I thought Frederik wasnt returning to any official engagements until the 24th September. At least I thought I read that somewhere.

Perhaps he is just easing back into work with a few engagements rather than just seeing him "back at work" one day. For all that, he looks happy and rested and I am sure if he didn't look pain-free the whole time the media would have voiced concern.

Well, that was wrong  The person writing that hadn't checked the official calendar. He is regent for about a week and has two official events this week, unless more is added.
