Adorable pictures, did I read somewhere that this was a five week cruise or was that a typo?
I guess Frederick was allowed to choose his ensemble shall we say?

No typo. The cruise lasts five weeks for Dannebrog, she has to sail to Greenland and back but eight days for M&F, they fly.
Our man in Greenland, the venerable Ulrik Ulriksen, has delivered his first video report from Greenland: VIDEO: Prins Christian og prinsesse Isabella er vilde med Grønland | Billed Bladet
(Prepare yourselves for some beautiful scenery).
As I thought the press has been accomodated onboard the escorting patrol frigate Triton.
Ulrik Ulriksen reports that after M&F went onboard Danneborg, the children were observed playing on the deck with their nannies, while Mary went for a jog in the nearby (low) mountains.
The first leg on the official visit should take place as this is written.

Thanks for sharing the photos so far. And another thanks to Muhler for the heads up about Billed Bladet and Instagram, I'll be sure to follow them so I can keep up with the visit. The children all seemed quite excited to be on the Dannebrog. Since Vincent and Josephine were babies the last time they boarded it, I doubt they'll remember much of it, so it's a new experience for them which makes it all the more exciting.
I didn't know much about Greenland beforehand, so looked it up on Wikipedia, and it sounds like a very interesting place. I'd love to go there one day - some of the scenery is beautiful indeed.

Thanks, Polyesco
The children are playing on the ruins of Viking settlements.
Greenland was virtually empty until around the year 1000, where the present day Greenlanders migrated down from the north, having trekked from Siberia across Canada in a little less than a 1.000 years.
At the same time the first Nordic settlers formed colonies in the south of Greenland.
The climate was milder back then, hence the name Greenland. (The story about Erik the Red lying about the conditions on Greenland and making them better than they really were, is a myth. He would have lost his head on the spot had he sold the settlers a tale!)
However, the climate deteriorated and the Greenlanders got closer and apparantly the contacts made were hostile. Whatever, within a couple of hundred years the Nordic settlements had been either abandoned or wiped out.
Apart from the occasional trader, whaler and explorer the Scandinavians, under Danish rule only returned in earnest in the 1700's.
It wasn't just Scandinavians who were replaced by Greenlanders, a few original Inuit bands were wiped out or assimilated as well.

This must have been taken from the frigate Triton.

Is Bella comforting her sister? Or is it just a loving embrace?

I can well believe things can get pretty lively onboard Dannebrog!

Nice pic, eh?
ADDED: A nice gallery from Royalista of M&F arriving yesterday: http://royalista.com/26535/mary-fred...nland/?lang=en
Frederik is not being discurteous towards his wife by taking the lead up the phalarope and leaving wife and children trailing behind.
As the highest ranking present he will always be the first to go onboard Dannebrog and the last to enter the boat when leaving Dannebrog.
As the highest ranking he is also the one who is piped onboard and as such he has to recieve the salute.
Had Mary been alone, she would have been piped onboard and been the first to board Dannebrog and the last to enter the boat.

It was a nice touch by the hamlets hetman to welcome Mary as "daughter-in-law".
In return he got a pad on the shoulder by Frederik, for "providing good weather".
The children no doubt needed to burn off some energy, so as soon as they saw the opportunity they went out to jump in the what-do-you-call-it jump-castle.
Frederik has been to this hamlet before and he admits he might have found the service in the local church a wee bit long too, but there was no jump-castle back then though.

what a nice touch, Mary in Greenland is their daughter-in-law and Frederik in Australia is their "son-in-law"
beautiful photo

I will say the kids were eager to burn off some energy and of course a bouncy house is the place to do so

You are in for a little treat later on tonight.
TV2 news at 19.00 had a segment with the family visiting the first hamlet. - And the children were pretty lively!
The twins were completely undisturbed about being in focus. They started by picking flowers for mother. That is when Josephine wasn't darting off. It seems like a photographer had to call for her and ask her to perhaps better go back to mother. So big-sis Bella took over and while passing the Tv camera she let out a mischievious "Hi".
Okay, then it was time for the photoshoot. Not that easy to arrange, mind you! Vincint was busy singing and he really ddn't have time to sit down and pose, so he began to walk away while Mary tried to get hold of Josephine.
A pretty delighted Frederik gave a brief interview saying that his children seems to have embraced Greenland.
The population of the hamlet is 25, so the number of people present must have tripled that day.
I expect the clip to be online in a couple of hours. And I'm sure our vigilant newsdiggers will post it here as soon as it is.

Here is a nice group photo: http://sermitsiaq.ag/sites/default/f...?itok=nD0fJADO
Imagine you getting up in the morning at 04.30, looking out the window, on a beautiful summers day, with the sun high on the sky.
Taking in the view.
The air being so fresh, clear and crisp that you simply can't help filling your lungs.
You look at the grey-green mountains and the dark grey sea with blocks of ice floating around.
The cool wind blowing away your sleepyness, the insects being busy over the low vegetation. They are busy, very busy, because the summer is short and winter is coming.
Then you start to hear: the cries of the seagulls, the barks and growls and fightings among the almost ferrell sledge dogs.
Every scent you smell is clear, unfiltered by pollution. Every sound you hear is clear, unfiltered by the noise of traffic. Every color you see is crystal clear, unfiltered in the clear air.
You look at the ice in the fjord, the endlessly changing pattern of ice as the blocks change position in the sea.
Later on in the day, as the temperature go up a little more you may hear the faint sound like thunder of a faraway glacier calving yet another iceberg.
- Then you go inside and turn on your B&O Tv-set in your living room to watch the morning news...
When Alexandra many years ago first visited Greenland, she looked at the wooden houses in the hamlets and thought people were poor - until she went inside one house and saw a 28'' B&O (analogue) TV-set in the small living room.

The TV2 clip I described earlier, hope you can watch it: Kronprinsparret i Grønland: En udfordring med fire børn | GO'
When Vincent is being seated by Mary for the group photo he is heard asking: "Whyyy, mother".
And during the shoot, Vincent starts to wander off, only to be reined in by Mary, who explains that right now they must smile, so Vincent patiently sings: "Smiiile".
