Grace's wedding dress is a timeless piece. You can put it at any time in the century and it would stand out and still be beautiful and elegant!

I've noticed that Grace's mother, Ma Kelly's dress is almost alike her daughter's. Lace and white. Very matchy!

Ooo...anyone know where civil ceremony dress is housed? I know the religious wedding dress is at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and was lucky enough to see in 2006, but I didn't see the civil ceremony dress there.

This dress has been part of the travelling exhibition "The Grace Kelly Years". It is a two piece - fitted jacket & flared skirt made by Helen Rose with Alencon lace. If you look at the exhibition thread I think you'll find a picture of it on display- I'll have a look & see if I can track the post number. I don't know if the costume belongs to the Grimaldi family or if it's on loan from another source while the exhibition is on tour.

The more I view this thread, the more I agree! I normally prefer a plain dress with possibly a somewhat ornate Veil (such as Maxima's) but the style of Grace's dress and that magnificient veil, have won me over!!!

Besides, I am from the Philadelphia area as well!!!

Has anyone taken a cruise on the Deo Juvante? I see that the yacht has been renamed the MY Grace and is available to book for tours through the Galapagos. Wouldn't that be the coolest thing? There's also some great videos linked on M/Y Grace Galapagos Islands Cruise.

I think the fabric must have certainly yellowed over time, as with most delicate fabrics. This is one of the reasons the Philadelphia Museum of Art no longer has the dress on permanent display.

Thank you to all that posted pictures of this wonderful wedding.I was young when it happenend but I still remember vividly, all the hullaballoo before the ceremony, when Grace and her family were coming to Monaco by ship and then the marvelous ceremonial. She was indeed a beautiful bride.

The royal houses did not go the wedding because the Monaco Princely family were not considered having the same royal status, not because Grace Kelly was an actress.

Actually i think it was by both reasons. The Grimaldis are not considered as great royals, but an aristocratic minority (i don't agree with that by the way) and the fact that the reing prince was marrying an actress, a commoner...
But Grace was more royal than anyone in her time

I also read that it wasn't just because that some considered the Grimaldis nobility, but also because they were known to be scandal-prone and dysfunctional bunch.
