Great pictures of Benedikte and Richard's wedding Mandy and Pdas1201! :)

I have always really liked Benedikte's dress -- and the subtle usage of bows is something Mabel of the Netherlands should have taken a cue from with her own wedding dress!

random find on imageshack - this looks like it might have been taken right after they stepped out of the chapel.

I just read a funny story about two guests of this wedding:
Marianne ("Manni") zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, a relative of the groom and an avid photographer ("Mamarazza") had no more flashlight left, so together with the Queen Mum (also an ardent photographer) she looked for a facility to recharge it and finally found one.
By doing so, the entire ballroom accidentally disappeared into darkness.

I thought her wedding gown was very bland, even though her train was amazing.

I'm old enough to vaguely remember Princess Benedikte's wedding. It followed some eight months after the wedding of the present Queen and Henri de Montpezat. It was more low key in relation to the general public and yet .. the fact that they married in Fredensborg Palace chapel made it more regal and refined.

I agree with a previous poster that Benedikte's wedding dress was a bit on the bland side, but IMO it reflects her style perfectly. Benedikte always had the most 'tailored' look of the three sisters, her satorial taste is ladylike and timeless. Occasionally especially her gala-dresses look so stiff and tailored as if they came from a shipyard .........

The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor: Wedding Wednesday: Princess Benedikte's Gown

Like I said before I think Benedikte's gown was bland. I dislike the two bows and the front panels. Though I do like her train, and her veil and tiara are just stunning. All in all, Benediktes wedding dress is my least favorite compared to her sisters gowns.

I found a short clip on youtube. Different parts and places of the wedding:

1. Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard at the airport.

2. Queen Anne-Marie arrives at the airport with Princess Alexia (happily welcomed by King Frederick and Queen Ingrid)

3. Queen Ingrid and King Frederick welcome King Gustaf Adolf at the train station
(I love Queen Ingrid, she is one of my favorites. But all her life she looked old, as old as her own father. Especially in this clip)

4. Arrival of the Queen Mother and King Konstantin

5. and the Wedding ceremony

I wish there was a complete video of the wedding, the ceremony and speeches. But this short clip is a start. Here is the link:

Queen Anne Marie was warmly welcomed at the airport by her Parents. She and her Husband were not allowed to attend Crown Princess Margarethe's Wedding.(for political reasons)

The then PM, J.O. Krag, made himself thoroughly unpopular by that decision, which was his and his alone. Not even the far left had anything against hers and her husbands presence at her sister's wedding. So when Queen Anne-Marie entered the royal box, at the gala performance at The Royal Theatre in honour of Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard, the audience more or less gave her a standing ovation!
