Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary's Visit to France: October 7-9, 2019

The Crown Prince Couple on business promotion to France
Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess will on 7th-8th. October 2019 lead the way when a major Danish business delegation conducts business promotion in Paris. The thrust is carried out under the heading "Denmark and France - together for a better life and a sustainable future".

During the campaign, the Crown Prince Couple will participate in the opening of a business conference, seminars and visits to major French companies and hospitals. Their Royal Highnesses will also be hosts at an official dinner with among other guests from Danish and French companies and organizations.

The purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations between Denmark and France and support Danish companies' growth and position in the French market.

France is the world's sixth largest economy. Denmark and France have very close relationships and extensive cooperation in a number of areas within politics, culture, trade and investment.

France is an important trading partner for Denmark, and in 2018 the country was the eighth largest export market for Danish goods and services.

The business promotion also aims to focus on health, sustainability (especially energy and cities) and Danish lifestyles and include Danish companies with special competences within elder care, life science and "smart hospitals", energy efficiency and renewable energy, sustainable cities and Danish lifestyle.

The aim of the business promotion is to create a platform for concrete future collaborations that will develop and adapt sustainable and innovative solutions to common challenges. The program includes, among other things, the holding of seminars on wind energy investments, urban development, achievement of the World Goals (SDG), health and company visits to some of France's largest companies, and to hospitals and infrastructure projects that match Danish competencies.

Joachim and Marie will join for the dinner on Oct. 8
https://www.dr.dk/nyheder/indland/me...macron-i-paris

"On October 7, Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary arrive for a three-day visit to the French capital. The invitation to the French visit came from President Emmanuel Macron himself when he was last year on a state visit to Denmark with his wife, Brigitte.
During the visit, the Crown Prince couple will both meet with Macron and attend a large-scale dinner at Paris' town hall on October 8, together with Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, who moved to Paris this summer ."

Thanks, Iceflower.

Apart from heading a trade delegation of some 60 companies., this is very much about the solid foothole Danish architects have in Paris afetr many years of work.
The French in general and the Parisians seems to have developed an taste for architecture for buildings and monuments of national and cultural importance.
Frederik is giving his speech in La Grande Arche, which was designed by a Danish architect 30 years ago. But now Danish architects have returned in force.
The reason for that is not least due to President Macron, who has a considerable interest in the Scandinavian welfare models and models in regards to the labor-market. That interest has also spilled over to architecture.

In contrast to DK, where upkeep and building of cultural monuments and buildings is usually far from being a priority, that is very much a priority in France! Where as a matter of course cultural monuments and buildings are renovated at considerable expense even during recessions.
There appears to be a different national pride and outlook on the cultural heritage of France - and that is now benefiting Danish architect firms.
And that is of course the primary reason from M&F going there. That's where in particular the French focus and coverage lies. The other Danish companies follow in the wake of all that.

Interesting to see Frederik with glasses.
And Mary looked most elegant - chic.

A lecturer/associate professor in French, praise Frederik and his speech to high heaven!
He says among other things that Frederik's French is near perfect, that someone from France might very well believe he's from Canada.
That he speaks a solid day-to-day French.
His speech was good, because Frederik made it personal.

- I will leave it to our French-speaking members to judge whether that assessment is correct.

It has been noticed that Mary was fairly lightly dressed vis a vis the weather. It is apparently not that warm in Paris today. So reporters believe Mary must have felt a bit chilly.

Thanks, Lumuqueen.

I had seen a reference to this interview elsewhere.
M&F are asked into the fact that Mary has been approved as Rigsforstander.
Frederik express delight that the number of Rigsforstandere (plural) have been increased. While said she was honored over the appreciation and trust in her that this appointment means.

Thanks, Polyesco.

This the second speech of the day by Frederik, started out in French then he switched to English. My guess is that is was for the benefit of the Danish representatives.
French is no longer commonly taught in high schools here in DK and haven't really been taught that much since the late 60's I believe. Other languages have taken over.

Nothing new and surprising here. In addition to having a French father, spending countless summer at Chateau de Cayx, having french relatives, the Queen being perfectly fluent in French, both Frederick, and Joachim attended the Ecole des Roches, 27130 Verneuil sur Avre in Normandy as boarders in the school years 1982 1983. I attended the same boarding school from 1987 to 1989 where i passed my Baccalauréat. Two of my best friends (One of them from iceland) lived in the same house they lived in (I think it was La Colline). In the spring of 1989 Joachim was on his way to Deauville, and stopped at the school (nostalgia maybe). After having met the headmaster, He asked if our mutual friend from Iceland was still there and if he could see him. We were getting out of class, so i got introduced and the 3 of us had a small chat, before we said by and he went on to Deauville. Back then, i barely spoke english his french was fluent, your typical BCBG (Bon Chic, Bon Genre) Auteuil Neuilly Passy Style.

Some of you, I won't mention names, nor Polyesco, will no doubt be delighted to learn that Frederik received a standing ovation after his speech last night.

- Personally I am very happy for him. We all know how difficult it has been, and presumably still is, for Frederik to give speeches of give a statement. Such a genuine YES-moment is just what he needs.

It's also been most interesting to read the "natives" review of Frederik's French. Thanks.

A blah-blah article about Mary recycling her dress today, but the photos might be of interest:
https://www.bt.dk/royale/kronprinses...t-et-statement

A couple of BB videos of Mary today: https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...gn-med-et-smil
https://www.billedbladet.dk/kongelig...jehjem-i-paris
Here Mary is talking to a 95 year old man at a retirement home.

- Retirement homes and activity centers for elder citizens have turned out to have become an export for DK. - So far mainly to Japan, Korea and China - and now perhaps also France.

Notice how the... eh... gentle... - How the man receiving Mary when she leaves the car, makes sure HE remains under the umbrella.

ADDED: And the daily Daily Mail fix:
