Crown Princess Mary's Work for Women's Rights (including Women Deliver Conference)
The Court informs that CP Mary becomes the patron of the International Conference 'Women Deliver 2016' to be held in Denmark the 16th-19th May 2016.
The conference gathers the world's leading rights activists and opinion leaders to share ideas and discuss strategies for how the world can ensure a better life for girls and women.
In connection with the accession as a patron of the conference the Crown Princess says:
"Denmark is as Women Deliver forefront of the struggle for a better life for girls and women around the world. Girls and women must be at the heart of sustainable development, and if we give priority to their health, rights and well-being, it will be a gain for everyone. An improvement in girls and women's lives is the basis for creating dynamic and healthy society with economic and sustainable growth. I look forward to working with women Deliver to ensure that girls and women remain in the center of the global development effort. "

Here are a few photos I took one rainy Sunday morning last year of the wonderful Banqueting House that was used for this recent function at which CP Mary spoke.
The ceiling is by Rubens and you can lie back on a bean bag and gaze up at it.
There are also wooden stands with mirrors you can tilt, if you don't want to lie on the floor - but grab a bean bag as the audio guide is engrossing.
This is all that remains of the enormous Palace of Whitehall built by Henry VIII, and you can stand at the window that Charles I had to climb through to his execution.

Great photos. The large brooch looks like it came with the dress as a costume piece of jewelry. And thank you Sun Lion for the lovely photos of the Banqueting Hall.

Is there a tread for Women Deliver? Because if so I can't seem to find it.
Anyway, I'll put this here for the time being.
Summary of article in Billed Bladet #21, 2015.
Written by the incomparable Ulrik Ulriksen.
Mary will host the Women Deliver summit that is to take place 16th May 2016 in Copenhagen.
Mary will host a reception, a gala dinner and most likely a dinner with invited guests at their home at Amalienborg.
Among the high profiled women that are more or less expected to attend are:
Queen Maxima.
Crown Princess Victoria.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
Ban Ki-moon (will he still be UN General Secretary next year?)
Bill and Melinda Gates.
Hillary Clinton.
and not least Malala.
In fact even more prominent names are expected at this summit than at previous summits. About 5.000 attendees are expected.
The current Minister for Development, Mogens Jensen, whose area this really is will probably not attend as there will be a general election here in DK this year. And even though the government does get all the help they can by the leader of the opposition to stay in power..., they are nevertheless most likely to lose the election. So it will be with another minister by her side that Mary will host the whole thing. - A pity. Mogens Jensen is one of the woefully few likable, let alone competent, ministers in the current government.

Next year in May there will be a Women Deliver conference in Europe.
And Mary is patron for that conference.
Kronprinsesse Mary hejser et flag for kvinders rettigheder | Nyheder
However, today, in preparation for that conference some 100 organizations and businesses will meet today to gather inspiration. In that context Mary will today raise the first of seventeen that refer to the UN goals in regards to women.
The flag Mary will raise is for goal #5, Equality.
These flags serve to put focus on the various issues that will be addressed at a meeting in the UN general assemble later this month.
Among the issues are: Sustainable energy, extreme poverty, inequality, climate changes, peace and justice and hunger. The aim is to if not to eradicate then at least seriously trying to do something about before 2030.
