(and not that many weeks before my (now) husband proposed as that will be 15 years ago next week).

Actually it was announced two weeks before 08.10.2003 that the Queen would give her official consent to the marriage on 08.10.2003.

The audience has just been covered by the 12.00 news.

The total visit to the Vatican State lasted 1½ hour. First the audience with the Pope in his office.
The accompanying Danish ministers were also introduced, after which they were shooed out. So that M&F could have a talk with the Pontif alone.
They exchanged presents. M&F presented the Pope with a Royal Copenhagen vase, with their monogram and a book about the renovation of their mansion.
The Pope returned the favor with a piece of art made from copper and four books, with each their theme.

After the audience M&F went over to have a talk with the Pope's State Secretary. (Equivalent to PM?)

Now there is only one last item on their agenda, before returning home.

--------------------

A DR1 video from the audience today with a giganormous text explaining to the blind no doubt, what is pretty evident from the clip:

ADDED: Fortunately TV2's coverage is better:

The audience with the pope was fantastic, both Frederik and Mary very correct, nice gifts too!

a video from yesterday's food event, where Mary and Frederik received chefs coats with their names on it, they both seem to enjoy it very much

The Crown Prince takes part in a visit focused on Urban & Cleantech. His Royal Highness will visit the Trevi Fountain and the aqueduct Acqua Vergine. They went underground too

How nice that they met the Pope. I wonder if they invited him to visit Denmark. I know Lutheran is the state church, but is there a Roman Catholic presence in Denmark? It looks like Mary is wearing the brooch that Prince Henrik gave her, which is a nice touch.

Yes, there is a small Catholic minority in DK, as well as a Catholic church in the largest towns and cities. There are even two or three cloisters, each with a handful of nuns.
One is located not far from where we live, but you wouldn't know it, if you weren't told. They always wear civilian when outside the cloister.

I doubt QMII would have extended an invitation to the Pope.
There was a visit quite a few years ago, but that was mainly directed at the handful of cloisters and churches in Scandinavia and Catholic minority.
Yet, even that was enough to have some of the more fundamental Lutheran priests to almost wear garlic around their necks!

I'm sure Prince Henrik's sister ,Sr Catherine de Monpezat was pleased with the visit to the Vatican, the audience looked relaxed as per normal with Pope Francis.

In several cases we have an estimate and for our king and queen we even know the exact date: January 19, 2001 (and place: on the pond of Huis ten Bosch).

Their official program ended yesterday afternoon.
Frederik & Mary have none official events before Monday next week in Denmark.
I wouldn't be surprised if the couple stays in Rome over the weekend. A few days in Rome, just the two of them.
Rome is undoubtedly special to them

Frederik told Berlingske yesterday that Rome has a very special place in his and the Crown Princess's heart:

- "It is a pleasure to visit Rome, which represents past and present so beautifully,
Personally, Rome also represents the past and present for me, because it was here I asked my wife if she would marry me."

It have been a wonderful visit in Italy, and I have enjoyed following it.
Thanks for all the good links, pictures and information from all of you

I don't understand what they say at the end of the video. But it seems to be about The meeting with the Pope.

Mary looks absolutely fantastic. They are the powerful couple!
