"Queen Margrethe expressed great satisfaction from the lecture chair in the opening ceremony of how well the exhibition has affected her own perception of the Crown Prince, and from the ballroom she sent a personal message to him. "We've all been able to keep track of how active you are, how you found yourself, and we are looking forward to it," said Queen Margrethe. "

I think children are the best art-critics there is.
Judging from the facial expressions Vincent seemed to like it right away, and studied it interested. (Perhaps a future art-lover, it's very much in the genes!) While Josephine who looked very feminine today, (I don't know if you say feminine about a girl her age, but you know what I mean) was less sure, or is not that much into art.

Not sure I like the way Frederik's face is depicted, a closer view is needed, but I think the artist nailed the theme. Frederik having signed something official if off duty walking towards his family. - With Josephine all over the place, reined in by big-sis, Christian being more cool and in control, and Vincent indeed being very fond of his mother.
I see QMII is there as well.
I can't see how the artist has shown where Frederik is "confined by his role" though.

I had the opportunity to get a closer look at Frederik's face in the news tonight.
It's not that off I think. To me he leaves the impression of a man with a burden, a responsibility.

Lovely family! Does anyone has HQ pictures or bigger pictures?

Love the painting! Such fine details with Mary and their children and QMII :)

I haven’t gotten a great look at the portrait yet but from what I can see I like it. To me it looks like he did a fantastic job portraying the children, while something seems slightly off with both Mary and Frederik. But it’s hard to tell when you’re looking at it on a phone.

MLovely that bring and the chldren!!

About painting, i like that including and the family but i tell the truth if i don't know that is Frederik i don't recognise him!

The painting was a hit with his children for sure!

Men shouldn't be wearing turtlenecks. In fact it should be a punishable offense.

No doubt devised by a malicious and intoxicated super-feminist, determined to eradicate any trace of masculinity from this world. :voodoo:

He gets :nonono::nonono::nonono: from me.

Alas, again, like the issue upon Nikolai´s hair, we come not together here...!:whistling:
What is "feminine" about turtle neck....?!:ermm::bang:
Frederik looks great in it and the photo looks striking!!!

Summary based on a number of articles in Billed Bladet #21, 2018.

70.000 runners had signed up and there were around 300.000 spectators on the streets during the Royal Run, which amounts to around 7 % of the population.

At the final 10 km run in Copenhagen, the children went out on the square to cheer the elite runners, who ran first, and when the rest ran past, their mother had joined the, offering high-fives to passing runners.
Frederik also ran past his family, but he didn't notice them, because QMII was standing on the balcony in the opposite direction. Frederik waved with both hands to mother and perhaps she noticed him.

In all the cities there were various runs for various groups of people from elite runners to people who for various reasons preferred to walk. In all the cities there were family runs, which involved even the smallest children, some being carried, others being pushed in prams, most ran or walked themselves.
The culmination in each city was the 10 km run.
While dad was away in Aalborg for the first run, Mary took her children out for such a family run and all four completed in fine form and time. Christian soon took off, followed by Isabella, while the twins stayed back with mother, but towards the end Vincent also darted ahead for the last couple of hundred meters.
Both Josephine and Isabella wore their gold bracelets, that all girls born into the DRF wear.
Christian completed the one mile run in 7:35. Isabella in 8:30. And mother in the twins in 10:31.

In the meantime Frederik toured Aalborg, Aarhus, Esbjerg and Odense. In each city there were a couple of speeches, a birthday song (of varying quality!) and in return Frederik gave five improvised speeches, and that's when he is at his best in regards to speeches.
In each of the cities Frederik joined a one mile run with different themes. In Aalborg it was children. In Aarhus it was students. In Esbjerg it was the military, including veterans. In Odense it was professional athletes.
Despite having had to abstain from running for the past six weeks, due to a bad back, Frederik was in fine form. Although he needed treatment in Odense.

And it was in Odense Mary joined him. Here she was to run 10 km, which she finished in a respectable 53 minutes. But she admitted afterwards that she had been running harder than her fitness level really justified. So her legs probably hurt too the next day.
In the meantime Frederik went on to Copenhagen for the climax, the 10 km run, which he finished in a little less than an hour.
It was a very delighted Frederik who ended a successful day having run 16. 44 km, despite a bad back.

