Crown Prince Frederik's 50th Birthday Celebrations: May 2018

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Frederik has finished in 57:00. :flowers:

And the legs looked a bit heavy here towards the end.

------------------

He is already being interviewed, without being out of breath. The last 5 km were a bit hard.
He thank all the volunteers and all behind the scenes.

No sign of Mary, presumably she's not back in Copenhagen yet.

--------------------------

That's it.

I'll leave the floor to our newsdiggers. ?

CP Mary and the children are at Amalienborg and give high fives to the remaining runners :D

Looks like so much fun, would definitely have joined if I lived in Denmark!

Did any other member of the family join? Frederik's brother, nephews and cousins?

Only Frederik, Mary and their children were out running today from DRF :)

Truly fantastic for the Queen to cheer everyone on

I wonder why. Perhaps it is so that the focus will be on the Crown Prince and his family, the central characters to the Danish monarchy's future?

I dont think I ever heard of Joachim running ;) lol.

The Crown Prince thanks all volunteers
"I would also like to say before we completely round off thanks to the volunteers - both in Copenhagen, but especially in the rest of the country. Thousands thank you for your support, for your mood and today, the atmosphere has just been extremely good," said Crown Prince Frederik after his last race.

This race, and including all of Denmark, was a huge success.
This image sums it up, no matter their abilities all were invited to run with the Crown Prince. Just an excellent idea for his birthday

Yes, sorry I forgot to elaborate. The focus was on Frederik, Mary and their children- Royal Run was an initiative from Frederik to the Danes, to help celebrate his birthday with the people. If Joachim's family were running too, the focus would be on a lot more members of the family, than as you said; "the central characters to the Danish monarchy"

Thanks to Muhler for an comprehensive and interesting coverage! :flowers:

And thanks to polyesco for all the photos! ??

--------------------

TV2 sent live from 08:10 to 20:40, not bad. - But really irritating that I didn't had the time to watch more than about 10% of it.

This was the Crown Prince's day, his birthday week.
I really don't think Joachim and his family participating somewhere would have made any difference. The focus would have been on the Crown Prince anyway.

Besides, Joachim=running...?? :ermm: ;)

Maybe Joachim doesn't like running, yes ;) today was for Crown Prince Frederik- his week. Sure it would've been fantastic to see Marie etc running, but I loved that we were surprised by Mary, Christian, Isabella, Vincent & Josephine for the 1mile run :), and then later got the scene with Frederik waving to Margrethe on the balcony. Just amazing to see :)

Fred & Mary are sports fanatics, I think the other members of the extended RF aren't. They'll have other centers of interest - would be great to know what those are, now I come to think of it! ?

Now for something completely different.

DR1 will tonight show the first part of two documentary about Frederik's life and personal development to where he is today.

You should be able to watch this outside DK.
https://www.dr.dk/tv/live/dr1

The programme will start in 2 hours 15 min from this is posted.

The second part will be shown Wednesday.

I watched the first part this morning (unfortunately it wasn't really available from Germany, so please don't tell anyone:whistling:).
I really enjoyed watching it. I didn't learn something really new, but there were lots of really sweet pictures and the story was told well. I m looking forward to part 2.
A little tip for all non Danish speakers: You can switch on the Danish subtitles and if you have installed a translate Add on on your browser it will also translate the subtitles. At least my Google (?) Add on does so. It' s not enough to understand every detail, but at least you get an idea about the broader subjects...

Yes, exactly, Fred & Mary are sports fanatics. Joachim loves racing/vintage cars so he enjoys that interest as much as Fred enjoys sports/running :)

thank you so much for your reporting today, especially Muhler and polyesco!:flowers::flowers::flowers:
I'm really looking forward to checking all your links in a quite hour:)

I just want to say again how delightful it was to see the CP share his birthday with all of Denmark in this way. Truly amazing. Congrats to all of the organizers and the CP on this event. And just as a side, I know how hard it is to run, then stop and then try and run again, so my hats off to the CP for running 4, 1 mile races and then a 10k. His time was decent for sure (although his wife's was better). Congrats to Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine to their race today! And the Queen cheering them on from her balcony was the icing on the cake.

