To honour Crown Princess Mary and to mark her 50th birthday the Rigshospitalet's new children's hospital, that will open in 2025, will be named "Mary Elizabeth's Hospital - The realm for children, young people and pregnant women". Crown Princess Mary has recorded a speech of thanks:
** kongehuset video **
Quote:
All parents know how difficult it can be when your child is ill. Especially if the child is so ill that it needs to be treated in a hospital. When children and young people are ill, everyday life and the feeling of security become more important than ever before. Rigshospitalet's future hospital for children, young people, pregnant women and their families, which will open its doors in four years, will therefore be a place that takes new paths to create space for patients 'and families' lives and needs - a place that must be safe and domestically. I am moved and proud that the hospital will bear my name

New stamps of Crown Princess Mary will be released on Greenland.

"On the occasion of HRH Crown Princess Mary fills around on Saturday, Greenland publishes a beautiful stamp - I shot the stamp in August, where I got hand painted a background of skilled @lisetrampedach who paints with lime - the inspiration I took from my own photographs of Greenlandic Icebergs, I in his time, photographed, for the documentary film, Aquarela, in Illulissat."

A hospital with her name, what an honor for Mary. And focusing on children.
Tomorrow's event
"Copenhagen Zoo first came to house Tasmanian marsupials in 2006, when the Tasmanian state donated four of these to Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess. This was the starting shot for a larger Australian facility that today also houses wombats and kangaroos
At a ceremony tomorrow - on the occasion of Her Royal Highness' 50th birthday on Saturday - the Crown Princess will take the first sod for "Mary's Australian Garden", which complements the existing facility with a newly constructed aviary, which will provide more space and well-being for both current and new Australian species such as the laughing bird, the rock kangaroo and the cockatoo. In addition, the plan is to raise the standard for how the Copenhagen Zoo will keep animals in the future and for the guests' animal experience by drawing them even closer to the animals and the daily work of the animal keepers.
Copenhagen Zoo works to promote nature conservation, and actively contributes to the global work to preserve animal species and natural areas. As a patron, the Crown Princess has been inaugurated in Copenhagen Zoo's work and major work with animal management and nature conservation around the globe. Her Royal Highness took over the patronage from Prince Henrik, who was the garden's patron from 1972 until his death. Prince Henrik himself took over the patronage from Frederik 9."

Wow to have a Hospital named after you is jolly special. I think it is great and a deserved honour. And I like the stamp too.

Lovely tributes. Although I think the hospital should've used her title- Crown Princess Mary.

That's a pretty major acknowledgement. The far biggest of the three places that's been named for her in honour of her birthday, I'd say. IIRC the extensive building project has been branded pretty solidly as BørneRiget (which directly translates to "The Children's Realm" – with Riget being Rigshospitalet's nickname) dating all the way back to 2016, so for them to change it now is pretty significant.

That won't continue to be her title though. This way they won't have to change the name of the hospital or use her old title once she's Queen Mary.

I wouldn't be surprised if they change it to Queen Mary Elizabeth Hospital once she becomes Queen. It's quite an honour for her.
CP Mary has truly adopted her new country and you Danes have adopted her as one of your own. What makes it special for us Aussies is that the Danish people have also accepted a lot of her Aussie ways and have never expected her to forget her roots. So thankyou, on behalf of us Aussies

I remember people speculating why Rosenborg was chosen for Mary's gala dinner instead of, say, Fredensborg. I think Mary reveals that herself in the FT article
Quote:
Her favourite spots in Denmark are in nature. "I find the forests very exotic, especially in the spring when the beech trees come into leaf. The North Sea coast reminds me of Tasmania, both when it’s wild and when it’s calm." In Copenhagen, it was always "Rosenborg Castle, with its fairytale renaissance architecture", she says of the 1606 masterpiece that first captured her heart.

Lovely to see Frederik with Mary at the CP Mary Center opening. Again, I had hoped he would. I will say, someone better keep an eye on Frederik for the rest of this week because if he looks any more proud or smiles any wider at these events the man is going to pass out! I also noticed today (and also on Monday at Kolding, that the normal exiting of the vehicle by him on the right side is taking a "back seat" (Pardon the pun)...both Monday and today Mary exited from the right side of the vehicle....Sorry, just something that stuck out to me).

A number of pics, coverage of clips of the event from BT: https://www.bt.dk/royale/live-kronpr...rste-spadestik
Including Tasmanian Devils eating a kangaroo.
In one clip, I've seen, Mary was asked what animal she would most like for audience to see. That's the Kookaburra. In Danish Latterfugl = Laughing Bird.
She would like for the Danes to hear the special call of that bird.
Mary is looking chic.
As you can tell the wind was biting today.
This event has been covered pretty much everywhere.

You're welcome.
Mary of course makes it very easy to embrace her.
- Not a mean feat. Something detractors tend to forget. Coming in as a foreigner and not only being accepted but in Mary's case being admired for being one of the absolute foremost representatives of a country is not something "you just do." It's hard work and a lot of human qualities. One of the main quality being able to read the situation. Fingerspitzengefühl.
And in contrast to when PH arrived DK is considerably less provincial today and it is much more accepted that the DRF princesses bring with them a part of their culture. To an extent that's pretty much the whole idea.
Both Alexandra, Mary and our Marie all made sure they learned the language and became integrated and doing both fast.
I'd say both the DRF as well as the Danish tribe has learned from the mistakes and hiccups in regards to PH. - Who, we must not forget, at times was almost cult for being quirky.

Looks like the twins are ready to adopt the snake. - Oh, mom. Just one tiny little snake...
Vincent looks fired up during this visit. Perhaps a zoologist in the making?
He has shown an attachment for animals previously as we all know.

Thanks for trying. Regardless the kids looked pretty self-assured in responding to what they were asked. They are good in front of the cameras and press.

Video in BT article where you can hear part of their answers and Vincent talking. https://www.bt.dk/royale/kronprinses...-aabning-i-zoo
TV2 on Facebook posted an even better video of the twins answering questions. They are beyond precious.
