Christmas is coming up, the books about the DRF are being published.

For those who know a lot about Frederik IX this is a "can read."
The most interesting bit, at least to me, are the many interesting snapshots.

BTW the three gentlemen with Frederik are the authors.

Iceland has been a pioneer in sustainable energy. Mainly from hot water springs. There are quite a lot of them in Iceland! Certainly enough to all the heating the country needs.

"HRH the Crown Prince will participate on 14 October 2021 in the presentation of the overall route for the Tour de France 2022, which will begin in Denmark next year. In the French capital, the Crown Prince will also lead a Danish business delegation of companies working with health, cycling and sustainability.
Together with Minister of Trade and Industry Simon Kollerup and mayors from the five Danish finish and start cities, the Crown Prince will be present in Paris when race director Christian Prudhomme unveils the overall route for the Tour de France 2022, of which the first three stages will take place in Denmark on 1 .-3. July 2022 under the title "Grand Départ Copenhagen Denmark".

The presentation focuses on Denmark and the special Danish cycling culture that is known throughout the world. After the route presentation, the Crown Prince's visit to Paris will continue at the Danish House on the Champs-Élysées, where Danish Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, VisitDenmark and Food Nation will host a business promotion focusing on bicycle infrastructure in Copenhagen and Danish gastronomy."

Nice pics! And nice to see him sailing. Here is an interview to Tom Slingsby, the tactician on Nanoq. He's Australian and he mentions that there are several Aussies on the Nanoq crew!

Nice way to inaugurate the the new building! I will say some of the photos and clips in the video are shall we say...uhm...interesting...and I am tbh a little confused (lol)....but...other than that, he looks great!

Yes, it's a... voluptuous... way to open a place. ?
Perhaps it'll catch on?

A little stroll back to the 70's where nudity in the day to day scenery wasn't that big a deal - nor being viewed with as much hypocrisy as today.

"voluptuous" - that's a good way to put it. :whistling: I am wondering what that has to do with architecture (LOL!)...but maybe it means a glittery new building or something. Frederik goes home and Mary asks..how was your day dear? LOL.

Also, when I saw photos of the library I thought it was still under construction!! It is more minimal that IKEA furniture!

Perhaps because she is well-build? :D
Yeah, yeah, you have to admit that one was irresistible.

Indeed. Keep it simple but highly functional and you have defined the essence of Scandinavian design - and architecture.

BTW we have a few problems getting Ikea-stuff here in DK these days, not due to lack of drivers, but because there isn't enough cardboard to back the furnitures safely.
The costs of importing stuff into DK has gone up, and there are often delays. But exporting stuff from DK outside EU is no problem.
The reason is lack of containers in China, - well, Asia as a whole. That's where the stuff that is imported to DK is produced, but during the lockdowns people ordered lots of things from abroad, and that meant containership after containership sailing out of China in particular. But as there were lockdowns in Europe and USA, the main destinations, it has taken time to off load these containers at their destinations.
So that means that fewer containers have been shipped back to China.
And in China the store are filled to the brim with wares that are to be shipped out, but there are currently not enough containers to put the wares in.

So baisically every container the company I work for send to China, is almost welcomed by brass bands at the harbors.

Wow...well, we are having delays getting things here in the US. They keep talking about the back up at Long Beach Port especially. I am in the process of having an order filled at my grocery store and the shelves are empty for many items. I am being told it is that they have not received stock in and are low on merch! Amazon seems to be getting me my items on time for the most part! Maybe I should try placing my grocery order to China! LOL. Maybe they will have my croissants and cereal!!

I do like the look of that new library tbh. I mean do these students really need ornate carvings, etc to study? But it did take me a second to realize that that was the intended design of the library.

Added: The naked woman apparently is a live installation titled "Hyperoganism". A soprano, Anne Mette Pødenphant, came out on sitting on a platform naked with like strobe lights timed to her singing. It is supposed to a sensual experience of primordial power. It was created by Alex Mørch. Anne proceeded to crush stones of clay into some vessel which produced steam. Every once in a while she played the cello.
Seems there was a pomegranate involved at some point. Well....that seems uhm...interesting!

Wearing the full dress uniform of a major general of the army.
We usually see him wearing the navy uniform.

Eml

Glad to see him looking much cheerier in the last three posts than he was at the opening of Parliament. They all looked rather glum.

He is so good when dealing with young ones.

For his second event today, he inaugurated the LIFE Foundation's new learning center LIFE Campus.

LIFE is a Danish non-profit educational initiative within the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). LIFE Campus will both have state-of-the-art laboratories, equivalent to the facilities ‘real-life’ researchers work with in companies. Teachers from LIFE will lead the laboratory work in collaboration with the school teachers.

The regiment has now turned 363 years. The Royal Lifeguard Regiment is by no means the oldest Danish regiment, several are around 50 years old.
The concept of having standing regular regiments came about early in the 1600's in DK. Prior to that the king had housecarls and nobles were responsible for raising local regiments.
But the threat to Denmark, especially from Sweden, was by now such that permanent regiments had to be raised.

The Royal Lifeguard Regiment was formed to become the monarch's personal regiment, directly responsible for protecting the royal family - and if need be, a loyal unit for putting down an uprising in Copenhagen if need be. Just in case...

Of immediate interest to me, is what role this staff officer plays in this parade:
https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=bc02ae7b84f6860fc006b473c174b655&oe=6184856C
https://scontent-lax3-2.xx.fbcdn.ne...=22b3c3052671c5038ff9ddbba60fc17b&oe=61875D85
And why he and his two staff members, have such a prominent place.
I can't make out the unit markings, but the uniforms and insignias points clearly towards an Anglo-Saxon country. I.e. Britain, Canada, New Zealand or Australia.

I believe a regiment from Britain (the Royal Regiment of the Princess of Wales) took part in today's events.

Always thankful for the extra info. In the gallery it states,
"The Royal Lifeguard's English sister regiment, the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, attended with some selected representatives."

You are both right. :flowers:
I got a PM from another member, who kindly told me that the foreign soldiers are indeed from the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, for whom QMII is honorary colonel.

BB reports that Frederik during his speech at the LIFE Campus, mentioned his father-in-law. And said that he would absolutely love this place. Because when he taught as a mathematics professor, he very much used applied teaching. That could be illustrating his lessons with golf balls, or whatever is handy. - So Donaldson would find this campus that is based on applied teaching most useful.

He mentions it from the rostrum in this video.
