The Civil Ceremony took place on May 29, 1998 and the church wedding, the next day on May 30, 2998. Since there are not photos posted, I thought it might be nice to remember this day for this happy couple.
Here are some photos taken at the civil ceremony. Photo source is unknown- from a series of photos collected before it became important to remember the source! There are several pictures with family, including Queen Julianna and Prince Bernhard.

just looked at these pictures again, and can't help being of the same opinion I always was of Marilene as a bride: a for some reason completely uninspiring bride, despite her luminous and beautifully radiant face. I guess it's the dress that I find completely, well, ordinary for some reason. Can't put my finger on it. Also, for the longest time I had thought Marilene didn't wear a tiara on her wedding day. But now I see that she did! Gosh was the thing hidden in her hair, what a shame. And it's one of the best tiara's in that family, in my opinion.
Anyway, not my favorite bride. Even Mabel looked better put together as a bride than Marilene. Oh well. At least her groom was extremely handsome, who needs a gorgeous wedding gown that would just distract from <him>

Thanks Elsa, especially for that last picture. I believe it was the last time that we saw Queen Juliana in public :(
