I'm so happy they didn't "leave her out" in terms of official pictures this year.
The pictures are beautiful, I especially like the third one. Mary is a great photographer and Bella has grown so much but is still a carbon copy of Frederik

2012 was the first year photos taken by Mary were released. Not sure how old the British kids are.

Daily Mail has a peculiar habit of somehow comparing the BRF with all other royals they write about. Presumably to attract more British readers.

Isabella is a beautiful little girl, and she has such lovely eyes. I think her birthday photos were very sweet and I also liked the room they were taken in. I mostly think that she looks like Frederik, but in these photos I saw some elements of Mary in her.
I wonder if Elizabeth II sends Isabella a birthday card/message since they share the same birthdays and the DRF and BRF are friendly with each other. It's a nice thought!

Those are stunning pictures and great job by Mary!! I think this the first time I've seen pictures of Isabella w/her hair down in a very long time and I just can't get over what a difference it makes to her face. That could be the reason why many, me too, are seeing more of Mary in her facial features this time.
That is until picture three and she's back to being Frederick's little Mini Me. . Love the expression on Bella's face in that one too.
Wow all these babies are growing up so fast. Hope The Little Charmer of the DaRF had a wonderful Birthday!!

IIRC the first time pictures taken by Mary were released - though not in connection with a birthday - was in the summer of 2006 - long before the British kids were even born.
(They showed Prince Christian in a pool, a towel and with Dad)

 That's true. A summer greeting from the Crown Prince couple, IIRC. But it just goes to show how a term such as "research" is non-existent to the Daily Fail.

I've wondered about that, too I've also wondered whether Isabella being born on Elizabeth's birthday played a role when they chose her name. Sure, they cited Isabella of Austria as the source of the name, but Isabella is a version of Elizabeth (and in Denmark, Isabella of Austria was known as Elisabeth) so it could be a subtle little nod.

If Isabella is a nod to Elizabeth, it would more likely be a nod to her mother, Mary Elizabeth.

Well, to Mary's grandmother, Elizabeth. But I was also just pointing out that Isabella was born on HM's birthday and basically shares name with her as well
