Prince Pieter-Christiaan of Orange-Nassau and Anita van Eijk: August 25 and 27, 2005

WOW! What a colorful event. The brides outfit IMO is just awful, pour choice for a wedding, although her smile & happiness makes up for a lot. I'm not so sure about some of her sister in laws' outfits either. What a strange hat Marilene has on!!! And those black boots, not appropriate. Hopefully, everyone will dress better for the religious ceremony.

My goodness, what on earth was Laurentien thinking? She seems ready to perform in a circus! I don t care to much for Marilenes outfit (didn t she wear the hat during queensday as well?). The bride looks to matronly and what was Anette thinking with the boots/skirt , either the boots or the skirt should be longer.
Margriet and Beatrix looked nice but the only elegant woman at this ocassion was in my opinion Aimee.

Who are the couple in the bottom left photo? He's quite handsome, reminds me a bit of the late JFK, Jr.

When you look at the woman's hat, doesn't it remind you of the headpiece that Whoopi Goldberg wore in Star Trek: The Next Generation?

I totally agree, Aimee seems to be the only on of the "younger" princess' with any fashion sense at all.

I completely agree with you. Aimee was clearly the best dressed woman there, her outfit was understated and very elegant. The Queen and Princess Margriet also looked lovely.

I thought Anita's dress looked awful. It looked like something an old lady would've worn in the late 60s. How very unflattering for a young woman on her wedding day. I hope she chooses a much nicer dress for the religious ceremontu.

Princess Laurentien's outfit was a complete disappointment. She looked like a circus performer! I find it surprising that Laurentien would wear such an attention grabbing outfit, this special day belongs to the bride and the groom not Laurentien.

OMG! What a strange fashion show!:D

No offence at all, but I can't help but laugh at Princess Laurentien'suit...I wonder what they reserve to us for Saturday at the religious wedding?

The bridal couple looked incredible happy and radiant, she is beautiful but her outfit was to old for her

Beatrix, Margriet and Aimee was the most elegant IMO, Princess Anette has such a natural beauty but her skirt and boots combo was not the best. Marilene need to eat something, she looks extremely skinny. I dont know what Laurentien was thinking, clown pants and tropicana hat in screaming colours for a wedding...

I wonder what we will see on saturday

I pity the poor person sitting behind Laurentien; it must not have been easy to see round that hat.

I guess the main thing is that everyone is happy but a few superficial remarks:

The patterned material of the dress of the bride, could she not wear a single coulour, simple is best, the colour of her stockings is really........ and the colour of her shoes  (are they golden!!)

Marilene looked beautifull, (except for the hat)

Annette is too broad around the beam to wear a white skirt (she does have a lovely face).

Laurentine looked again like something out of holiday on ice and she was not dressed as the princess.

Lets see what the will wear on saterday :)

Aimee was definitely the best dressed there. I think she is the most stylish of the Dutch royals (except for Maxima, whom I love - though Maxima has worn some pretty bad outfits too now that I think about it). But personally I don't like black or white (or black and white) for a wedding, I think colors are more cheerful.

Speaking of black and white: is it in fashion right now? I'm asking because 3 of the women are wearing it: Aimee, Annette and Margriet.

Liked Beatrix's outfit, esp the color.

Like Margriet's outfit, but not the pompom in her hair.

I agree with a previous poster who said Annette should have worn the boots or the skirt, but not both. I like the skirt, but it's so soft and floaty I don't like it with the boots (at all) or even the heavy black jacket.

Laurentien: the worst outfit she's ever worn (and she's worn some pretty awful outfits). Possibly the worst outfit I've seen anyone wear.

At what point should the Queen or SOMEONE get involved with Lairentien's fashion decisions? If she were my daughter-in-law wearing that out in public when representing my family, I'd be a little mad. And the fact that Laurentien's fashion choices have a tendency to be awful all the time, I think it's time for someone to take over.

Can someone fill me in on details? What is the building the Civil Ceremony was held in? I noticed Anita had rings on both fingers -- are rings exchanged at the Civil Ceremony? I thought that was at the religious ceremony? Is there typically a reception after the Civil Ceremony and is it usually held a couple of days before the religious ceremony? How many brothers does the groom have and what are their names and their wives names? What about the bride's family? Siblings? Where are they from? Thanks to any who can help!

Did the Dutch RF wake up and think it was the 70's. What happened to the fashion? Anita seems like a sweet girl but her outfit is gross, the shoes too. I believe she was going for the Jackie O look and failed miserably. I do wish them the best. Is it protocol for CP Wilhem & Maxima not to attend the civil ceremony? It would have been nice to have them there but I think Maxima would have outshined all of the women there with her sense of style.

Did Margriet and her daughters-in-law (and 1 daughter-in-law-to-be)make a pact to all wear white/back/greyish ensembles????

I liked Anita's outfit. She's very pretty and I'm excited to see her dress for the religious ceremony. Laurentien's outfit was AWFUL! Margriet, Beatrix, and Aimee all looked quite good. Anita and Pieter-Christian looked so happy! Congrats to them!

It means, "with anita, I feel like I can take on the world."

That is just too sweet.

Thanks to everyone who has posted pictures of today!

I am in agreement about the outfits. I am not a fan of Anita's outfit. It wasn't horrible, but just a little too loud for my liking. Especially for a wedding.

Why are all these women wearing black? I thought it was considered bad ettiquete to attend a wedding in black, just as you shouldn't show up for a funeral in red or yellow. I noticed Margriet, Aimee, Annette and a few other women who I can't identify in black. I loved both Margriet and Aimee's outfits, I just don't think they were well suited for the occasion.

I thought that Annette's top was lovely - and her hat was my favorite out of them all - but the skirt and the boots were just awful!

Laurentien..... It seems as if her fashion sense has gone downhill these past few years and has progressively gotten worse. I feel sorry for whoever what stuck sitting behind her. That hat was huge!

I love Marliene, but I really despise her flying saucer hat. That thing could land planes! Her outfit was not that bad though.

... and I think all the men in the immediate families made a pact to wear those yellow ties.:)
