Oh, it's very much a buzz-word.
Still no need not to earn money on it, and get in the forefront.
Eco sell!
Whether it's eco-eggs, eco-milk or environmentally sound modes of transportation.

That's what the consumers want, that's the future.

We also live in a global market-economy and the nice guys don't live long in that world.
So if one of the world's largest logistics companies wants to go eco while maintaining their position, they are going to elbow their competitors in the face while doing it.

- Is it fair? No.

Your post has inspired me, to buy some of the "Eco" Cider at IKEA 2 hours ago:"Ekologisk Cider Päron" - delicious!

But I have still, after a few cans, the opinion, that the Prince should chose a sub-thematic in the wide field of ecologism. Perhaps marine-life? He was a (military) diver after all. Otherwise, with this (all should be more eco), what he said, he sounds a bit like Marie Antoinette in Petit Trianon and her "Let them eat cake!"...

Plus: I am capitalistic enough, to prefer, that the market picks the winner and not the state or a Royal.

Article on Frederik's speech today. As we know the Queen a few months ago gave her opinion on climate change . I would say Frederik's is more in tune in this issue with the Danish govt and Danes themselves.

Thanks for the update! And "yes", Frederik is more in tune with the "Zeitgeist".

I have no problem at all with organic food, quite the opposite. But this: we live on One World and all humanity must unite as one against man made global warming - this is politics!...

And as a royal watcher I know, that political thematics have a boom and bust cycle... And Royals either have real political power or better avoid to get dragged into day-to-day politics.

Frederik is almost word for word advocating what the government's supporting parties are saying right now. That recovering after Corona ought (must) to be based on a green approach.

The government and the opposition is a little hesitant though, because right now they believe focus should be on recovering economically regardless. A green approach, although desirable, does no longer have top priority.

Thank you Polyesco.

The vote in the article at TV2.dk or EB.dk shows that a large majority 75-80% agree with the Crown Prince (and thus) disagree with the Queen.

About climate changes being man-made.

There are many from the Queen's generation who do not take the climate seriously - they will not live on earth for so many years longer, so why care?

Fortunately, we younger people think differently.

The DRF lives in many old large castles, but the Crown Prince couple has worked for several years to make their palace more climate friendly, and we learned in an interview that Crown Princess Mary is working on phasing out all plastic bottles from Frederik d. 8's palace.

But you know, this is not something the press is to happy to write about. It does not sell as good as negative articles.

Thanks, Polyesco. :flowers:

Even though Frederik is very much committed to the environment, he is also very much encouraged to be so.
Because green solutions is big business. As in seriously big business for the Danish export!

In fact despite the current US administrations trade barriers and wish to equalize the trade with USA, the Danish export to USA has gone markedly up.
Not least in fields like green energy and environmentally sound solution. - Because such solutions are very often implemented on state level, and quite a number of US states are going green.
Another major export is medication.

So to put it cynically: If the current US President wins, the export will continue to rise.
If Biden wins, the export will likely rise even more.

It's basically about how to produce as nourishing and as healthy food as possible, with the least possible environmental impact.

And Danish export...;)

https://foodnationdenmark.com/news/...r-opens-in-aarhus-to-strengthen-food-exports/

"Denmark is a leading food nation on an international scale and delegations from near and far have long visited us. Since the opening of Food Nation Visitor Centre in Copenhagen in 2018, more than 2,317 people from more than 29 countries, has explored how Danish solutions and products from the entire value chain contribute to counter the global challenges of the future."

”The work to contribute to promoting Danish food companies to potential and existing partners from all over the world is strengthened with the establishment of the Food Nation Visitor Centre. We are pleased that companies and organisations have the opportunity to increase the collaboration across nations”, says Kasper Glyngø, Chairman of Business Region Aarhus and Mayor of Hedensted Municipality.

:previous: The church were Frederik & Mary got married and where it all began ❤️

It is a very beautiful church!

And the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir’s voices are... just wonderful.
I can remember both Frederik & Mary were touched to tears when the boys sang to Prince Christian’s christening in 2005. I good guess is they will sing to Christian’s confirmation.

"Last year the 200th anniversary of the discovery of electromagnetism was marked with the nationwide celebration HCØ2020, for which His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was patron. ⁣

⁣ In the video, the Crown Prince talks about the HCØ2020 celebration, which due to the situation regarding COVID-19 was different than planned."

Thank you, both of you. :flowers:

Yes, this is indeed a topic Frederik is very committed to - and for which he hardly gets any mentioning outside the business and investment papers - alas.

It is the ambitious aim that Denmark must reduce its CO2 emission drastically by 2030. - I must admit I don't quite see how that is possible with the policy carried out by the current and last government.
But there is of course another side to the coin: Money.

It is Denmark's aim to remain a world leader in how to practically plan, implement, finance and build on reducing CO2 and create greener solutions. It is already a major export sector, and a sector that is expected to grow much further!
Both China and now also USA are interested in such solutions and are beginning to invest massively in the environment. But they need know-how and technical solutions on a local level - and here DK comes in.

Right now the government is proposing a plan for massive investments in the infrastructure here in DK. Mainly rail and high ways. That doesn't sound very environmentally friendly and it isn't - in the short term. But you have to earn money in order to invest in environmentally friendly solution and here the infrastructure is key.
It's not enough to create jobs and make it easy for businesses to be set up, just as important is it to move good and employees fast and efficiently. Without that you will have difficulty attracting the right people and attracting businesses especially production businesses.
The Biden administration in USA appears to have reached the same conclusion and is proposing to invest massively (and IMO long overdue) in the US infrastructure - while at the same time investing in environmentally friendly solutions. - These two things go hand in hand.
