Konstantinos dance only with Anna Maria

Some quotes from the article:

"The 22-year-old CP Konstantinos did not want to let anyone else dance with the girl who had stolen his heart, 16-year-old Princess Anna Maria of Denmark. Queen Freideriki may have enjoyed the night and had fun herself, but this behavior of Konstantinos did not escape her watchful eye. Here is how he describes it in the "Measure of Understanding":
"At Sofia's wedding reception, Konstantinos danced only with Anna Maria. Every now and then I would whisper in his ear: "Please deal with the other girls too". "No," he replied, "I do not want anyone else to have the same idea I have of Anna Maria." So we saw again one of our children taking his way without us ".

http://www.royalchronicles.gr/wp-con...2.-600x405.jpg

"Two Grandes d’Espana arrived first to wait and receive el Rey y la Reina as they had always considered and called them, Juan Carlos's parents, the Count and Countess of Barcelona. In front of the still closed door and the two doormen, on the left the Duke d ’Alburquerque and on the right the Duke d’Alba. The Duke of Beltran d'Alburquerque was the head of the honorary entourage of his King, the Count of Barcelona. Duke Luis d’Alba and his wife Duchess Gayetana d’Alba were in charge of the honorary entourage of Queen Victoria Eugenia, the grandmother of Juan Carlos.
A few weeks after the official engagement announcement, Duchess d’Alba came to Athens and settled for more than a month in Tatoi. Every day she taught Princess Sophia the customs, manners and customs of Spain and told her about the country that would become her homeland from now on. He taught her from how to fasten the Spanish headscarf on her head to what is forbidden and what one must do, passing through the secrets of Spanish cuisine.

Quite lovely. Konstantinos clearly knew whom he wanted to be his bride!

I didn't know that Sophia was taught by the Duchess of Alba. It makes sense to have the duchess of Alba as the most titled person in Spain and godchild of the groom's grandmother ensure that their future princess/queen would know all she needed to know to function in Spain's high society. I wonder if it resulted in any kind of special (personal) relationship between the two women.

The duchess of
Alba has since the beginning of their marriage been very close to JC and Sofia. I heard also that for the about 13 years the couple lived in Spain till the death of Franco they were quite hostages. They lived according to their rank but they did not have neither freedom nor money. They had all expenses covered but so few cash that they could not even buy a sandwich, this in order to be under Franco's full control. Hopefully they could count on the huge generosity of some of the Grandee of Spain, more especially the duchess of Alba.
I don't know, since the duchess of Alba had a daughter near Felipe's age, if the idea crossed both mother's mind about a possible match between their children. Unless queen Sofia wanted a royal blood bride for her son. Finally she ended up with Letizia.

Sofia's wedding was at the time of the quarreling between Viktoria Luise & Ernst August, Friederike stood to her brother (its been said he still gave her a appanage) Viktoria Luise never received an invitation.. But VL attended Konstantin's wedding 2 years later.

After the death of Ernst August 1953(Viktoria Luise husband) Their eldest son became the head of the house of Hannover, as such he paid money to members of the Family( His mother and siblings for example) I think Ernst August did not paid her as much as he should and his late father wanted. Mainly it was about Viktoria Luises appange but also abut Jewels, Viktoria kept some jewels that she should have given her son (the Brunswick Tiara for example) Ernst August also expected his mother retirement of social projects which she refused..

Thanks a lot. Very interesting. I have always heard that the Hanover family is immensely rich, I don't really understand why, they are not ruling for more than 100 years. I don't think that the other German princely houses are so rich, including the imperial house of German Empire.

Many families like the Hannovers, the Hesses and the Wittelsbachs retains large properties in real estate, agriculture, forests etc because of deals made during the twenties after the fall of the monarchy. Some families like the Imperial Hohenzollerns and the Sachsens made the same deals, but lost most of the properties after 1945 because they were in the parts of Germany that ended up in DDR or Poland. Some families like the Reuß have regained parts of their property by proving that they were either foreign citizens or worked against the Nazi regime and the Hohenzollerns are currently in the middle of highly controversial negotiations for restitution of what they lost.
