Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O'Neill: June 8, 2013

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I totally agree. All I am seeing on other boards is how "Estelle stole the show" and that is my point...she shouldn't have-it wasn't about Estelle today.

But at least there were no tantrums, and I like to believe that if Madeleine had objected Victoria wouldn't have brought her.

To the people that matter the day was about Madeleine and Chris. People are always drawn to cute babies. :shocking:

The church must have been really hot since everyone was fanning themselves and they seemed uncomfortable.

Sofia looked really nice in that lavender. Good choice.

Festivities are now over but no sight of the couple so we have no clue if they snuck out somehow or just chose to stay at the castle. There were pics(I think on Expressen) of Carl Phillip leaving though with Sofia(apologize for the spelling) or atleast looked like him.

I've been up since early this morning and have been terribly ill but didn't want to miss the fun so I stayed but I'm off now.

If I were them I'd leave in the early morning.

This is off topic, but I thought Emma Pernald was pregnant?

I thought overall this was a fantastic wedding. Madeleine was a beautiful bride and, from the one picture I've seen, her second dress is one of the nicest formal outfits I've ever seen on a royal. I hope she and Chris have a long and happy life together.

In theory I'm not a fan of children at weddings, and honestly I'm not a "kid person" in general, but I have one niece who's a little bit younger than Estelle, and I'd absolutely want her at my wedding, potential tantrums and scene stealing be damned, because she's an important part of my family and I love her to bits! Maybe Madeleine felt the same way... and, as others have pointed out, I'm sure Estelle would have been whisked out of the church at the first sign of trouble.

One thing I don't get is the Swedish royal family's attachment to cheesy, cringe inducing singing at their weddings!

My thoughts exactly. I have a nephew that's Estelle's age and he has to be at my wedding. Even if he steals the show I wouldn't care. As long as he didn't scream and disturb anyone. I think thats exactly how Madeleine felt.

Emma had a baby boy some time ago.

I admire how Madeleine seems determined to maintain her friendship with her. They must have formed a very close bond.

Estelle seems to be a very calm baby. Chances are good they made sure she had a good nap before hand and fed her, so she was in a good mood. Victoria may be Crown Princess, but I can bet you the family jewels that if the King or Queen had thought it was a bad idea for Estelle to attend, she would have just spent the whole weekend with her paternal grandparents.

Ha I thought so! Thanks MM.

Does anyone else think Charlene's looked like she was dressed in roadkill? That dress is hideous.

I actually thought the music was beautiful and very touching. I the idea of having your favorite artist to sing at your wedding. I think William & Catherine should've had that at their wedding. A romantic song would've filled Westminster Abbey beautifully.

Where are all those posters who were so down on Chris and what an awful man he seemed to be that were busy posting yesterday and the preceding days? You know the ones who said there was no love between these two and the marriage was doomed before it even began. Must be taking the day off.

Hi!

I was --- and AM --- one of the posters who made my feelings COMPLETELY clear on the subject of Chris and how he appeared and read to me in most of the pics taken of the two of them (and him) prior to their wedding.

I am ALSO one of the ones who did not appreciate his flipping a bird at a photog, back in November, thought it was childish behavior on his part, and said so.

I stated my observations and opinions then, and still stand by what I previously posted on the subject, now.

Having said that . . .

I am just beginning to REALLY post anything at all now, AFTER the wedding, because I was at work most of the day and missed most of the festivities, anyway, and couldn't post more than one or two times.

So, nope, I DIDN'T take the day off. I was just unavoidably delayed and am catching up on a lot of what I missed since I got back in a couple of hours or so, ago.

What I'm about to post as regards Chris today at the wedding (based on what I've been able to catch up on so far, going through these threads), was going to be posted ANYWAY, after I'd gone through to the end of this thread, but I saw your post and decided to respond to it immediately.

The man melted my heart, today.

That shot of his face as he saw Maddie coming down the aisle, looking as though he was about to lose it, made ME almost lose it, too.

I was --- and AM --- SO happy to see that pic, and others of him beaming like a lighthouse and radiating sheer joy.

I've stated this before and will state it again, here and now: Yes, he's handsome, but he's even MORE so when he smiles.

And, BOY, did we get to see PLENTY of his teeth TODAY!

Yep, I DO recall saying words to the effect that he read to me very negatively because of the fact that in MOST of the pics of him I'd seen since his engagement announcement, no smile was anywhere on his face. While Maddie, OTOH, was always beside him, smiling so hard you could practically see her wisdom teeth! I said he seemed grumpy and appeared as though he didn't want to be any part of the situation he now found himself in, being engaged to Maddie, even though he himself had created the situation by proposing to her in the first place, and the photogs, and so on, were all a part of it.

Yep, I said that, and stand by it.

Just as I've also said that after seeing the photos of the guy today, he really moved me through his apparently genuine emotion, affection and love for his lady that CLEARLY showed on his face and through his actions.

Yep, I said that, too, and stand by it, as well.

And yes, I wish them well, and sincerely hope they'll last a lifetime together!

God, I am with you on that one! I can't stand pop music at church weddings, especially Royal weddings. :bang:

Otherwise I think Scandinavian Royal weddings are magical...a perfect mix of pomp and romance.

I hava a different opinion about Estelle in this wedding. She was lovely and gave a little bit happiness in this especial event. I think that she is a calm baby and she didn't cause any problem.
I went in weddings with babies that screamed a lot, because their parents doesn't have control in their moods. Victoria and Daniel are different with her creation and it's very good to see it. She's being well educated by their parents, because they have almost total control in her mood. We should be pacient with our children, because they should be a better adult to live among us. I love children.

