Yes it is and more so in certain parts. I mean Sault Ste Marie got *snow* last night!! That's not supposed to be happening *now*!!
I hope Sophie packed something nice and warm for her trip to James Bay tomorrow, otherwise...
Sigh..Two Royal Visits happening at the same time at places close to me and....Grrrr!!

VIDEO: Kronprins Frederik nævnte kronprinsesse Mary i tale | Billed Bladet
Frederik gave a speech at the official lunch at Rideau Hall.
In his speech he weaved in a personal comment when he said his recent visit to Canada with Mary was the setting for a very special day.
- "This is the second time the Crown Princess and I have visited Canada together. The first time was with the Danish sports men and women during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in 2010 - between us, it was our four-year anniversary to attend the Olympic Games together. It's very important," Frederik with a smile said.
Part of the speech was also fluent in French.

Mary looked stunning today. I adore the coat and the headpiece. She's so beautiful.

Beautiful pictures and scenery! Is there a way you can see the Getty Images without the watermarks?

Canada is a very large country so that the weather varies from region to region. The Crown Prince couple can expect cool autumn weather around 15-18 degrees with some rain in Toronto.

At our National War Memorial, where Frederick and Mary are placing their wreath, that granite rectangle looking piece it's in front of is Canada's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The National War Memorial is directly behind it.
I've visited the site in 2006 and...It's in the middle of one the busiest intersections of Ottawa. I mean, look right and you see the Chateau Laurier, look left and there's our Parliament Buildings, then behind and to the right is The National Centre for the Performing Arts. It should be noisy and chaotic, but the instant you go up the stairs on to the Memorial proper...It is eerie. Everything becomes hushed and *very* quiet. It's like it's surrounded by a cone of silence. It was was truly eerie, but not in a scary way. Very like when entering a church.
It was also one of the most moving experiences I've ever had. I hope Fredrick and Mary were able to sense that too earlier today.

Frelinghighness, I believe they are staying at the Chateau Laurier, but I am not 100% sure. It is one of our most beautiful hotels and certainly has a history of hosting royalty, presidents, etc. I think the trade delegation that is accompanying the couple is staying there, and Mary had a meeting there this afternoon relating to sun cancer, so that's why I am guessing they are staying there.
I skipped out of work at morning break and trekked a few blocks to see Fred and Mary lay a wreath at the National War Memorial.
It was fun as I was surrounded by Australians here on a bus tour, who were delighted to see that "their" Mary was also in town.
The royal couple are such wonderful representatives of Denmark. They were elegant, respectful (it was a memorial service, after all), but they also managed to display a lot of friendliness and warmth to those of us who were there to see them.
Here are a few photos I took at the memorial earlier today.

Thank you very much Squidgy for sharing your experience with us Always so nice to hear from people who have been there. It's the great on this forum, because there are people from all over the world.
And I like that the Australians are proud of 'their' Mary no matter where in the world she is.
Thank you for your pictures, you were very close

Video summarize most of their Day 1 in Ottowa, including Mary reading aloud for the children at the local school. An anti-bullying book, so there Mary is totally on home ground. Frederik looking proudly on. Article mentions Frederik and Mary had landed the day before and probably suffered of a bit of jet lag, but despite of it they both were in brilliant mood.
