Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank: October 12, 2018

Super adorable! Love the interaction between Eugenie and Charlotte, and how Savannah lean on Eugenie

That's such a cute photo.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding

Hello friends,

I’ve been catching up on all the news from Friday’s big day. I’ve read that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was absent due to a previous commitment to be at a school in Scotland. Beside the duchess, has anyone heard if Lady Chatto and her family were in attendance? She’s such a darling niece to Queen Elizabeth. Any news on Lady Chatto would be nice.

Thank you!
All Gone (John)

That photo illustrates that the children are actually very comfortable with Eugenie--and is another nail in the coffin of the tabloid narrative that the royals don't get along or see each other aside from a few family engagements with the Queen. Children are not that relaxed around people they don't know.

Love the photo Eugenie shared on Instagram. It's very personal and intimate, one can really sense the relations between Eugenie and her little bridal party. Savannah and Eugenie seem to be very close, as she's leaning on her in this photo and there was also this lovely moment between the two at the wedding. So cute to see little Theodora Williams on Jack's knees, too!

So so so cute!!!! I love this type of beautiful, natural pics!

Eugenie and Jack do make a wonderful couple. Wish them nothing but happiness.

I have just seen the whole wedding on youtube. I thought it was wonderful; the chapel looked so rich in colour and glowing; a beautiful place. Everyone seemed so happy, especially the bride and groom. Eugenie looked stunning. I felt Prince Andrew had a tear in his eye at some point. I saw a photo of Charles talking to Fergie in the church; that was lovely. I liked the minister doing the speech, talking about why the Gatsby reading was chosen; it certainly sounded like he knew the couple. I would have liked seeing the trumpeters doing the fanfare, but of course the focus was on the Queen, as it should be.

I have a thought, when I was watching Andrea Bottecelli sing, he was facing the door of the church, on his right hand side, there there three youngish couples and an older woman. all with fair/blonde hair. I wondered if they were Fergie's half-brother and sisters (and spouses) and stepmother. No sign of Eugenie's aunt Jane, that I could see, nor her Ferguson cousins, but of course I don't know what those Australian Ferguson cousins look like now, Makim I think their surname was.

I like Stephen Fry on IQ, but he does tend to rubbish religion a bit on the show, but at the ceremony he was heartily singing along with the hymns; not sure who he was singing to :whistling:

I thought little Maud Windsor was lovely, and that Savannah certainly has character plus. Good to see Prince George didn't look nervous. And all the parents looked so proud.

Wee James escorted Sarah and Beatrice up the aisle.

And Pippa making it to the wedding and giving birth only three days later.

Of all the Royal weddings I've seen, and that starts with Princess Anne's first marriage, I think this one looked the most joyful and happy. Certainly not to say the others weren't, because they were all great, it's just this one appeared to have an added extra.

I assume others were there as well, but I don’t know what they look like.

Thank you so much, Princess Larissa. I was definitely on the right track with Sarah's half sister.

Is Stamp Mrs. Brooksbank’s maiden name?
No her maiden name was Newton. An 18th century Brooksbank married a woman named Mary Stamp and that's how the name was introduced. Jack's grandfather was named Stamp.

Eliza looks more like Sarah than her full sister Jane, doesn't she?

Yes, indeed, and Eliza looks very much too like P Beatrice in one of those pictures.

THIS has got to be one of the cutest royal wedding pictures I've ever seen, I love how Savannah is hugging Eugenie from behind while she makes Charlotte laugh, you can tell that there's a good family relationship from her with her cousins and their children, they are close to her and I think that speaks volumes about her character, she has always struck me as a very nice young lady and the way she showed it in this wedding just reinforced the idea for me ❤️

Jack is the kind of guy who's dying to have his own children as well, strikes me as that type, so we might have more little feet running around Buck Palace in the near future :D

I don't know if it is just temporarily or if will last, but the York Princesses, especially Eugenie seem to experience a regain of popularity. People got to know Eugenie a little bit better, her work in the arts industry, her interest in orthopedic medicine, because of what she has gone through in her life. Her relationship with the children of her cousins etc.
Hopefully this goodwill will last for her

Who is Eliza again?

Fergie's sister, well half. She is closer in age to her nieces though as she was only born the year before the Yorks got married. Ron and Susan had three kids, Eliza is the youngest. Her sister Alice was a bridesmaid in the York wedding.

From the Ferguson family, only Alice was not present at the wedding?

I'm not sure but I thought the woman in blue near Eliza could have been her sister, Alice. She does look similar. ??
Also, Eliza's dress was so much like one Fergie has worn when younger. Do you think it was borrowed vintage?
Sarah used a purse belonging to her late mother - maybe others in the family wore sentimental pieces too.
Jane and her partner were seated opposite and above the Queen, behind Jack's parents. You see her, in red, each time someone enters from that door. ie after signing the wedding certificate. I saw a photo of Jane with all of her three children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and her stepdaughter outside. For the ceremony they could have been seated behind the choir on Jane's side, further away than Cressida Bonas. Her daughter Ayesha was dressed in plum with a tall silver hat. The other daughter wore a checked skirt.
Where was Susan Swinburn seated? She is one of Eugenie's godparents apart from being her stepgrandmother. I loved her outfit.
I agree, the family likenesses are interesting to see.

Sorry if this is "stirring the pot" again for some people, bu to me they're just facts. These are this week's cover of Point de Vue. I think Eugenie's wedding would have definitely made the cover. I'm sorry for her.

I mean just two more days just to give Eugenie a tiny bit of attention? It was such a beautiful wedding! Now, go ahead...tell me to shut up...

Funny I have just been replaying some bits of the wedding and I agree and most people I know do too. We are very excited for the baby news but the timing for the announcement is a bit off .

The attention was there on the day of the wedding. It was there the next day when the celebrations continued. On the third day after a wedding most people are on their honeymoon and not worried about the publicity or not of three days before.

Magazines usually come out on a Monday anyway and I'm sure Eugenie would have been on the cover of some of those. How long do celebrations for a wedding have to last? It was a lovely wedding and Eugenie is a nice girl and made a lovely bride.

However media in the modern world moves very quickly on. There was already building interest in this tour by the Press and a huge media contingent was accompanying the Sussexes to Australia. Every move that Meghan made, every hint of a pregnancy would have been seized on. (There had already been hints of it in the British tabloids.) I don't think TPTB wanted that speculation to begin or to continue on an important and lengthy Royal tour.
And BP had probably approved the release of that announcement, anyway.

Eugenie doesn't seem to care. She and Harry are close, have been for years. She sent a Like to an Instragram picture of Meghan in Australia the other day. She and Jack are probably on holiday somewhere thoroughly enjoying themselves. Why feel resentment on her behalf?

Sometimes it seems to me that people who don't really like Meghan seize on any excuse to put her down. The furore on social media in some quarters over Eugenie's wedding in which Harry and Meghan are supposed to have 'spoiled Eugenie's reception' by confirming the pregnancy with other senior royals is a case in point. Because it didn't happen that way at all.

Princess Eugenie's Wedding Dress

I didn’t know we have got to know how and when the announcement was made except that at the reception
The Queen would have known before hand but don’t know about the other royals It’s nothing todo with not liking Meghan for me it was just a little extra time for Eugenie.

Extra time for Eugenie? Her wedding was on Friday. She had TWO evening celebrations for her family and friends...ONE more than Harry and Meghan I might add. She had three days of focus solely on her wedding alone as well as a pre-wedding interview AND pre-wedding media attention. For a non-working ninth in line to the throne...she got more than enough attention.
She had her wedding...She had her spotlight...and then the media and world moved on!