My favorite song appeared and I've got a special emotion.

"The first time ever I saw your face".

What is happening with all this fuss about Estelle. She was there because her aunt wanted her to be there and Estelle behaved very well considering her age.
Everybody was happy and that's what matters.

Loooved, looved, looved it that Estelle was there! So well educated and sooo super cute!
One of the highlights of the wedding!

Bye Bine

Are this information true?

There were photos in both Aftonbladet's and Expressen's photostream of Daniel's father Olle Westling in a car when the first guests started to arrive. I guess they brought Estelle from the Haga Palace to the Royal Palace to Victoria and Daniel.

Olle and Ewa Westling were with Estelle when Victoria and Daniel attended Madeleine's and Chris' banns of marriage, the swedish press has written about that.

The party lasted long. Chris held a good speech, he told that his father would have loved Madeleine and he told how much he loved her (Of course Chris has had a good example about a superb wedding speech, he can have watched Daniel's speech from Youtube). Many guests were moved.
The king held a speech and Victoria and Carl Philip spoke together.
Marie Fredriksson sang for the couple and there was a band "Pilot", which played at least ”Sweet child o’ mine”. Chris danced with Victoria and Daniel with Madeleine.
Mary left right after one c'clock and even before that Charlene had went to the hotel. Madeleine was seen out at the balcony at 2.20. At 3.30 the king came out and a little before five o'clock Victoria and Daniel were at the balcony and then left home. The party lasted until six.

Although I dislike both Madeleine and Chris, I hope them all the best and that these feelings of their wedding day will last in their lives long. Only the future years show how their marriage works.

What I cannot understand are the objections of the Swedish church against a father escorting his daughter up the isle. Especially as the church has been willing to embrace other much more fundamental changes.
There are as far as I can see no religious reasons for objecting to a father escorting his daughter. It's not like the priest has to ask the father for permission or ask the father instead of the bride.

The church itself is clearly not against or it would not have happened today. It is some of the people who are against it.

Just went through the wedding photo gallery. There were so many photos that the bride had funny/unnatural grins.
And I don't like the ruffles on the wedding dress either.

there's nothing wrong for me that they brought estelle along. i loved seeing her, she's extremely adorable and well behaved.

this was after all madeleine and chris' wedding and their wishes need to be addressed.

with that being said, i am against this having been a private wedding and glad the king asked them to allow the press inside. there's some rationale in it. this is a royal wedding and you are a princess of sweden. you receive an allowance from the state and represent the swedes. you have a rank and a diplomatic status just because you are born within the family. so i find it only fair that they put up with the few inconvenients that their position has.

Emma had a baby boy some time ago.

I admire how Madeleine seems determined to maintain her friendship with her. They must have formed a very close bond.

when the guests were leaving the boat, i saw how emma (and her partner) got off the boat just before sofia, who was accompained by madeleine's close friends. from this, i assume they were not too far inside the boat and possibly hang out. i wonder what the relationship between emma and sofia is, seeing they have close friends. do emma and CP still get along?

nice to see she changed her dress for the reception, like kate did. i guess both of them being young brides, and both weddings not being state weddings, they still wanted to enjoy the reception and wanted to change to something more comfortable to move better. maybe we will get some more details on who designed this one, although i still think her other dress was nicer. this is a bit too "prom" to my taste.

For posters asking about Guillaume and Stephanie, couples who did not want a boat ride had the option of being driven to Drottningholm.

;)

such an organisation at these events! however, i didn't notice them at the official photo with all the guests at the stairs of the palace. i wonder if they maybe did leave after the church service?

I agree with you but if you read some of the posts the fact that her presence was desired is apparently irrelevant.

Goodmorning. The reports about what went on at the party afterwards are coming in: Chris' tale fik gæsterne til at græde | Nyheder | DR

As is expected Chris O'Neal's speech was moving and loving. Jesper Parnevik tweeted: "Chris just gave a speech that made everybody cry. Now it's partytime". - That was around 01.00.
"Mr. Chris O'Neil's speech was fantastic. He talked about his relationship with his father, he talked about the King", said Charles Labarr. The newspaper Aftonblandet quotes another guest: "There was really a lot of love".

The 400 guests dined in a tent in the garden and were served Swedish delicacies. They got to the dessert around 22.00.

After midnight the wedding cake was served, it was more than one meter high. At this point Chris gave his first speech and then the wedding waltz followed.
Chris apparantly gave his romantic speech an hour later, and that was it, because it was partytime and the band Pilot was brought in.

Various members of the family, inclding the happy couple and the King were seen getting a breath of fresh air on the balcony - through big cigars.

Mary left around 01.00, however the party continued until 05.30.
It is not known whether Madeleine and Chris has slipped away on their honeymoon.

One of the nièces seems to wear à tiara how old is she?

I guess that is Anouska, born 1991, Celina and Milana are born 1996.

Thank you

Does anyone know if the Green claris in the curch is the same blue one as we have seen at Lilians funeral and estelles christning but with new Green fabric

I loved the way they had those little flowers under the tiara, it made it seem so much bigger IMO.

I liked her dress, although I didn't think it was to special, Princess Madeleine was glowing in it.

I like the fact that they took Estelle. Almost every wedding I attended had little children there, it's a family event.

Chris looked very emotional, I think it was cute. :D