Right, I have seen the first part of the DR1 portrait of Frederik's life.
The first part follow Frederik until right before he meets Mary.

It's a very fair, correct and most frank portrait!
Frederik sure had his problems when he was young, certainly in regards to the public, and that is covered very well. And also how he slowly began to recover.

For those who know about Frederik's life it doesn't really matters whether you understand what is being said. But you can enjoy a lot of archive footage, and some family footage as well.

I actually prefer the TV2 coverage, because there was so much contemporary footage of Frederik and his family behind the scenes and in private and that was interesting to study.

The link will be uploaded at some point and if Iolanthe's brilliant tip works, you can watch it with English subtitles. ?

So I won't go more into this documentary, that is very well covered in the portrait book anyway.

-------------------

As for Joachim and sports.
Well, I can say with 99% certainty that to Joachim the only purpose of feet is to operate a speeder, a clutch and a break. - He has happily admitted that he is not into physical activity. :D
However, driving a car in a race and do it as well as Joachim is, is physically very hard! There is a reason why race drivers tend to be strong.

Frederik's message ""My running shoes have been around Denmark's five largest cities today. Thank you for a touching and fantastic day.
My desire to bring together the Danes to a running feast is fulfilled. In all cities I have met happy people who have challenged themselves and achieved personal victories. Thank you very much"

I have seen so many happy people who have had something out of the day - whether they have run short or long. It has been wonderful to experience, "said the Crown Prince after reaching a destination in Frederiksberg

What a day!

It's such a healthy and positive way to celebrate a birthday with people around the country (not that I mind the glittering galas, but it's not the same). I hope the Danish people are proud of their Crown Prince and family today.

Brilliant Muhler, mange tak! Despite all the distractions from England, it was lovely to see how CP Frederik embraced the country by running with it. i do wonder about those who cannot run; was there a para royal run? In any case, thank you to all for the wonderful coverage:flowers:

Oh yes, there were several categories in each city. - Children, family, the slow, elderly and out of shape, elite who ran or walked at different times.
In one of the runs I noticed a young obese woman who literally wobbled her way towards the finishing line. And I think that's great! She ran as best as she could and while some might snicker, I think she was a true inspiration. - If you are to change your lifestyle, you are to start somewhere.

Who’s brilliant idea was this I wonder?

Frederik mentioned several times that the idea came about at a meeting ten months ago.

I saw her too, and she was amazing! Made me happy :) It truly was a wonderful day and a great way to connect the country with our wonderful Frederik and his family in the forefront. So proud!

Yesterday - Frederiks' Royal Run - was a HUGE HUGE BIG success! ? What a party with the people. In all cities. Live-TV from morning to late night. Records all the way.

Yesterday, 'Royal Run' was the eighth largest race in the world, the largest 10 km. run in Denmark ever and more than 25% of participants were runners who had never run before.

That Frederik, Mary and all four children so happily, actively and naturally participated in everything all day was amazing. This day goes on in history! For sure! And are maybe Frederiks (and Mary and children) greateast success

The social media of the DRF swims over with indicative and thanks-from-the-heart-comments - it must be so touching and overwhelming for Frederik, and also Mary.
Frederik must have been so happy whem he went to bed last night.
I have never seen such praising comments, and in that amount, before on the DRF's social media.

___________

Now for a very positive article from (even) Ekstrabladet, tell us exactly what it is Frederik with Mary and children can do:

"Surprised tourists: - Is it really the royal family?
What's better than saying that you have run with the Crown Prince? It should just be that you also have given high five with the Crown Princess and the couple's four children along the streets AND have waved to the Queen on the balcony"

Very nice pictures in the article:

From official schedule:

The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg will attend the celebrations at Christiansborg Palace on the occasion of the 50th birthday of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark on 26th May 2018.

50e anniversaire du Prince Héritier de Danemark - Cour Grand-Ducale de Luxembourg - Mai 2018
Well, this means that guest list to the gala dinner at Christiansborg so far includes: CP Haakon and CP MM from Norway, KCG, Q Silvia, CP Victoria and P Daniel from Sweden, and GD Henri and GD MT from Luxembourg, not bad.

Really frustrating that I will be in the UK on May 26th, especially since I had planned to see most of it on DR1 from Norway.
