After his visit to the GEOCenter yesterday, Frederik awarded two scholarships from the Crown Prince Frederik Fund
"The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to students in the social sciences for one year study at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Boston, USA. Crown Prince Frederik Fund is a gift that the Crown Prince received from Danish-Americans in a 25th birthday present during the Crown Prince's studies at Harvard University."

A little bit more information has been given by the DRF website on Frederik's trip to San Francisco, California
DenmarkBridge CEO-summit | Kongehuset
"The DenmarkBridge CEO Summit takes place in San Francisco, USA, and during the days there will be presentations, debates and networking meetings. The DenmarkBridge CEO Summit will provide participants with insights into various business models in Silicon Valley as well as the opportunity to build and strengthen the network in DenmarkBridge. The Crown Prince is the protector of DenmarkBridge, which aims to provide Danish companies and entrepreneurs with better access to knowledge, networks and capital in Silicon Valley, California."
Hopefully they give a photo or two.

It's pretty frustrating that this is basically unknown to most people in DK. Apart from business orientated papers like Jyllands Posten, this isn't mentioned anywhere. Certainly not on the news.
This is Frederik doing the serious, heavy stuff so many have criticized him for not doing. - Nothing. But have him attend a run somewhere and it makes the headlines!

very much agree. It's pretty frustrating. He attends alot of events that for some reason do not get included in the calendar. For example, while searching on facebook I found this event dealing with DenmarkBridge in December
https://www.facebook.com/s.r.andreas...53935497010163
https://www.instagram.com/p/BN-J3pPh...=denmarkbridge
Besides the CEO sumiit he handed out a Dannebrog order.
"Having H.K.H. Crown Prince's residence in San Francisco, the Crown Prince on behalf of h.m. the queen the knights cross in Copenhagen to the Danish musician Lars Ulrich.
The two can be seen here in connection with a dinner that took place during denmarkbridge CEO-Summit."

Not writing about his work seems to be a choice the Danish press has made, or what? They have access to the official calendar and if they wanted to, they could do research and write about the more serious stuff.
They don't seem to want to. The only time he gets into the press is when he on his own time does a triathlon, a bike race or skis 'Vasaloppet'.
The Danish court doesn't exactly help. When F&M are on an official visit with a big amount of Danish companies and a couple of ministers, the court chooses to post a couple of short videos of the dinners and receptions and ignore the real work.
They could post more photos and info of the boring stuff which is what they are there for, but no.
I will not get started on the many events that he has, which are not even added to the calendar or never get up on social media.

I can only agree. I wrote this a week ago after Marys working visit in France:
Quote:
As usual I'm not impressed of the DRF's social media.
From this trip they have posted 3 blurred pictures on Facebook of Mary holding the opening speech. Well okay, but what about the rest of the trip's many events?
I have to admit, I unfortunately think that the DRF on social media runs exactly the same tactics as all the other less serious media - they highlight the fun things and make a lot out of them (the Queen's summer cruise, birthday, Frederik and Mary visiting children etc.) while the less fun royal work stands in the shadow. IMO, it was precisely the DRF's own platforms who should inform us about all the boring, but important work the royals also does. Like our Crown Princess on a busy visit to France during the economic summit. Unfortunately, they just highlight the fun moments that all other media also highlight...
|
At least the DRF's courts has posted lot of pictures from Frederik's visit so far. (Much better of their booooring covering of Mary's visit in France) But it is still pictures of him doing a run, posing with Lars Ulricksen etc. Nothing of his more serious meetings. The covering are better than their booring covering from Mary's events, though. I don't get it. F&M are doing a HUGE work and the court could spread it so much better... but they don't.

I think you nailed it. The keyword is: research.
Journalist these days don't do research if they can avoid it. They simply don't have the time - and I dare say, often don't have the expertise either.
So if it isn't served on a plate for them, they opt for the easy stuff: Photos of the royals doing something simply, like running - and write about what they are wearing.
Daily Mail is a typical example of that trend. Very little substance, instead the articles is one long caption to the photos.
And I agree. The court simply have to do the job for them and that means writing in depth what it is they are doing and why.

Thanks, Polyesco.
It's an entire team from Jægerkorpset (army special forces) who is being honored. Suggesting it's based on a mission in which they distinguished themselves.
My guess off hand would be northern Mali - against the Islamists there.
Jægerkorpset is currently operating in Mali, Iraq and Afghanistan. As well as supplying protection for diplomats, visiting dignitaries to bases abroad and members of the DRF in more unsafe countries.
I also notice a couple from the Frogman Corps and a couple of anonymous gentlemen from PET.

Interesting that two PET agents get this. Would they be operating in areas where special forces do?
Maybe there's been an "incident" that we don't know of during one of the DRF visits...
I wonder if the younger one is ex-military, judging by the way he is standing.

He is almost certainly ex-military.
Aktionsstyrken, is the Danish equivalent to Swat - only on a national basis and with an intelligence-gathering asset as well.
Depending on their role, they don't necessarily belong to PET on a day to day basis, even though Aktionsstyrken is under PET. Some of the police officers, as I understand it mainly those who so to speak "kick in the doors" are regular police officers who when not called upon perform regular police duty in their usual precincts. However with the current gang-war and the continuous terror threat being a member of Aktionsstyrken is today an almost full-time occupation.
However, Aktionsstyrken also provide protection for visiting dignitaries and also diplomats stationed in less dangerous countries. (In low risk countries it's mainly the local police. - In high risk countries it's mainly the heavier armed and as such less discrete agents from FET who provide security.)
But PET also do more covert operations like contacting potential terrorists, high-risk criminals who are involved with drugs or sale of arms and similar things and also handle infiltration of gangs and so on, or placing bugs at terror suspects.
- I can imagine they thwarted a terrorist attack on a diplomat or a prevented a kidnapping or prevented a terrorist from detonating a bomb, perhaps during an arrest. Something the public is unlikely to hear about for perhaps decades.
PET is among the most closed intelligence organizations in Europe, which from time to time has lead to criticism, but with the terror-threat there is no political will to make the organization more transparent.
FET is even worse! They would preferably deny their own existence and then inquire as to why you would like to know about something that doesn't exist.
Apart from a detachment providing high-risk-area bodyguards this organization mainly deals with SIGINT - signals-intelligence. I.e. listening, monitoring, surveillance, hacking and counter-hacking and so on. In that respect it's equivalent to the US NSA.
