Thank you so much for posting the two videos and the photographs. Great to Mary undertaking such a valuable role. I find it quite endearing that she always removes her glove before she begins to shake hands with people.

The Crown Princess has made two video adresses (Danish and English) on the ocasion of the Rare Disease Day 2009 February 28th

Here is the link for the videos:

Mary still sounds to me, very Australian when she speaks english. Her native tongue will dare I sare, never be lost which I think is quite lovely.

That is a sweet picture! Wonder if this little girl gave Mary the flowers when Mary arrived or if Mary let the little girl have them.

"A smiling happy and enthusiastic Crown Princess Mary visited today The Disability Organisations House. Mary spread great joy when she met children with rare diseases and together they saw an exhibition of clown drawings hospitalized children have made in support of hospital clowns.
- I've been looking much forward to seeing all of your drawings, Mary told the children.
The proceeds from the exhibition will go to the Danish Hospital Clowns who every day spreads joy in pediatric wards in hospitals."

All- Wonderful! I almost don't have words here! I cried. That mother summed it up well. CPM is an amazing lady whom Denmark is blessed to have. One thing I noticed and loved is that Mary held the kids without giving a hoot how crumpled her outfit got. May not sound big, but it is.

Summary of article in Billed Bladet #10, 2015.
Written by Marianne Singer.

As patron for Rare Disorders (an amalgamation of 49 associations) Mary visited the town of Høje Taastrup, where Rare Disorders have their office, in order to put focus on the important moral job the hospital clowns do, not least for children who are very ill or who are often committed to hospital.
Having arrived Mary began talking to the children present, who all have an disorder. One of them was four year old Clara, whom Mary too up on her arm, while wearing a red clown's nose. Mary took of her nose: "It's better on you" and put the red nose on the nose of the delighted Clara.
Clara suffers from a rare metabolism disorder.

Before Mary arrived the hospital clown, Ludo, had entertained the children by measuring their hair with a tape-measure. Ludo approached Mary: "Shall I make a speech-bubble for you (informal you)"? Cool idea thought Mary so Ludo blew soap-bubbles and Mary suggested to the children: "Let's try and make them fly higher", so the children ran around and waved the bubble up in the air.
But Mary also got a present to take home to Christian and Isabella, two framed posters. The posters will be sold to help fund Rare Disorders.
Towards the end the press was asked to leave while spoke more privately with the children and their parents.

Queen Letizia is also patron for an organization for rare disorders.

Kronprinsesse Mary støtter løbere med sjældne sygdomme | BILLED-BLADET

The organization Rare Disorders invites on the 28th February to a special jogging in Copenhagen and Aarhus.

Crown Princess Mary is the patron of the organization and encourages everyone to give the organizers a helping hand.

- It's good to be something special. But sometimes it offers challenges not to be like everyone else. Thousands of Danes lives with rare diseases that only few others know about. Therefore, it can be hard to find someone you can share challenges and experiences with, says Crown Princess Mary in connection with the two rare joggins in Copenhagen and Aarhus.

- Rare diseases are usually inherited and thus the patients are often children. This gives rise to much uncertainty and worry for the entire family. But just because they are so few the rare families shall not be overlooked. They need attention, expertise and a helping hand. I hope that Rare-run can help to create new relationships across diagnoses and life situations, says the Crown Princess, who unfortunately can't be present at the special run for children and adults in Copenhagen and Aarhus.
*
Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik will be away on a official trip from the 28th February when the Rare joggings will find place.

ADDED:

You can say it's a shame that the official visit find place at the same time at these joggins. Because otherwise I'm more than convinced we would had seen Mary in jogging clothes having participated in the running races herself - and that would has been a nice and great event :flowers:
