Mary opened a clothes store "Montre" at the Fashion Fair. It seems like she received some baby clothes as well.

CP Mary does NOT look to be in her 7th month of pregnancy! Wow, I hope I look like that in my 7 months. She is so small.

Why are all so offended by CP Marys interest for fasion her in Denmark ???
The fasion is one of her patronage as CP her in Denmark.
I just don´t get it.
When Princess Diana was alive she had also her interest for the fasion in GB and the rest of the world, so why are CP Mary not "allowed" by you to have the same kinde of intedest as Diana had ??

Granted, she is involved in more than just fashion organizations, but things like this are the ones we seem to hear and see the most about. I don't know if it's because she really does spend most of her time going to fashion events, or if the press cover them more because of the glamour.

I couldn't have said it better. Especially as I was noticing earlier that Frederik's been sailing this past week... and people don't seem to be huffing about him doing that.
Mary has plenty of so-called worthy patronages, most of which I've seen pictures of her from during the past year, but somehow the fashion patronages (of which there are only two...) seems to be the ones to stick to people's mind. Maybe because there are a lot of photographers there already?

i don't know who is the stylist of mary but he/she certainly does a great job: her make up is always so perfect.
i think the skirt made her legs "shorten" and make her look small: http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums...hmentid=178402 not the best choice.
she should find another clothes stylist and pay a little bit more because of good work to the make up one... :)

Crown Princess Mary's involvement in fashion is a part of her job as an official representative of Denmark. She has chosen to take an interest in the fashion industry, and by doing so she will help the whole Danish fabric and fashion industry to promote itself internationally, and to give them a higher profile and some spotlight also within the country.
Part of what the Royal Families are about today, is to promote the “brand” of their country and with it its industries and trade abroad. And Crown Princess Mary have chosen to support the fashion industry, which suits her well since it’s obviously one of her interests.
I think that as long as she and Fredrik supports other good causes too, and works hard, then it’s just fine that one of her areas is fashion since it’s then a part of the job.
But it’s a pity that the press covers her fashion visits to the wide extent that they do, and doesn’t have nearly as much coverage of her more low key visits.

Mary is patron for the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair and the Designers Nest award(Saturday). The Fashion Fair is only held in two extended weekends. TWICE a year. Mary usually attends the opening and visits some of the shows during the days. Last time was back in February. In between Mary has been at two fashion shows, which I am aware of. Both where fashion design schools where the students showed their leaving examinations and one of them Mary was just invited along by Princess Benedicte who was protector for one of the schools. That’s about it.
Fashion is just more visual and much more in focus and there are about 200 journalists accredited from all over the world to cover the Fashion Fair. That gives a lot more pictures and coverage. Also on Mary.
On Saturday she attends a fashion show “Fashion with meaning/sence”(Mode med mening) arranged to raise money to The Danish Refugee Council, which Mary patron for.
Unless one is a bit narrow-minded, it shouldn’t be too hard to separate two extended weekends form the rest of the year. As long as Mary is patron for CIFF, she will most likely also visit the CIFF twice a year in the future. You better get used to it.

I think it's interesting -- it is a spark for the industry. Most of the time, in fashion (like everything else) people only see the end result -- they never focus on the jobs that are produced and all the many other things that happen behind the scenes because of the attention given.
I think she is doing well. And if she should be a patron of anything, it should be for something she has a deep interest at the moment; she has plenty of time to take on other things later, if that is what she wants to do -- when she becomes queen, she will have even more pressure and even less choice ... :)

Some questions could be asked:
«Does Mary have interests other than fashion - I mean a deep interest, a real one, not just for the time of the picture, something she would love to roll her sleeves for and get somme work done?»
«Does Mary have the abilities to do such a thing?»

You might be right - not about the narrow-minded thing but about her visiting the CIFF twice a year. Unfortunately the press coverage gives the impression that she is always posing of some sort so it's easy to assume she always at some fashion pow wow. She also gives the impression that on a beach she would more likely bring tons of fashion magazines than a real book without images (chose your favorite author, even JK Rowling).

Diana was not that happy that the 1st and sometimes only thing that people would notice was what she was wearing not the causes she was working for. Diana worked hard to change that impression.

I think as time goes on she may become more closely linked with some social cause like her heart foundation work, or something.
As for her interest in fashion:
- she's patron. Patronages and looking nice at their events are part of her job. This is also a patronage with strong business links, fashion is big business no matter how frivolous you may consider it
- I like that she's personally interested in fashion and looking elegant - it's the reason I come to this website to look at pictures of her!

I am reading you and there is a thing that I do not understand. If Mary wants to support the mode of her country, because she does not dress clothes of Danish designers? This way many major advertising would give them that coming to parades. Instead of comprarase Prada's garments probably she should search between the designers of her country. It looks like to me a contradiction to support the Danish mode and then to choose international designers.

I will have to disagree with that. Mary does indeed wear quite a lot of Danish designer clothes, especially Julie Fagerholt (Heartmade), Malene Birger (Mary named her as one of her favorites in the Vogue interview), Day Birger and Mikkelsen.
In the beginning she did wear lots of Prada and Hugo Boss but recently she has worn Danish designers in Australia, her day-to-day work in Denmark and on holidays this past month.
IMO, I thinking she is definitely representing the designers of her own country. In between, if she feel comfortable in Prada or any other non-Danish brand, then I for one, have no problem with that.

Hi pdas1201
Very well said! I completely agree with you ! Well done ! :p
Attending danish fashion fair is a part of Mary's job and Mary is definitely doing a terrific job in promoting the long-term interest of danish fashion industry which is the 4th biggest industry in Denmark.
As a Crown Pricess of Denmark, Mary has done an excellent job ! :p I am soooooo proud of Mary's hard work and her dedication to her role.
Mary, YOU ROCK ! YOU GO GIRL ! :) KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK ! :)
Mary, PLEASE SIMPLY IGNORE THOSE SILLY, IGNORANT AND MEAN CRITICISM on YOU !

That is good if now she has worn alot Danish designer, that what she should do as Denmark CP. Mary has to do be careful in choosing her "thing" because she is not an ordinary citizen. She also has to listen what people said, not ignoring all critisize but learn about it to get better step..then she will be a lovely princess for her people. She still can wears design from non Danish designer but may be she has to limmite wearing it in public engagement:) .

Huh? Its that time of year again when the Danish fashion industry show their wares, and as protector, Mary was always going to be part of it. The thing is that unlike, say, visit to the hospital or something, this fashion thing goes on for a couple of days - I think that's why it seems like she's doing "more" of these types of things.
However I think the fashion exhibition will finish soon, and if you have a look at her calendar, she's doing HEAPS of non-fashion stuff after it. http://kongehuset.dk/aktuelt/kalender/
For some reason as well, I think Mary's engagements are much more relaxed than others, and I think this affects our thinking on just how many she attends. I mean, she just shows up in a pretty skirt and top, and doesn't go all out formal, so I think subconsciously we think she's just out having fun etc. Which I'm sure she is, but she's also working :)
