Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O'Neill: June 8, 2013

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Maybe Charlene don't think a tiara would work with her short hair.

No excuses!! This is white tie and tiara affair. Her protocol person SHOULD have said something to her about this. I wish Princess Caroline was there instead.

Can I get a hallelujah for no Cameo Tiara??? LOL

HALLELUJAH!!! Sorry folks, no offense but the Cameo doesn't do anything for anyone. Nice to wear it cause it's tradition but I'm glad Madeleine didn't follow that tradition.

In the U.S. we take off the engagement ring and put the band on first then put the engagement ring back on.

Yes we do and I did exactly that... AFTER the wedding ceremony. I love my engagement ring and didn't want to take it off until the last possible second. Different strokes. Some of my maids were telling me to do it that way and others told me to just do it my way. Madeleine did it her way.

Princess Margret was Victoria's granddaughter, so, am wondering if this is a tradition that Victoria started.

All royal brides (British ones!) have myrtle that was grown from Queen Victoria's bouquet in their own bridal bouquet!. Lovely tradition!

Chris seems to be enjoying the carriage ride very much! They look so happy

I have never liked having young children at weddings. Estelle behaved fairly well, but what was the point of having a toddler there?
If it truly was Madeleine's wish, I believe she should have thought again!
(But I suspect Victoria and Daniel are doting parents who wanted to bring her; there's a lot of those! And Madeleine decided not to make a fuss in the interest of family peace).

Every wedding I have ever been to had had children in it. Weddings are family events and children are family members. To me it seems odd not to have them present. Is this perhaps more of a cultural thing??

Did Charlene miss the dress code of tiara and Sash?

Yippie, the band is playing 'love is in the air' ;).

The streets were quite empty in the end, reminded me of Belgian/Dutch weddings (save the one of WA). I hope they will shorten the route for CP.

This route was 2 kilometers, Victoria's and Daniel's was 6,8 kilometers.

Just watched a summery of the carriage ride. Come on, Swedes. I've seen more enthusiastic crowds at funerals.
This is after all a festive event.

The British (as well as the Swedish and Danish) royal myrtle is not a sprig from the myrtle queen Victoria had in her bouquet, here is the true story about the royal myrtle: Osborne Myrtle in Royal Wedding Bouquet – My Isle of Wight

The Swedish royal myrtle is as far as I understand a sprig from the Osborne myrtle, it came to Sweden with crown princess Margareta, a grand-daughter of queen Victoria, and it came to Denmark with queen Ingrid.

First, as many of you have said already, I didn't like the choice of adding pop songs during the ceremony. I mean, I would get it if it was just a civil ceremony but they were in a church, I found it quite inappropriate. but still, it was their wedding day, they did what they like, and if the priest was fine with that, then ok. Second, a wedding, even a "state wedding", it's a family affair. if it was me, I'd have loved to have ALL my family with me, even the youngest member (in Italy we have children at the receptions as well...with baby sitters and entertainers for them..so for me it's quite normal). at the same time I'm sure Victoria and Daniel knew the baby girl was going to behave well, otherwise they would have never brought her with them to the service.

I was sorta wondering the same thing. And where is her husband, the Prince? And why did she not have an escort? She looked sorta lonely and I felt for her. She has a beautiful tiara and I was looking for her to wear that. Her gown was pretty but I like her in brighter and lighter colors. She still looks gorgeous. :)

Yeah, there wasn't as much cheering for them as there was for Victoria and Daniel. But frankly, Chris and Madeleine looked like they could care less. They are so happy and they really enjoyed the ride.

They just explained on Danish TV that the tradition with myrtles came to Sweden (and then to DK) from England. It was apparantly a Victorian fertillity symbol.

Chris is far, far more emotional a man than I realized. He seemed close to tears at several points in the ceremony and could not seem to keep his hands-or lips-off his gorgeous bride. Any doubts I had about him are gone. He adores Madeleine, it's obvious.:whistling: I was also surprised that he speaks English with a British accent, I hadn't realized.

Madeleine looked like a complete dream. I was disappointed with last night's showing but today she looked like the Ultimate Princess Bride. I loved everything about her look. And she reclaimed her position as Europe's most beautiful princess, imo. :p

Estelle is a dream baby and her parents obviously adore her but I agree with Mirabel . Why bring her to the ceremony and risk a meltdown?? As proud of her as Victoria and Daniel are, this was Madeleine and Chris's hour and not the time to show off your beautiful baby girl.

My two cents.

Well I think that when Princeas Estelle is a gwron up girl she can say that she was at her aunt's Weeding....

Now all eyes are on Prince Carl Philip & Sofia Hellqvist.

They obviously know their daughter and knew she was a happy and well mannered baby. I think Madeleine and Chris wanted her there and it was their wedding.

That is just wrong who goes to a wedding dressed like that, especially in a church.

I don't know that I'd say it is a cultural thing; here in the US there are all sorts of weddings.

Personally, I much prefer the ones that are adult-only.
I think children at weddings are a distraction at best and a nuisance at worst.
But other people may want to have them, it's a matter of choice.

BBC News - Swedish Princess Madeleine marries US-British financier

Some lovely footage from the BBC website. Chris looks besotted with her, and they seem so happy. He's clearly interested in Madeleine the person, not Madeleine the princess.

I also thought he always looked uncomfortable & a bit grumpy in photos, but think maybe he's just one of those people who doesn't photograph particularly well.

Anyway, congrats Madeleine and Chris!

I think it's was beautiful they included baby Estelle in the wedding. I normally don't like little children at weddings but this time I thought is was great that they included Estelle.

Anyone seen any pictures of the bride's attendants?

I'm just getting to look at the photo's now,Princess Madeleine looked very beautiful, very disappointed at Charlene of Monaco's no tiara/jewels/royal order.Albert II should have sent his sister,Princess Caroline.
