Mette-Marit often appears as if she wants to contest for the title of "Miss Scandinavia 1935". If she was German, it would be outright mortifying but with a Norwegian lady it is at least no problem of being politcally incorrect.

Ferdnand at the glittering board ( Glittering Royal Events Message Board: Re: CP Frederik's Dinner - correction) says that the name was changed upon the death of prince Ferdinando, Carlos' father.
I had never heard about them until I saw them on TV at F&M's wedding - it is very probable that they are friends of Prince Henrik - some of his hunting buddies perhaps?

Well i don't think this was a Royal event!!!! There were plenty of people there that weren't Royals, that was a birthday party, that was a party with young people and of course that happens that the birthday "kid" is a Royal, but to me that was a party and a very normal and unstressful event with a dress code!

I hope Frederik had a wonderful birthday and many more to come because in my mind he is the man of the hour. It is his day and birthday week afterall.

You are so right Glittering Tiaras!!
It was Frederik birthday yet everybody thinks that everyone else deserved the praise??
Yur right he is the man of the hour it was his birthday, and deserved that smile upon his face!!
As for Daniel Westling...yes okay he's at a royal event with Victoria okay yep thats something to discuss but we can't jump staright to the conclusion of a royal wedding soon.
Frederiks deserves the praise for his birhtday not Daniel....who needs to be talked about at a different time.
This is a topic regarding the Crown Prince's 40th Birthday is it not??
Yes there may have been a previous party, books and photogrpahs but this is the mans 40th birthday...you only tune 40 once and i presume he wants to remember it!!
He's the crown prince of denmark why shouldn't he have two birthdays..Our Queen celebrates her birthday twice just because she finds June a better month for parties??
Bit long winded!

I would agree that she looks a little 'peaked'. It does look like she is looking into the sun though and this shows up every flaw.

Well, though the birthday boy certainly deserves all the attention, we (watchers of the Swedish RF) can not be blamed for being a bit over exited about Daniels appearance. IMO it can only mean we have an engagement soon. So please have a bit of mercy on us and consider the long years we had to wait, wait and wait...and wait even more, while all the other CP's were getting one child after another... it was pure torture . Anyway, for those interested in the Swedish highlight of the evening, please go to this thread in the Swedish forum, where the relationship can be discussed at length (as we have been doing for almost 7 loooong years).
---
Amber Petty discussed the whole birthday on her radio programme btw, I could have done without the juicy details (Mary air guitaring for example), considering these are royals and not a Hollywood get-together. Can't believe such indiscretions are met very favourably and at most courts it would probably mean that that was the last time such a person was invited :(.

First of all, congratulations to Prince Frederik for his great party!
I loved Mary's and Tatiana's dresses!
What I found fantastic on Mary's appearance is how the color of her dress matchs her skin so well!
Tatiana is such a pretty lady that everything on her would look great. Her same dress on another royal wouldn't look so pretty, IMO....
I was sad for Mathilde not being present, her outits are always among my favorits!
About Daniel's presence: well that's good for Victoria, but for me it doesn't matter at all. I only care for them when they become Royals or Royals-to-be!

Mary looked stunning! I hadn't seen her wear such a dress before. Any other greek family members besides Nikolas?

Mary definately has style and knows how far she can go before turning into a public embarrasment.

I find it rather sad to notice that the series of unfavorable comments about the former Princess of Wales which tend to dominate the subject-related forums need to spread into other threads, resulting here in a comparison between the actions of two Princesses which took place more than twenty years apart.
Whether or not CP Mary’s song for her husband was a delight to hear or not depends on the quality of her voice, I’d say…
There was also a ‘roast’ of the birthday boy, so who knows, her song could have been humorous too, not necessarily romantic.

In that case I do hope she will never invite that Amber Petty again, since she blabbered all about the party on the Australian radio. Including Mary's air guitaring and Frederik's friends doing a Take That impersonation. Talking about embarrasement... (the blabbering friend that is, not the air guitaring in private).

I didn't know Amber was still Mary's friend, because I know she told something to the press regarding Mary's life so I though they were no longer friends..Were is she?Can someone show me a picture because I don't know who she is! Caroline Heering is also very lovely! In danish Royal watchers it has been said that Mary's dress was from a local desinger but I have read here that her dress was from a British designer Mathew..

The radioclip of SAFM radio here, select the show of June 2nd and wait for 5.30 minutes. (Courtesy ATR)
A picture of Amber Petty at the party here, the picture 2nd row from the top and on the left. Not a very flattering picture. There are pictures of some other guests on that link too, some of which do their best to copy Paris Hiltons style of clothing... I agree however that Caroline Heering looks very nice, as usual I might add.

I am almost shocked to see Rose Gad, the ballet dancer, like this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...i/31MayBT6.jpg She is usually elegant and classy. Perhaps she was doing a stage stunt during the celebrations - that might account for the outfit

In DRW, the part about the local designer is about Amber's dress for the party not Mary's.
Amber Petty is the one in the red gown (photo above the orangery pictures).
