criticism for her lifestyle. And asks how long she will be able to cope with it (leisten? withstand it - sorry not sure about this).
It's industrial holidays in Nothern Europe now - the royals are lying low as far as the media are concerned. In a week or two, the most far-fetched stories about them will probably begin to surface in DK as well - anything to make the rags sell!

I think this particular story started in winter or so, in tabloid Extrabladet, and has made it's way around the globe, pretty much - with Mary being compared to Imelda Marcos here and there... It's cucumber season - when you don't have anything new to write - you find something from older sources, or you make it up based on thin so-called evidence.

You're welcome.
Since it is the 'silly season' we should perhaps start a thread about the most stupid and self-invented stories the magazines will present to their readers in the coming weeks!

With New Idea, Woman's day and the German Press more than a spoon of salt is required when reading. Try a bucket load.

I'm sure the tabloids are 99.9% full of crap, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mary is a little homesick and sometimes nostalgic for how carefree she was before moving to Denmark. Royal life, while full of privilege, is very structured and full of protocol and routine. Sometimes it might get a little wearing.