Wartenberg7, it is now the second time in two days you are scolding me publicly. I trust this is not going to become a habit!
You are beginning to ruin my mood!

You are free to begin writing summaries to the various links, in that way I won't annoy you!
You can start with this article which is about how Frederik is as a father: https://www.bt.dk/royale/dronningen...lgt-frederik-hele-livet-saadan-er-han-som-far

I've been thinking of maybe going to Copenhagen on Saturday to see the cortege on its way from Amalienborg to Christiansborg. Do you remember what the procedure have been at previous gala dinners - is the courtyard with the Queen's Gate open to the public or totally closed off? If open do they leave their cars in the courtyard or can they drive inside the Queen's Gate?

The day is saved! We can sleep soundly tonight. Daily Mail has the story: Danish royals unveil portrait of Crown Prince Frederik | Daily Mail Online

Love it:flowers:
The portrait is well done indeed. The uniform and family in the mirror my favorite parts.

I like the painting. Queen Margrethe II looks fantastic, too. She seems to be doing well. God Bless the Danish royal family.

The man in that painting bears no resemblance to Frederick. Whoever it is, however, is quite dashing.

Tomorrow is the big day!

It all starts with the family, and QMII, appearing on the balcony of Frederik VIII's Mansion, i.e. M&F's home. - That'll confuse a few no doubt. ?
I think it's the first time the family will appear on that balcony.
That happens at noon.

There will be live TV from that. Probably from several papers and BB as well, so stand by for links.

In the early evening, M&F will ride in a carriage from Amalienborg through the streets of Copenhagen to Christiansborg for the big show. Depending on the weather it's no doubt going to be an open carriage.
I do not think we will see the children. It's going to be a long dinner at Christiansborg and even though there is entertainment, it's not particularly child-friendly.
Instead we will see the children on Sunday for the show in Frederik's honor, but more on that Sunday.

There will be a live coverage of the carriage-ride and also of the guests arriving at Christiansborg.
Someone is bound to post the links tomorrow, so don't worry.

The weather: We currently have the warmest, sunniest and driest May since 1889, but tomorrow of all days there may be the occasional shower in Copenhagen. Let's hope it remains dry around noon and 18.00 tomorrow.

There will also be live coverage of the gala at Christiansborg tomorrow, from 20.00-22.30 - only interrupted when the guests are eating.
So plenty of time to comment on dresses and jewellery in-between.

Am I correct in summarzing that members of all the royal houses in Europe, except GB, Spain and Monaco, are attending the celebrations?

My my, what a May we are having. Usually, we have to do just with Monaco GP and perhaps some state visit or other, however this May, we are truly blessed :flowers:

It seems so. Here is the list from BB: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelige/danmark/frederik-50-aar-kongelige-kvinder-kommer-til-gallafest
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima.
King Phillipe and Queen Mathilde.
King Carl-Gustav and Queen Silvia.
Hereditary Grand Duke Giullaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie.
Haakon and Mette-Marit.
Victoria and Daniel.
No mentioning of the Greeks, but I'd be surprised if they don't show up in force.

It is a pity that the Earl and Countess of Wessex are not attending since they seem to have a personal relationship with Frederik and Mary.

The situation in Spain, which was already bad, is getting worse now with the Rajoy government involved in a major campaign finance scandal and likely to fall in the next weeks on a motion of censure. King Felipe VI seems to be personally close to Frederik too, but I don't think it would be appropriate for him to leave the country to attend a glittering birthday gala given the circumstances. There may be also scheduling conflicts (maybe the Spanish editors can comment on that).

That's a pity. I'd have loved to see queen Letizia chatting away in a friendly manner with princess Marie Chantal.:lol::lol:

So, has it been confirmed by the Danish Royal Palace of the foreign royals attendances? According to the British Royal Engagements, the Wessexes got nothing on this weekend plus we can see from WA’s birthday last year that the attendances weren’t mentioned but the Wessexes were there indeed.
