Interesting. I didn't expect them to wear the traditional costumes again (or at least not until the last day). It didn't seem to be warm enough for the girls yesterday.

Thanks for the links Muhler. They looked like they were having a great time dancing.
This is an interesting summer for the children. So many good memories for them.

Thanks, Roskilde.

This is a serious warm look in Mary's eyes, wonder who she is looking at...
Tarlita, if you are into scenery I think you will have something to look forward to tomorrow!
Carina, I think we will see the children wear the national costumes all three days, because they are presents from the local municipalities and they would no doubt like to see how their presents look on the children. Apart from that the islanders are very proud of their costumes. - We may not see the children Sunday though IMO.

Frederik's suit may be warmer, but in that rain I bet he envied Mary her cape!
And it looks like Bella was answering a question, probably from the press, because that's a pretty proud mother who is looking at her.

A video report from Klaksvik today by BB: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...sne-i-klaksvik
It confirms my suspicion that Josephine is a sucker for bouquets! I have noticed she look with some longing at the bouquets her mother was holding, look how her face lighten up, when she is presented with one!
The adults with the medals the family is greeting, took part in the Royal Run earlier this year.

What do the people of the Faroe Islands think of Fred and Mary wearing traditional costumes?
From the pictures, it appears CP family are the only ones wearing it. Do the people consider it respectful to wear traditional clothes?

Well, they're definitely not the only ones wearing it. I'm not Faroese but I know for a fact that the Faroese people are very proud of their national costumes so unless the people in question are in favour of separation from Denmark, I'd imagine they're very proud of seeing their royal family in the country's national costumes.

What's the name of that song?
I know it, I've even song... eeh... hummed it for my own children.
Looks like I was wrong, Isabella was not answering a question. Mother was still pleased though.

Judging by photos and videos, there were many people wearing them.
The outfits are gifts from the Faroe Islands. I doubt they would have been given if they had not intended them to be worn.

I just meant the everyday person doesn’t walk around in these costumes. So I was wondering what people thought of it. If it was meant as a sign of respect or do people think it looks silly or outdated.
In one picture, there’s a women wearing skinny jeans taking a photo of Mary in traditional costume.

A photo of them surrounded by people wearing the traditional costumes:

Of course I guess they don't go to the supermarket or play soccer in these clothes. But this is not an 'everyday' occasion. This is a royal visit, and a good occasion to dress up.

Just as the national costumes in Greenland the Faeroese seem very proud of their heritage, and as such also the traditional costumes, which they seem to wear at every possible occasion in both countries.
The DRF have traditionally worn these costumes partly as a sign of respect and partly because they are presented with pride to be worn at festive occasions.
Also, the costumes presented to the DRF are supposed to be worn and that is considered a natural thing to do, after all Greenland and the Faeroe Islands are a part of the realm.
They may of course be some who see it as silly or old fashioned, but I doubt they express that opinion too loudly!
And of course a number of Greenlanders and Faeroese simply can't afford such a costume, even though some (certainly the silver items) are handed down.
Are you perhaps also thinking about "cultural appropriation"? (Which in my opinion is a monumentally silly concept! Almost all fashion and clothing through the ages have been "cultural appropriation".)
It won't be seen as such, after all the Faeroese suits are pretty much identical to the traditional suits worn all over Scandinavia, albeit basically only by folk-dancer in DK though.
The exception is of course Greenland, who have their own outfits But considering the very close affiliation between Greenland and the DRF, I think they would be deeply offended if the DRF did not wear their outfits.

I see the first day they all use the traditional shoes but the second day, Mary and the girls used boots with no heels. I guess the shoes were unconfurtable?
But I love that they went with the costume second day too

I must confess I don't wear high heels that often myself, so I may be wrong...
I imagine walking shoes is more practical on wet sidewalks, grass and indeed gangways. While high heels may be better suited for gala dinners and dancing chanin dance.

A comparison could be made to how Swedish and Norwegian royals often wear Sami costumes when visiting Sami institutions and localities. Although historically both countries relationship to the Sami have been a colonial one (like that between Denmark and Greenland) today most Sami seem to appreciate the royals making an effort to wear their traditional costumes. This despite that there are still tensions between the Sami and the two Scandinavian countries.

I (and others) guess it is Princess Josephine who takes the picture or she simply felt like returning to Dannebrog to a warm cup cacao.

For me its very nice seeing the CP family in the traditional outfits, especially since they were gifts by the Faeroe Islands (and a little bit expensive). I think it would have been rude to accept the gifts and then put the outfits away in a box. They look lovely and I noticed a lot of people wearing them for this special visit.
Gallery from the second day from the DRF, the landscape is stunning!
